Ru Yue Shu Yun Feng Wen Wan

Chapter 7 "The Truth"

A few days later, He Ru went to He Er's aunt to learn the essentials of gossip. Then he went to listen to gossip in the crowd, but the gossipers would not eat gossip in front of the gossiper himself.

So He Ru didn't make much progress the whole afternoon. He only saw one person say something furtively and glance at He Ru. It was obvious that he was not a professional melon eater.

So, during her evening rest break, He Ru snuck up to him. All she could hear was, "I think this is serious. Didn't you see the Tang girls go to the He family this afternoon to break off their engagement?" A group of middle-aged women, seemingly unfazed, gathered together and muttered. "And it's been a whole day, and He Wu and He Wu Er haven't come out to explain. I think this matter..." One of the women didn't elaborate on what she said; it wasn't that she had seen He Ru, but rather left it to the audience's imagination.

Just then, the furtive man, after glancing around, joined the group chat. "Yeah, I was on night watch that night, too. I saw Miss He Wu whispering to Wu Er, and then they both passed away..." He looked around. "San Gou, tell me. What happened next?" an older woman said anxiously. "Then... Oh, that's not a good thing to say. I'll just leave it at that. I turned and started to leave." Having whetted her appetite, He Ru now felt that there was something really wrong with him.

He Ru didn't listen any further. He was from Yangjia Village, so his name should be Yang Sangou. He went to find someone to confirm it and then went straight to the village chief of Yangjia Village.

After He Ru found Village Chief Yang, he could sense his displeasure with her. "Hey girl," he asked, "what brings you to me so late at night?" He Ru, unfazed by his emotion, replied with a smile, "Nothing much, just asking about someone." Seeing Village Chief Yang's reaction, He Ru handed a small bag of candy she had brought to the village chief. "This little bit of candy is for Uncle Yang to sweeten his mouth. I admire you all so much for your dedication to the villagers. If it weren't for you, we might have been captured by the Tartars from the Northern Rong."

After hearing this, Uncle Yang seemed to be pleased by He Ru's compliment, and also seemed to be pleased by the bag of candy. His attitude immediately changed drastically, and he asked with a smile, "Who is it?" "Yang Sangou," He Ru said directly.

After hearing this, Village Chief Yang said, "This Yang Sangou is the most outrageous person in our village. He's the only one in his family and has been hanging around town since he was little. He rarely spends time in the village. He and Yang Daba are very annoying in our village. They've stolen things from everyone in the village."

"Ah, are they really like this? The fact that you've been able to keep them under control for so long without causing trouble, Uncle Yang, is truly remarkable. Looking around, I'm afraid there's no other village chief as wise and capable as you in the surrounding villages." He Ru was initially shocked, but then his expression sank into awe. Village Chief Yang didn't quite grasp the meaning of the idioms she was using, but he was overwhelmed by the fact that he could use so many words to describe himself.

He Ru asked again: "Uncle Yang, do you know who is following our team these days?"

"Speaking of which! You've found the right person. Although our team doesn't accept outsiders, two families wanted to join us because of our large team. Of course, we couldn't agree, so they said they would just follow us at a distance. We don't have to worry about them if we have any problems. If they can keep up, they can follow. If they can't, they don't have to wait for us."

"Okay, thank you Uncle Yang, I won't disturb you from having dinner, I'll go back first."

"Go back. Be careful on the road. If you have any questions, you can always come to me."

He Ru nodded and left.

The reason why He Ru didn't go directly to the village chief He to ask about the two families behind was, firstly, because He Ru asked Yang Sangou in order to change the subject, and secondly, because when the two families first came, the village chief He asked the people in Hejia Village to pay attention to them, so He Ru actually had some understanding of them.

From then on, He Ru went from monitoring one person to monitoring three. But tonight, He Ru saw Yang San Gou sneaking behind the group while everyone was asleep. He Ru told her uncle that she was on night watch tonight, and she had a hunch that Yang San Gou might make another move. Now it seemed that there was something fishy going on. It seemed that her sixth sense was still useful. So she followed him. She stopped not far from Yang San Gou and hid behind a nearby tent. From this place, He Ru could hear their conversation and see him if she looked out.

Yang Sangou found one of the groups and said to the night watchman, "Hey, go get Zhao Gang for me." The man, seemingly unaware of him, pointed a sharpened stick at Yang Sangou when he suddenly approached him, and asked warily, "What are you looking for my cousin for?" Yang Sangou immediately stepped back and said, "I mean no harm. Just go find him and tell him it's Yang Sangou looking for him, and he'll understand."

The night watchman still seemed worried, so he asked Yang Sangou to retreat a few meters, almost to He Ru, so He Ru had to hide.

After a while, the man named Zhao Gang came out. He was the most outstanding person in the team. He was very tall, about 1.9 meters tall, weighing about 180 kilograms, and his body was full of muscles, which made him look very powerful.

As soon as Zhao Gang came out, he walked in the opposite direction of the team. Yang San followed him happily. He Ru didn't know his strength, so he followed him slowly. He stopped only when he was far enough away from the team.

Zhao Gang asked, "Did anyone see you coming here?" Yang Sangou nodded and said, "No, I was avoiding people." "If you have anything to say, come to me," Zhao Gang said patiently. Perhaps Yang Sangou saw that the rumor had been spreading for a long time, He Ru had no intention of clarifying it, and the He family had no intention of pursuing it. Yang Sangou didn't know what to do next, so he went to Zhao Gang and asked, "What should I do if the He family hasn't responded yet? They don't seem to care about this matter."

Zhao Gang thought for a while and said, "Don't worry, you should work harder tomorrow and come to me again tomorrow. If they still don't move tomorrow, you don't have to worry about it. You don't have to worry about what happens next." After that, he took out a large piece of gold from his arms, about fifty taels, and handed it to Yang Sangou and said, "Go and divide this money with Yang Daba. Call Yang Daba tomorrow. With the money, you can go to the nearest town to have fun. But don't come back to the team. If I find out that the news has leaked, hum!" He lowered his head and grabbed a stone, and the stone broke with a sound.

This really shocked Yang Sangou, and even the good mood he had just received the money disappeared. He bent down repeatedly and said, "Don't worry, I will never say a word. I haven't seen you either, but the only person who knows that I have seen you is..." He didn't finish his words and looked in the direction of the tent. "Go away."

Then Zhao Gang did not return to his tent, but went to another team. Oh, okay, okay, how do we play, right? Here are the skewers.

He Ru felt that he might be getting the truth.
