Legacy: Miracle

Chapter 68 The Trial of the Soul

Under the gentle caress of the light of wisdom, the expedition team seemed to transcend the shackles of time and space, stepping into an unprecedented illusory world. In this space, light and shadow intertwine into a flowing scroll, dazzling with colors, yet concealing endless depths and unknowns. The air, the faint fragrance of flowers and the lingering touch of magic, lingering like a veil across everyone's heart, intoxicating everyone while also making them wary.

"Welcome to the Trial Grounds of the Soul." A gentle yet solemn voice echoed slowly through the void. It seemed to carry the weight of time and imbued with endless wisdom. "Here, you will face your inner fears and desires. Only by overcoming them can you gain true strength and growth."

Yun Yi took a deep breath of the air, a blend of floral fragrance and magical energy, and gazed around with a determined gaze. His teammates' expressions varied. Some had furrowed brows, their eyes revealing unease and anxiety; others were curious, full of anticipation for the upcoming challenge. Yun Yi himself, however, was filled with determination and resolve. He gently tightened his grip on the longsword, the blade gleaming with a cold and dazzling light under the light of wisdom.

"No matter what I encounter, I will not give up." Yun Yi silently warned himself in his heart. Although his voice was small, it was extremely firm.

Suddenly, the entire space began to twist violently. Brilliant beams of light shot out from all directions, enveloping every member of the expedition team like a dragnet. Yun Yi felt his vision go dark before he was suddenly pulled by an irresistible force, as if drawn into a bottomless vortex.

When Yun Yi opened his eyes again, he found himself in a completely different world—a desolate and brutal battlefield. All around him were crumbling ruins, and smoke from the battlefield hung thick in the air for a long time. In his ears, he heard the deafening cries of battle and the clashing of weapons, as if the entire world were immersed in endless war and destruction.

Even more shocking was the discovery that Yun Yi was wearing ancient armor and holding a gleaming halberd. His opponent was a mysterious enemy clad in a black robe, his face hidden beneath the shadow of his hood. His eyes gleamed with a dark green light, revealing endless murderous intent and evil.

"This...what's going on?" Yun Yi was filled with fear and shock, but years of experience helped him calm down quickly. He understood that this must be part of the trial, the manifestation of his deep fear and anxiety.

The black-robed enemy sneered, his figure closing in like a ghost, his attack fierce and ferocious. Yun Yi gritted his teeth, brandishing his halberd with all his might to block the blow. Every time the halberd collided with the black-robed enemy's weapon, a deafening sound rang out, leaving his palm numb and his arm aching. Yet, he never retreated, knowing that this was a battle of faith and will.

At this moment, a familiar yet distant voice sounded softly in Yun Yi's ears: "Yun Yi, have you forgotten your original intention? Why are you fighting?" The voice was gentle and firm, as if it had crossed the boundaries of time and space and struck the depths of his soul.

Yun Yi was startled. It was his father's voice! He closed his eyes, and the scene of practicing swordplay with his father as a child emerged in his mind. His father always told him with a smile: "The sword is a tool for protection, not a weapon for killing. You must remember that true strength comes from the purity and determination of your heart."

"For justice! For peace!" Yun Yi suddenly opened his eyes and shouted. His voice was filled with unprecedented determination and strength, as if a warm current surged through his body, dispelling all fear and confusion. He seemed to see a bright future beckoning him, the peace and tranquility he had always dreamed of.

With Yun Yi's furious shout, the black-robed enemy suddenly halted its attack. Its body began to tremble, and the faint green light in its eyes gradually dimmed. Then, it let out a shrill cry before dissipating into a puff of black smoke. Yun Yi stood there, watching the gradually dissipating black smoke and the battlefield return to peace, feeling an indescribable joy and pride well up in his heart.

"We... passed?" Leah's voice was trembling with disbelief. She looked around and saw that her teammates had also woken up, each face filled with the same joy and pride.

"Yes, you passed." The Guardian's voice echoed again in the void, gentle and solemn. "The test of the soul is not about defeating external enemies, but about conquering one's own inner fears and desires. You have accomplished this, and I am proud of you."

The expedition team members smiled at each other, their eyes gleaming with triumph. They knew that the hardships and efforts along the way had not been in vain; they also knew that there would be more challenges and difficulties to overcome on the road ahead. But they also firmly believed that as long as they had faith, courage, and perseverance, nothing could stop them from moving forward.
