Xiao Han and Jiang Wan came to the village head's house.

The gate was half open, and a little boy of three or four years old was playing in the mud in the yard.

She stood at the threshold and knocked on the gate. Seeing the little boy looking over, she smiled and said, "Is there anyone at home?"

Such a small child, playing alone in the yard, must have an adult at home. She asked this question just to remind the people in the house.

Seeing that they were two strangers, the little boy immediately shouted towards the house, "Grandpa, Grandpa."

A man in his forties walked out of the house. The little boy immediately ran over, hugged one of his legs, and then tilted his head to look at Xiao Han and the other man standing at the gate of the yard.

Xiao Han immediately asked, "Excuse me, is this the village head's home?"

The middle-aged man nodded, then said, "Come in and talk. I'm the head of the village. What do you want to talk to me about?"

Xiao Han walked into the courtyard and declined the village head's invitation to sit inside. He stood in the courtyard and said directly, "I want to rent a house in the village. Do you have any vacancies here?"

The village head pointed at the two people and asked, "Do you two live together?"

Before Xiao Han could speak, Jiang Wan glared at him and said, "I'm a cultivator, I won't live in this mortal village."

When the head heard this, he didn't look scared at all. He just bowed and said, "So you are a fairy. I am not very good at seeing you. Please don't blame me, fairy."

Jiang Wan was satisfied with the other party's good attitude, and then pointed at Xiao Han and said, "Oh, she is also a cultivator, but she will temporarily live in your mortal realm."

Jiang Wan thought she was kind-hearted and revealed Xiao Han's identity as a cultivator. These mortals would definitely not dare to bully her.

However, Xiao Han just wanted to hold his forehead and sigh after hearing this. This child is still too young and can't hide things.

To be able to be the head of a village in this mortal village and to have a house built in such a grand manner, he must have the support of his relatives who are monks.

In reality, even if a mortal who could live in Fuyuan City didn't have any monastic relatives now, they must have had some connection with them in the past. Xiao Han didn't want to isolate herself from them, as this wouldn't help her integrate into the small society of Fuyuan City from the very bottom.

The village head glanced at Xiao Han and bowed to him in a dignified manner, "This old man greets the fairy."

Xiao Han hurriedly returned the greeting of a mortal woman, "You're welcome, village head."

She was not used to hearing this man who looked like a mature middle-aged uncle calling himself "old man".

The village head then invited again, "Please come into the inner room and have a chat, fairies."

Xiao Han shook his head. "You'd better tell me quickly. Are there any vacant houses for rent in this village? How much is the rent?"

It was getting late, and she had to find a place to stay quickly. Otherwise, if she stayed in an inn, the spiritual beads Jiang Yaohua gave her would be gone after just one night.

The village head thought for a moment and said, "There are empty houses, but they are very dilapidated. We also have extra empty houses at home. How about the fairy live in our house?"

Xiao Han didn't refuse outright, but said, "Can you take me to see the empty house first?"

The headman nodded in agreement, took his grandson's hand, closed the courtyard door ajar, and then led Xiao Han and the other two through the alleys between the two houses to the back. They walked along a small path for a few minutes and arrived in front of a two-room brick house built alone at the back of the village.

The house was surrounded by weeds, and some of the tiles on the eaves had fallen and shattered. Without the protection of the tiles, the rafters had begun to rot under the erosion of time, wind and rain.

There were even a few foxtail grasses swaying on the roof.

The village head pointed to the house and said, "A single young man originally lived here, but he hasn't been heard from in over ten years, and he has no other relatives. If you're not afraid, you can stay here temporarily."

Xiao Han saw the padlock on the house, which was more symbolic than practical, and asked, "Can I go in and take a look?"

The village head nodded, personally stepped forward to remove the useless lock, and then pushed open the wooden door.

The tables and chairs in the room were tilted, covered with dust and spider webs.

Xiao Han didn't go in, but asked, "What should we do with the owner's clothes, quilts and other personal belongings?"

All she needed was a place to stay; she didn't want to touch anything else.

The headman sighed, "Except for the table, chairs, and bed, everything else in this room has been taken away long ago."

Xiao Han was actually happy when he heard this, and immediately asked, "I'm renting this house, how much is the rent?"

The village head said, "If you don't mind, you can stay here first. If that boy suddenly comes back, you can return the house to him."

Xiao Han was of course happier since he didn't have to spend any money, and immediately expressed his desire to live here.

After the village head left, Xiao Han immediately said to Jiang Wan, who had stayed away out of disgust, "Little fairy, do you know the art of cleaning?"

Jiang Wan raised her chin and said, "It's just a small spell, of course I know it."

Xiao Han rolled his eyes and said with a smile, "There's too much dust in this house. Can you teach me this little spell? I'd like to try it out on the spot."

Jiang Wan sneered, "You've only just succeeded in drawing the Qi into your body, and you're already thinking of casting a spell? You're dreaming."

Xiao Han sighed secretly. It was just as she thought. She couldn't learn any magic now.

Jiang Wan saw the spider webs and dust in the room, and wanted to show off in front of Xiao Han, so she said, "Let me waste some of my spiritual power to help you clean it up."

After saying that, he walked to the door and cast a spell.

Xiao Han saw a gentle breeze blowing from the ground, and the spider webs and dust in the house curled up into a ball, then flew out and landed in the grass.

Xiao Han was overjoyed and simply loved this little magic.

She pointed to the inner room and said, "Little fairy, quickly use the cleaning magic on this room as well."

Jiang Wan was not happy with her ordering her to do things, and snorted, but she still used the cleaning technique again to clean the inner room.

While Xiao Han was thanking him, he was wondering if there was any magic that could clear the weeds around the house.
