New ink fragrance in old times
Chapter 4 Fainting
The woman walked up to Lin Mo and called out softly, "Sanlang, why are you here alone? Uncle Li's house is bustling with activity today, and everyone is rushing to attend the wedding. Your aunt is so worried because she can't find you." After that, she naturally took Lin Mo's hand, ready to take him with her.
However, an indescribable strange feeling welled up in Lin Mo's heart. His cheeks instantly turned crimson, like the most gorgeous clouds under the setting sun. After all, as a "bachelor" in real life, he had never experienced holding hands with a girl so closely.
Even in a dream, this sudden intimacy made Lin Mo at a loss, and his heart felt as hot and uneasy as if it was scorched by the summer sun.
He secretly sighed, "Lin Mo, ah Lin Mo, you have made it. You can actually hold hands with a girl in your dream."
The woman turned around and asked, "Sanlang, what are you mumbling about?"
Lin Mo shook his head at the woman and said, "Nothing." He thought to himself, as a decent man, how could he hold a girl's hand so casually?
Lin Mo tried to struggle, but found that his hands were firmly held by the woman. Although her hands were a little rough due to daily work, her nails were well-maintained, neat, uniform, clean and translucent, revealing her extraordinary attention to detail.
The woman had a bracelet carefully woven from straw on her wrist. Its simplicity and plainness contained a unique craftsmanship. Her hands were extremely warm and strong, as if they could convey a sense of security.
"Your hands...are so big." Lin Mo blurted out involuntarily, feeling even more puzzled and surprised. He looked up at the woman beside him, trying to guess her height from her figure.
I muttered to myself, "This dream is getting more and more incredible. Could she be a giant? I'm considered tall myself, but she feels like she's twice my height."
Upon hearing this, the woman just smiled and did not answer. She continued to pull Lin Mo out of the yard.
As the woman walked forward, Lin Mo was led out of the yard in a daze and set foot on the path leading to the fields. Along the way, he tried to distract himself and appreciate the surrounding scenery.
In the fields, the corn stood tall and the rice was emerald green, a scene full of vitality. Lin Mo guessed that this must be what the seventh month of the lunar calendar looked like. Just as he was immersed in this tranquility and beauty, the appearance of a small river once again broke the peace.
Lin Mo looked down at the river and was suddenly stunned. The reflection in the stream was actually the figure of a child, completely different from what he remembered.
He looked at the water in disbelief and squatted down suddenly. The woman stumbled and lowered her head to ask Lin Mo, "Sanlang, what's wrong with you? Are you hungry? We'll have something delicious to eat at Uncle Li's house soon."
Lin Mo said nothing, his fingers gently touching the cold and real water surface, "Why did the me in the dream change?"
"Is this... is this me?" Lin Mo muttered to himself, his fingers once again touching the child in the water, wearing a short jacket and pants, as if trying to confirm the reality of this. The touch was cold and real. Lin Mo repeatedly touched the reflection in the water, trying to understand this sudden change of identity. For the first time, Lin Mo wondered if he was really dreaming.
The woman mistakenly thought that he was playing around, "Sanlang, stop playing in the water. If your aunt finds out, she will ask your second uncle to beat you up." She reminded him in a tone that was both blaming and caring.
"How could this happen?" Lin Mo pinched his arm hard. The pain made him more suspicious that he was not dreaming.
"What is going on?" A series of questions swirled in his mind, making him confused and curious.
Seeing this, the woman frowned slightly, a trace of confusion and worry flashed in her eyes. She gently scolded, "Sanlang, what's wrong with you? Auntie said that Uncle Li Zi's family prepared a lot of delicious food today. If we go too late, we won't be able to eat it."
Lin Mo looked up, his eyes full of fear. He shook his head, his voice trembling: "No, no, sister, I... I seem to have become another person."
When the woman heard this, a hint of surprise flashed in her eyes. She then squatted down, looking at Lin Mo at eye level, and asked gently: "Sanlang, what nonsense are you talking about? Of course you are still Sanlang, are you feeling unwell?"
Lin Mo pointed to the surface of the stream, where the reflection of the child was still clearly visible. "Look, the person in the water is not me. I have become a child, and my face has changed. This is not my face." There was a subtle fear in his tone and an urgent desire to get an answer.
The woman looked in the direction of Lin Mo's finger and saw the silhouette of a child reflected in the water. "Sanlang, are you still asleep? That's you."
The woman's words made Lin Mo's already confused mind even more chaotic. He pinched his arm hard, confirming over and over again whether he was dreaming.
"It really hurts. I'm not dreaming. What...what is going on?" Lin Mo's words were full of helplessness and confusion.
"No, I must be dreaming."
"Wake up, wake up quickly." Lin Mo pinched himself and talked to himself.
The woman at the side was shocked by Lin Mo's frantic look. Seeing that Lin Mo had pinched his arm until it was getting redder and redder, almost bleeding, she quickly held down Lin Mo's hands to stop him from hurting himself. Her eyes were full of heartache and anxiety: "Sanlang, does it hurt? Calm down, I'll find a way for you."
The woman was secretly anxious. She tried her best to remain calm and comforted him, "Don't be afraid, Sanlang. Let's go to Uncle Li Zi's house first. Everyone is there. There must be a way."
Lin Mo didn't seem to hear it. He muttered to himself: "No, this must be a dream. It will be fine when I wake up..." His eyes began to blur and his body trembled slightly due to excessive tension and anxiety.
Seeing this, the woman became even more determined to take him to find someone. She quickly stood up, dragged Lin Mo across the bamboo bridge, and ran towards the Li Zi family who were celebrating a wedding not far away, shouting as she ran: "Mom! Aunt! Come out and take a look, Sanlang is not right!"
In the kitchen, Shen and Han were busy preparing the feast. Upon hearing their daughter's cry, they immediately dropped their work and exchanged glances, a sense of foreboding welling up in their hearts. They hurried out of the kitchen to see Xing'er, holding Lin Mo, a pale, dazed-looking figure, anxiously running toward them.
When Han saw Lin Mo's appearance, her heart suddenly tightened. She rushed forward and hugged Lin Mo tightly in her arms, tears instantly welling up in her eyes: "Sanlang, my Sanlang, what's wrong with you? Don't scare me!"
The people who came to the wedding banquet were also attracted by this sudden change. They gathered around and talked about it. Aunt Hua said with a worried look on her face: "Why did this child suddenly become like this? Could he have hysteria?" Before she finished speaking, someone nodded in agreement.
Lin Mo looked at the woman who was hugging him and crying, then looked around. People in strange clothes and with unfamiliar faces surrounded him in a black mass. The noisy discussions came like a tide, as if to drown him in this strange world.
The shock and fear intertwined together made him speechless for a moment. He could only watch it all, feeling unprecedented confusion and powerlessness.
He tried to struggle, trying to escape the suffocating encirclement, but his body seemed to be bound by an invisible force, unable to move. Finally, his vision went black, and Lin Mo lost consciousness in endless fear and confusion and fainted.
Seeing this, Han became even more panicked. She cried for help: "Hurry! Make way! Is Uncle Tie here? Let Uncle Tie see Sanlang!" Her voice was full of despair and helplessness. She just hoped that someone could rescue her child as soon as possible.
