Chapter 88 Brotherly Concerns

Morning exercises proceeded as usual, but everyone was burdened with unspoken worries. Ji Junche performed a set of boxing moves, his eyes occasionally glancing off into the distance with a solemn expression. "When we return to the capital, what will father do about this?" he asked casually, a hint of unease hidden in his tone.

Mo Yan paused, his gaze deep as water. "Prince Jing will support my brother, but the Emperor... he would never allow a woman of lowly status like Lu Ling'er to become the Crown Princess."

Mo Xian took over the conversation, his tone equally low: "Royal marriages have always been for the purpose of stabilizing the regime. Lu Linger's background clearly does not meet such standards. The Crown Princess is not just Big Brother's choice, but also the balance of the court must be considered."

The three brothers remained silent, their worries growing heavier. Although Gu Yichen had deep feelings for Lu Ling'er, the harsh reality and royal rules would become a huge obstacle between them.

"Besides," Ji Junche hesitated for a moment, and finally expressed his hidden concerns, "Brother doesn't know he's the crown prince yet. His amnesia has temporarily freed him from the constraints of his identity, but he will regain his memory sooner or later. When that happens, how will he face Lu Linger? How can we help him?"

Mo Yan frowned and spoke in a low voice, "Once Big Brother's memory is restored, Lu Ling'er will definitely be shocked. Given her personality, she won't want to drag Big Brother down with her, so she will definitely choose to leave."

Mo Xian nodded and added worriedly, "She understands Big Brother's responsibilities and status too well. It's impossible for her to stay with him."

The three of them looked at each other, their hearts filled with worry. Although they felt sorry for Gu Yichen, they also understood that a royal marriage was never a simple emotional choice. They knew that the road ahead would only become more difficult.

After morning exercise, they returned to their rooms, drenched in sweat. Gu Yichen looked as calm and composed as ever, but his brothers could tell at a glance that his heart had long since gone to Lu Linger. Last night's warmth had imbued him with a hint of tenderness that was hard to conceal, a rarity in the usually stern Gu Yichen.

Ji Junche whispered, "The only thing we can do now is to protect his relationship with Lu Ling'er before he recovers his memory. At least, don't let her get hurt."

Mo Yan and Mo Xian looked at each other and nodded at the same time. They both knew that no matter what the future held, this relationship was destined to be full of thorns, but they would do their best to stand by Gu Yichen.

After returning to his room, Gu Yichen had just finished changing when he turned around to see Lu Linger still lazily lying in bed, exhausted from the night before, lost in sleep. Her hair was disheveled, her cheeks flushed from deep sleep, revealing a languid and endearing charm. When she saw Gu Yichen, she glared at him sleepily, a hint of pouting in her eyes.

Gu Yichen couldn't help laughing. He walked to the bedside, gently stroked her messy hair, and gently reminded her, "Ling'er, it's time to get up. It won't be good if our parents see you."

Lu Linger muttered, reluctantly sitting up from the bed and yawning, a hint of coquettishness in her eyes. "How come you're so energetic? I was so tired I fell asleep halfway through the game," she complained, stretching.

Gu Yichen chuckled and leaned over to whisper in her ear: "It seems that your husband's performance last night was good, but it made you so tired."

Lu Linger's face flushed instantly. She glared at him and hurried into the bathroom. Gu Yichen looked at her flustered expression, his eyes filled with both doting and helplessness. He turned around, took out the ebony hairpin he had made for her from the cabinet, and prepared the dress she would wear today.

When Lu Linger finished washing up and saw the hairpin on the dressing table, her eyes lit up. She picked up the unique ebony hairpin and said in surprise, "Husband, did you make this hairpin yourself?"

Gu Yichen walked behind her and gently tidied up her messy hair. "Do you like it?"

"I like it, of course I like it." Lu Linger caressed the hairpin lovingly, carefully examining the phoenix carving on it, her eyes filled with wonder and gratitude. "How did you carve it so lifelike?"

Gu Yichen fixed her hair in a bun and smiled as he said, "I have loved the phoenix since I was a child. The phoenix symbolizes nobility and independence. I hope Ling'er can fly freely like a phoenix."

He helped her tie her hair into a bun and inserted the hairpin into it, his movements skillful and natural. Lu Linger looked at herself in the mirror and couldn't help but teasingly said, "My husband is so skilled, have you helped other women before?"

Gu Yichen didn't know whether to laugh or cry when he heard this. He hugged her gently and said softly, "If you don't believe me, I can prove it myself. You are the only one I love deeply."

Lu Linger blushed, stood up hurriedly, turned around and ran out of the room, patted her chest, and secretly rejoiced: "Fortunately, I ran fast!"

Gu Yichen looked at her back, his heart full of doting, and he smiled softly and shook his head. His heart had already completely belonged to her.
