The Bully President and the Serious Wife

Chapter 114 I have a reason to go find her

Mrs. Xie noticed that her son looked tired.

Xie Zhenting looked terrible. His eyes were hollow, hazy, and completely shrouded in melancholy. To get his attention, she gently nudged him. "Did you break up with her recently?"

Mrs. Xie began to detect.

"What breakup? I haven't even started dating her yet."

He thought, as she left him alone, he was deeply lost in his own thoughts.

Xie Zhenting could only manage an incomplete response to his mother. “Mom, I’m not feeling well.”

"It's obvious," his mother said.

"I think I might have been taken advantage of," Xie Zhenting replied.

"What? Who is it?" Mrs. Xie asked in surprise.

Xie Zhenting, staring at the ceiling, replied dejectedly, "That little devil named Xu Lu."

Hearing her son's answer, Mrs. Xie's curiosity subsided. "Oh... then... that's normal,"

"What did you say?" Xie Zhenting shouted.

“No…I mean…it’s nothing…” Mrs. Xie cleared her throat while trying to change the question to distract her son.

"Have you two had a fight recently?"

"No, we're not fighting, Mom. I'm nice to her, but I can't help but feel she's resisting me. I want to be closer to her. But every time I try to get closer to her, she pushes me further away."

On that day, everything was calm. After they went to bed, she smoked a cigarette, took a shower, came out, smiled at each other, chatted for a few words, and then separated.

Mrs. Xie sighed after hearing what her son said.

"That's a very one-sided view. Do you think that what you did really helped her and was good to her? Have you ever considered her feelings and asked her if she is willing to accept everything you did for her?"

She knew what kind of person her son was. He had never learned how to put himself in other people's shoes. Who knew when he would consider other people's feelings?

Xie Zhenting frowned and replied, "She has no reason to reject me. I'm a great person."

Mrs. Xie patted her son's head gently and said, "Has your arrogance finally manifested? Where on earth do you find your confidence, son?"

"Mom..." He was obviously annoyed by his mother's words.

"Come on, tell me. Please tell me, where does your confidence come from?" she added.

Xie Zhenting remained silent and looked at her in amazement.

As her son stared into her eyes, stunned, she felt uneasy and began to feel cold. "Okay, okay. You're the best. If you can't figure it out yourself, what makes you think I can?"

She never wanted to harm her son again.

She handed the small jewelry bag to Aunt Wu and said simply, "Aunt Wu, could you please put these away for me?"

Xie Zhenting knew that those jewels were lent to Mrs. Wang a few days ago. He simply said, “Wow, not bad. This time you really got them back.”

"It was...that...that person...who brought it back for me," Mrs. Xie said a little nervously.

"That person...are you talking about Xu Lu?" Xie Zhenting tried to confirm with a blank expression.

At that moment, Xie Zhenting felt completely free from his demons, as if a heavy weight had been lifted from his shoulders.

He felt so alive. He couldn't help but give his mother a big hug. "Mom, you are truly my mom. From this day on, I will never again accuse you of sabotaging me."

Mrs. Xie, uncomfortable with her son’s sudden physical sympathy, pushed him away. “Well, what do you want?”

Mrs. Xie complained.

"Mom, you helped me a lot. It's natural for me to express my gratitude to her now, right?" Xie Zhenting replied.

Xie Zhenting finally breathed a sigh of relief. He finally had the best excuse, he needed to see her now.

Mrs. Xie said, "Even if this is a gesture of gratitude, it would be more appropriate for me to go in your place. You're just in the way, boy!"

After hearing his mother's answer, Xie Zhenting stood up and straightened his clothes.

"Isn't there an old saying that it is a son's responsibility to repay his mother's debts? You and I are mother and son, let me handle it." Xie Zhenting said to his mother confidently.

Mrs. Xie was speechless at her son's newfound confidence.

Mrs. Xie couldn't help but shake her head and laugh at her son's transformation. "This little boy of mine..." she laughed loudly.

Aunt Wu was eavesdropping on the whole thing. She asked, “Madam, I thought you always hated Miss Xu. What’s wrong?”

Hearing Aunt Wu's question, Mrs. Xie grabbed the jewelry from Aunt Wu's hand and tried to pick it up.

“Don’t get me wrong, I still don’t like her.”

At that moment, Xie Zhenting felt like a brand new person.

The heavy burden that had weighed on him for the past few days was finally lifted. His mind was clear and he was ready to take on anything.

He knew he missed Xu Lu, but if he saw her—with all the self-doubt and uncertainty that weighed him down—it would only satisfy his selfish, one-sided, sexual needs and nothing else.

Now he knew exactly how he felt about her.

He once fantasized about having a sexual orgy with her, and she was a happy nirvana until she woke up the next day.

He had previously thought and reflected a great deal about his doubts and uncertainties, but the more he thought about them, the more he wanted to suppress them and bury them in his subconscious.

His conflicted self-reflection stems from an underlying fear of the unknown and the emotional pain of potential exposure.

However, the more he tried to ignore his feelings, the more he missed her. He felt miserable, which fueled his insomnia and his desire to see her, tormenting him endlessly.

Now, his mother still gave him a lifeline and a ray of light at the end of that dark and narrow road.

Xie Zhenting truly felt that his mother had truly made up for her previous attempts to sabotage him.

He called Jiang Lin. "Get me a gift."

"What kind of gift, President?" Jiang Lin asked.

"A gift from God! Stop asking such obvious questions, okay?"

Jiang Lin had to probe further. “But, President, this gift of yours is for someone else. What would that person like?”

“Okay, I’ll do it myself. You can’t even complete a simple task. Then go and stay with Wu Fang,”

Xie Zhenting said disappointedly before hanging up the phone, leaving Jiang Lin alone in the chaos.

After hanging up the phone, he went straight to the mall to buy a gift. It took him half a day to find the right gift.

Afterwards, he went straight to the studio, but found she was not there.

He was told that Lulu had left for the capital.

Leng Jiang noticed Xie Zhenting and asked cautiously: “Sir. Don’t you know? Miss Lulu didn’t tell you?”

Xie Zhenting was already boiling with anger. He just thought that this young man was looking for trouble. How could he mention the girl’s name?

Xie Zhenting simply replied: "Of course she told me. I'm an investor in this film. How could I not know the progress?"

"Of course," Leng Jiang replied nervously.

Lulu's absence made him increasingly angry. The optimism and excitement he had felt when he came from home immediately dissipated when he arrived on the set.

Back in the car, he looked at the wrapped gift and frowned in frustration. He tossed it into his back seat.

He took out his cell phone and called Jiang Lin. The first thing he said was, "I'm going to Beijing on a business trip."

Jiang Lin flipped through the planned schedule and briefly reviewed it. "Boss, you've arranged several trips. One to Country M and another to Ocean City, but not to Beijing. There's no recent record of you having business there."

He was so annoyed at the person's ignorance that he wanted to slap her.

"Can't you just add it in? Do I have to read it to you?" Xie Zhenting suddenly replied.

"But...your schedule...doesn't show it..." Jiang Lin said nervously.

"I don't care, God added it in for me..." Xie Zhenting replied dejectedly.

Jiang Lin couldn't help cursing Xie Zhenting. What happened to his boss?

He was the boss after all, so she had to find a way to squeeze a trip to the capital into her already packed schedule.

Jiang Lin felt aggrieved and went over to complain to Qu Jing.

Qu Jing just smiled. “Don’t you understand? It must be because Xu Lu is filming in Beijing.”

“If he wants to go, he can always go on his own. Why does he want me to use the company’s name to increase his timetable?”

Qu Jing shook his head and laughed. "You'll never understand the inner workings of a terminally ill 'arrogant cancer' patient."

He slapped the table and continued, "If he goes alone, what does it mean? It means 'I miss you, I want to see you', but if he uses the company's name, it means 'I don't want to see you, I'm here for the company's business, but since I'm here, I want to see you'. Do you understand?"

Jiang Lin laughed. “Damn, would saying ‘I miss you’ hurt him?”

“It won’t hurt him, but it will hurt his pride.”
