Chapter 4 The Rise of the Ancient Detective

"Mom, what are we having for dinner? Ling'er hit her head and slept all day, so she's really hungry. Let's eat quickly." Lu Ling'er imitated the original owner, Lu Xinling's coquettish tone, trying to fit in naturally. She thought to herself that if she didn't eat, her stomach might discuss its protest plan with her.

Guli came out of the kitchen carrying a bowl of steaming egg noodles. With a gentle smile on her face, she placed the bowl in front of Lu Linger. "Eat quickly. Mom has made egg noodles for you."

Lu Linger looked at the egg noodles in front of her and couldn't help swallowing. She was anxious to eat, but she didn't forget to care about the rest of the family: "Mom, where are Lu Jingheng, Lu Jingming, and Lu Jingwen?"

Guli smiled slightly. "They've already gone to the kitchen to get food. Everyone's hungry, let's have dinner together."

Soon after, brothers Lu Jingheng, Lu Jingming, and Lu Jingwen returned to the dining table, each carrying a steaming hot meal. Lu Jingheng placed the food neatly on the table, while Lu Jingming and Lu Jingwen began to prepare the tableware, chatting and laughing as they went.

"Ling'er, you can finally eat," Lu Jingming said with a smile as he placed the egg noodles on the table. His voice was filled with concern and kindness, and he was clearly full of anticipation for Lu Ling'er's recovery.

Lu Jingheng took out a bottle of homemade sauce and said softly, "I made this myself, let's try it."

Guli also sat down with her own bowl of egg noodles. Everyone sat together, and the dinner atmosphere gradually became relaxed. Lu Linger took a mouthful of noodles, savoring the simple yet warm taste, and felt a little comforted.

"Mom, where is Dad? Is he still outside?" Lu Linger asked with concern while eating noodles.

Guli's smile was a little hesitant. She said softly, "Dad has something to do out today, so he might not be back until later."

Lu Linger nodded and continued to enjoy her dinner. The three brothers, Lu Jingheng, Lu Jingming, and Lu Jingwen, began to discuss their daily lives and hobbies. Although the topics were mature and steady, the tacit understanding and care between the brothers made Lu Linger feel a little warm.

After dinner, Lu Linger trudged back to her room. Although her stomach was satisfied, her mind was still racing. She had slept all day, and now she was like a fully charged battery, brimming with thoughts and plans.

She sat down at her desk and lit a small oil lamp. The glow from the paper illuminated her focused face. She picked up a pen and wrote down her plan on the rice paper: "The first step is to understand the progress of the original work. I need to know where the plot is so that I can understand what situations I might encounter."

She paused and continued writing the second step: "I need to find out if Bai Mengyao is in the same place. Her presence is crucial to me, and I must keep an eye on her movements at all times."

Then, she wrote down the third point: "Find a way to avoid Bai Mengyao. As long as I don't go to the capital, I can greatly reduce the possibility of running into Yun Junrui and Yun Haoting."

She took the pen, thought for a moment, and couldn't help muttering, "Oh, it seems I'm going to be a detective in the ancient world. However, I'm a 'new ancient', so these are just small matters!"

She stood up and walked to the window, overlooking the tranquil night scene. Her thoughts drifted back to the confusion she had felt upon arriving in this ancient world, and she couldn't help but smile. "It seems I need to adapt to this ancient rhythm. After all, to survive in this strange place, I need some wisdom from a 'modern ancient.'"

She sorted through her notes, her heart brimming with renewed determination. Though she'd slept all day, her mind remained active, as if filled with an endless desire to explore the future. She hoped tomorrow's plans would go smoothly, and she was prepared for any and all challenges that might arise.

"Starting tomorrow, I'll start all over again," she muttered to herself, a determined glint in her eyes. She took a deep breath, dimmed the lights, and lay quietly, hoping this new plan would bring her some comfort. She smiled and said to herself, "If this succeeds, should I start a 'Ancient Survival Guide' column? After all, who says modern people can't be celebrities in ancient times?"
