The all-round housekeeper is a stick

Chapter 10: Cares Most about Face

The excuse was easy to find. Lin Xiaoxia told Old Lady Lin that Lin Mumu hadn't watered the vegetables properly the previous night. Not long after she poured the water and went back, Lin Mumu came back from behind, at a different time than before.

After Lin Xiaoxia and Old Lady Lin finished talking, Lin Yuanwu also joined in the conversation. Old Lady Lin glanced at the couple and said nothing, but when she served the rice, she gave more to the others as there was nothing left in the pot.

Seeing that she could barely make half a spoonful of porridge, Lin Mumu curled her lips and walked out of the kitchen.

"Lin Mumu, take the two dirty pillowcases in the basin and the dirty pants that Xiaozhi and the others took off yesterday and wash them." When Lin Mumu turned to leave, Lin Xiaoxia quickly stopped him.

Lin Mumu pretended not to hear.

It was Old Lady Lin who spoke up again: "Let's go to the mountains to dig up some wild vegetables first. After washing the clothes, go to the pig farm and clean the pigpen. If we run up the mountain all day today, we won't have time to eat when we come back tonight."

Lin Mumu still pretended not to hear.

The threat of not having to eat wasn't a threat to her now.

She would wait until the day when Old Lady Lin said she didn't need to come back. After all, she hadn't found a place to stay yet. The dilapidated wooden house on the mountain was being treated as a wilderness by some people and wasn't suitable for her to live in.

She still needs to come back and stay in this house for a while.

Lin Mumu went back to her room to get her clothes, put on her backpack and walked out of the house again.

Seeing that she couldn't make a sound for a long time, Old Mrs. Lin glared at Lin Xiaoxia unhappily.

When she didn't know who took the apple two days ago, she was always competing with a child. Her mind was really smaller than the eye of a needle.

Lin Xiaoxia, who was glared at, didn't care. The little bastard might have been eating some wild fruit in the mountains, otherwise he would have starved to death. Now it was just a small punishment. When she was free today, she would go to the mountain and beat her up, and she would vent her anger.

Lin Xiaoxia is already calculating when is the best time to go to the mountain.

No one else said anything. They all ate the food in their own bowls and thought about their own plans.

Lin Xiaoxia went home to slack off all day to go to the toilet, and Zhuang Manman, who lost food, had no idea who lost his things.

Her son was seven years old and could answer any question she asked him. On the day she lost the apple, Lin Mumu was either watering the vegetables in the garden or cooking pig food in the pigpen.

When they were at work, apart from the old lady and several children, only Lin Xiaoxia came home twice.

Zhuang Manman was thinking about how to get the apple back. Even if he couldn't get it back, he would still make Lin Xiaoxia compensate him.

Lin Yuanwu also works in the village cannery, so the couple must have some private money.

Zhuang Manman was still wondering if the other things he had lost were also stolen by Lin Xiaoxia. He didn't know if it would be possible for them to ask her for compensation together.

Because of this, Zhuang Manman was distracted from time to time when he went to work at the cannery. He almost made a mistake before he let it go and stopped thinking about it.

When I returned home for lunch at noon, I heard Lin Xiaoxia cursing Lin Mumu, so I pulled my husband aside to discuss it.

Lin Yuanwen felt that there were only two apples. Even if his second brother's wife had stolen them, two or three days had passed and they must have been eaten. There was no evidence. With Lin Xiaoxia's personality, it would be strange for her to compensate.

"Mumu didn't even provoke her, yet she scolds and pinches her every day. She's a petty shrew. If you ask her for apples, she might even blame you for wrongly accusing her, and then there will definitely be a scene. Fighting over two apples will make the neighbors laugh."

Lin Yuanwen did not approve of his wife arguing over two apples. There were many people in the house, and the noise all day long was a headache.

Zhuang Manman glared at him in dissatisfaction, but she also knew her husband had a point. They had just made a scene over Apple a couple of days ago, and if they did it again, not only would Lin Xiaoxia be upset, but her mother-in-law would be unhappy too.

My mother-in-law cares the most about face, otherwise her family would not be so willing to support Lin Mumu.

The 10 yuan that my uncle sends every month is kept by my grandmother, which is equivalent to the pension money for the old couple.

Mrs. Chen Guixiang of the Lin family is 75 years old this year and is still in good health. She took on a job at a pig farm, taking care of two pigs in the farm and earning 6 work points a day.

Lin Manfu, 77, works as a village pond keeper, earning eight work points a day. The couple has three sons and three daughters. The eldest and second sons live in the village, but their families have since separated, and the two live with the eldest son.

The eldest son, Lin Jianshe, 49, is the team leader of Team 3. Only because Lin Xiaoxia is in his team can she go home every day to go to the toilet and be lazy.

His wife, Hong Mei, is 48 years old and is a member of the village Women's Federation. When the current women's director retires, she will be the next women's director.

Every day, I deal with the village's family affairs. I have seen too many jokes about other people's families and I am afraid that my family will become a joke in the eyes of others. I care about my reputation very much.

The couple has three sons. The eldest, Lin Yuanwen, is 28 years old and works in a cannery. His wife, Zhuang Manman, is 27 years old and also works in a cannery. They have two sons. The eldest, Lin Ruiyang, is 7 years old and has not yet started school. The younger, Lin Ruihui, is 5 years old.

The second oldest, Lin Yuanwu, is 26 years old and works at a cannery. Unlike his older brother, who works in a clerical position, Lin Yuanwu is responsible for loading and unloading, a manual labor job. His wife, Lin Xiaoxia, is 25 years old and they have two children: a 5-year-old daughter, Lin Yuxin, and a 3-year-old son, Lin Ruizhi.

The third child, Lin Yuanbin, is 21 and still in college.

The eldest daughter, Lin Yuanying, is 47 years old and married to another village. She has four children and because her village is far away, she only comes back during festivals or when she has something important to do.

The second son, Lin Jianzhong, is 46 years old, and his wife, Wang Xiuyun, is 47 years old. They have two daughters and one son.

The eldest, Lin Mei, 27, married to a local villager and worked at the town supply and marketing cooperative. The second, Lin Lan, 26, married a university classmate from another city. The third, son Lin Yuanqing, 24, worked in town. His wife, Su Tiantian, was a teacher at the town's elementary school. They had a two-year-old son, Lin Ruijia, the only grandchild of the second wife, and he was very much his own.

The second daughter, Lin Yaying, married at the age of 44 and moved to the village next door, just two mountains away from their village. She has five children.

The third daughter, Lin Sanying, is 42 years old. She married and moved to the town. She stays at home to take care of the children while her husband works in a textile factory.

The youngest son, Lin Jianhua, 39, and his wife, Lin Huaiyu, 36, were educated youth sent to the countryside. They returned to the city after receiving university. Lin Jianhua, encouraged by his wife, also passed the university entrance exam. After graduating, he used his father-in-law's connections to stay in the local area with his wife.

The couple currently has two sons and a daughter. The eldest, Lin Yuanyu, is 13 years old and in the first grade of junior high school. He will enter the second grade in September. The second child, Lin Yuanze, is 9 years old and in the fourth grade. He will enter the fifth grade in September.

The two boys were taken away when they went to college. Lin Mumu, their eight-year-old daughter, was left behind in the countryside and had never been to school.
