New ink fragrance in old times
Chapter 2 A sudden turn of events
The ringing of Wang Jie's cell phone suddenly broke the silence around them, like a sudden storm, pulling the four people back from their thoughts.
He quickly and skillfully used his left hand to operate the shortcut keys on the keyboard, while his right hand accurately captured the vibrating mobile phone like a cheetah hunting. He only glanced at the screen with the corner of his eye, and the instant information penetrated his nerves like an electric current.
He slammed his hand on the table, the sound echoing in the empty dormitory with unquestionable determination: "Brothers, the senior has good news. She found that in that unremarkable old bookstore outside the school, there may be the information we need!"
Upon hearing this, Lin Mo's fingers stopped tapping on the keyboard. The fierce battle in the game instantly lost its color. His eyes instantly focused on Wang Jie, and his voice was filled with unconcealed urgency: "Tell me quickly, where is it? This is a big turning point!"
"It's that ordinary-looking old bookstore hidden on the edge of a busy street." Wang Jie's speech was a little hurried with excitement. "My senior said it's a secret base for bookworms. They have many books that can't be found on the market."
"Then why are we still hesitating? Let's set off immediately!" Li Jin almost jumped up from his chair, his eyes flashing with a desire to explore the unknown. The temporary forgetfulness of the threat of failing the course made him full of motivation.
The four of them hurriedly finished their work, as if they were explorers about to embark on a treasure hunt. They excitedly ran out the door, hailed a taxi, and headed straight for the mysterious place mentioned by the senior.
Inside the car, their conversation revolved around the upcoming discovery, interspersed with mutual banter and self-deprecation: "I thought I was going to fail the course, and I was about to give up."
"Haha, what we have now is a sudden turn of events, a ray of hope." Chen Xuan laughed.
Chen Xuan's laughter echoed in the small space, adding a relaxed atmosphere to this unusual journey.
Finally, they arrived at the legendary old bookstore. The old bookstore, carved by time, stood quietly on the street corner. The storefront looked a little shabby, as if the traces of time were engraved on the mottled wooden door.
As they pushed open the door, a scent of books that seemed to travel through time and space rushed towards them, instantly enveloping the four of them in a quiet and sacred world.
The store is softly lit, with rows of bookshelves neatly arranged. Every book exudes a historical atmosphere, waiting to be read by the right person.
"According to Senior Sister's description, the books should be at the very back, near the window," Lin Mo said softly, his eyes gleaming with anticipation. The others nodded and tiptoed through the narrow aisle, fearing to disturb the rare tranquility.
They approached the bookshelf and began to carefully leaf through each volume, each one carefully picked up and gently replaced, their movements filled with a reverence for knowledge. Lin Mo's heartbeat quickened with each turn of the page; he could feel the excitement of unveiling history.
"Look, these books are related to our homework," Wang Jie suddenly said, pointing to several yellowed books. They quickly gathered the books together, found a quiet corner, sat down, and began to read carefully.
Lin Mo, Wang Jie, Li Jin, and Chen Xuan sat together in a corner of an old bookstore, their eyes gleaming with a thirst for knowledge. Their group assignment: select a dynasty and analyze the influence of economic trade, culture, and religious beliefs on its architecture. Compare it with Western architecture of the same period, explaining the differences and connections. It was a challenging task, and they put together the information they had found and prepared for in-depth research.
"This book records the trade routes of the ancient Silk Road in great detail." Lin Mo opened one of the books, his eyes fixed on the text, afraid of missing any details.
"Then let's take pictures of all these useful materials and sort them out slowly after we go back." Li Jin suggested. He had already started taking pictures of the key pages in the book with his mobile phone.
"That's a good idea. I'll take notes and write down all the important points." Wang Jie said as he opened a brand new notebook and began to record carefully.
"Then I will be responsible for classification and organize these materials according to different topics." Chen Xuan also joined in. He picked up a few notebooks and began to write on them quickly.
The team had a clear division of labor and worked in perfect harmony, their faces lit up with long-lost smiles. It was as if they had already seen the dawn of victory. Their thirst for knowledge and exploration of the unknown filled them with immense excitement and satisfaction.
Time passed quietly as they flipped through the pages and discussed, and the light in the bookstore gradually dimmed, but they were oblivious to it, still immersed in the ocean of books.
However, just as they were immersed in joy and harvest, Lin Mo suddenly felt dizzy. The scene before his eyes began to blur, as if he was caught in a whirlpool. He tried to struggle, but found that his body was completely out of control.
His consciousness seemed to be pulled by an invisible force, gradually moving away from this real world. He felt his body become lighter, as if floating in the air. Everything around him became blurry and distant, only the pulling force became stronger and stronger.
Wang Jie noticed that something was wrong with Lin Mo and asked anxiously, "Brother Mo, what's wrong with you? Are you feeling unwell?"
Upon hearing this, Li Jin and Chen Xuan looked at Lin Mo.
Lin Mo's face was as pale as paper, with fine beads of sweat oozing from his forehead. His breathing was weak and rapid, and he looked extremely weak. It was obvious that he was in a very bad condition.
Lin Mo tried hard to respond, but his voice seemed to be blocked in his throat and he could only make a faint moan.
Seeing this, Li Jin quickly stepped forward and, together with Wang Jie, who was already half-crouching, carefully supported Lin Mo, fearing that he would fall. Wang Jie's brows were furrowed, his eyes full of worry. He gently rested Lin Mo's head on his shoulder, trying to give him some support and comfort.
Chen Xuan quickly took out his cell phone and tapped his fingers on the screen rapidly. While dialing the emergency number, he anxiously explained the situation to the other party: "Hello, this is near XX bookstore. My friend suddenly fainted and is pale. The situation is urgent. Please send an ambulance as soon as possible..." His tone was full of anxiety, and his eyes looked at Wang Jie and Li Jin from time to time, for fear of missing any changes in Lin Mo.
"Brother Mo, hold on! We'll get you to the hospital right away." Wang Jie's voice was trembling, but resolute. As he spoke, he gently patted Lin Mo's cheek with his other hand, trying to rouse him.
Chen Xuan immediately hung up the phone and quickly walked over to Wang Jie. He took Lin Mo's head with both hands and held it firmly. He took a deep breath and pressed his thumb hard on Lin Mo's Ren Zhong point, again and again, his eyes full of anticipation.
With a sharp pain, Lin Mo felt himself regain consciousness. His eyes were half-open, half-closed, filled with confusion and helplessness. His lips moved slightly, as if he wanted to say something, but only mumbled words came out. "I... I'm fine..." Lin Mo squeezed out these words with all his might, but his voice was so weak that it was almost inaudible.
Lin Mo's consciousness gradually faded. He could sense his companions' anxiety and concern, but he felt powerless to respond. His eyelids grew heavy, and the scene within his vision seemed shrouded in a thick fog, gradually losing focus. He felt an unprecedented fatigue wash over him, as if his body were bound by invisible ropes, slowly being pulled towards an unknown abyss.
Everyone saw that Lin Mo still had no reaction, but his face became paler and his breathing became weaker.
At this moment, the air was filled with tension and anxiety. The three people's hearts were in their throats. They just hoped that the ambulance would arrive as soon as possible and send Lin Mo to the hospital for treatment.
