Chapter 259 The Land of Apocalypse Opens

After two days of walking, Lu Ling'er and her companions finally reached the location indicated by the parchment scroll. Before them lay an ancient forest, its dead branches tangled like countless skinny claws reaching out from the ground, a pervasive smell of decay. Deep within the woods lay a gloomy cave. Coiled at the entrance were several enormous pythons, their bodies gleaming with a cold, slippery sheen, their heads raised menacingly. The sight of these snakes shuddered, and Lu Ling'er took a step back, her face pale. She feared these ugly, slippery things above all else; her legs felt as if they were nailed to the ground.

Gu Yichen noticed her fear, his eyes suddenly cold, and he quickly stepped forward with his brother Ji Junche to kill the python. Looking at the quiet cave entrance, Gu Yichen turned and walked back to Lu Linger, gently holding her hand, and said softly: "Don't be afraid, I'm here."

Several people stood in front of the stone door at the entrance of the cave. Li Yun stepped forward and whispered, "Ling'er, Yichen, drop a drop of blood on your jade pendants and place them into the groove of the stone door. The passage will open."

Lu Ling'er and Gu Yichen each took out a jade pendant they'd worn since childhood. Lu Ling'er's hand trembled slightly, but after taking a deep breath, she decisively cut her finger and pressed it onto the jade pendant. A golden light burst from Lu Ling'er's jade pendant, while Gu Yichen's jade pendant shone with a deep purple light. They each slowly placed the jade pendant into its groove. A click sounded, and the heavy stone door slowly opened. From behind the stone door emanated an ancient and profound aura, as if countless secrets were hidden within.

Gu Yichen's gaze swept through the darkness behind the stone gate, his eyes still calm, as if everything before him was nothing special. He looked at Lu Ling'er, the corners of his mouth curled up slightly, and said softly, "Follow me closely, don't worry." Lu Ling'er nodded, feeling a sense of peace in her heart.

"Everyone follow closely," Gu Yichen sent a message to his family and followers, then he hugged Lu Linger in his arms and led her into the passage.

As they went deeper, Lu Ling'er gradually felt a strange wave spreading within her, as if to envelop her, even to the illusion of being sucked into nothingness. Her heart began to beat faster, and her hand unconsciously clenched Gu Yichen's arm. Just as she felt fear well up in her heart, Gu Yichen's gentle voice echoed in her ears: "Ling'er, don't be afraid, I'm here." His voice was low and steady, like a beacon in the darkness, bringing some peace to Lu Ling'er's anxious heart.

After passing through the passage, they arrived at a vast, ancient palace. The hall was eerie and empty, its dim light filtering through a few night-shining pearls embedded in the walls, outlining vague shadows. The air was thick with the dust of time, as if the entire space was silently awaiting their arrival. Lu Linger couldn't help but tighten her grip on Gu Yichen's hand, a sense of unease rising within her.

When they reached the center of the hall, Lu Linger saw a dragon throne standing in the center. Beside the throne was a set of dark dragon robes, like a relic of ancient times. It all seemed strange and ominous.

"What's going on?" Ji Yun walked over and asked Gu Yichen in confusion.

Gu Yichen and Lu Ling'er exchanged a glance, each with a hint of doubt in their eyes, but they had no intention of approaching the throne and robes. After all, everything here exuded an air of unease, not a place one could easily touch. They knew full well that this place was hiding hidden traps, and since there were no treasures to be found, there was no point in staying any longer.

Just as the two turned to leave the hall, countless blurry figures suddenly appeared around them, flashing eerie lights in the darkness. Gu Yichen's gaze focused, and he quickly protected Lu Ling'er, holding her tightly in his arms, and rushed out of the hall. The others quickly followed, closely following their footsteps. After everyone had evacuated the hall, the stone door slowly closed with a click, isolating the eerie figures.

Seeing the tightly closed stone door, everyone couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief, their faces filled with the joy of having survived. Lu Linger tightly grasped Gu Yichen's hand, feeling his warmth as she slowly calmed down. Her face flushed slightly, and she spoke in a trembling voice, "Husband, what the hell is this place? It was so scary just now..."

Gu Yichen felt her body was slightly warm, and his heart tightened. He gently hugged her tighter and whispered in her ear: "I'm sorry, Ling'er, it's all my fault. I shouldn't have let you come in and take the risk." His gentle voice was filled with apology, which soothed the fear in Lu Ling'er's heart little by little. She snuggled in his arms and felt extremely at ease.
