Chapter 54: The Trial of the Fountain of Oblivion
Deep within the Misty Forest lies a forbidden land, forgotten by the world. Yun Yi and Arya, two travelers with a profound mission, finally set foot in this fabled realm. Their goal is to find the Fountain of Oblivion, a place that can cleanse the soul and restore memories, thereby repairing an ancient pact and confronting the threat of the Shadow Powers.
Passing through layers of mist, they arrived at a tranquil valley. Mist lingered within, as if the entire world were enveloped in a gentle haze. A spring gurgled over a boulder, merging into a clear pond below, creating a melodious sound. All around, the chirping of birds and insects blended with the gurgling of the spring water into a tranquil and melodious melody.
"Look, that's the Fountain of Oblivion," Yun Yi said to Arya, pointing to the spring ahead. His voice was filled with excitement, but also with a certain amount of caution.
Arya stared at the clear spring water, a complex emotion flashing in her eyes. She whispered, "I feel that there is some mysterious power in the spring water, as if it is calling me."
The two slowly approached the spring, only to find the surrounding mist growing thicker, as if some force was preventing them from approaching. Just then, a strange wave emanated from the spring, directly impacting their hearts.
"Be careful, this place is not simple." Yun Yi gripped his sword tightly and looked around vigilantly.
Arya nodded, her hands clenched into fists, obviously trying to resist the invasion of that power. At this moment, the surrounding scenery began to distort and deform, and the originally peaceful valley seemed to have turned into an endless maze.
"This is an illusion, we must stay awake." Yun Yi said in a deep voice. He held Arya's hand tightly to prevent them from getting lost in the illusion.
They moved forward cautiously, each step filled with uncertainty and danger. Suddenly, a tempting voice rang in Yun Yi's ears: "Come, as long as you are willing, you can possess endless power and become the master of this world."
Yun Yi's heart stirred, and he felt a strong temptation. However, he knew that this was an illusion test, so he took a deep breath and shook his head firmly: "No, this is not the kind of power I want. I want the power to protect Arya and safeguard this forest."
As soon as the words fell, the seductive voice disappeared without a trace. Yun Yi turned to look at Arya and found that she was also facing a similar test.
"Arya, hold on, don't be fooled by the illusion." Yun Yi shouted loudly, trying to use his voice to awaken Arya's sanity.
Arya closed her eyes tightly, and countless images emerged in her mind, including fragments of her lost memories and her vision of the future. However, among these images, there were also some dark and twisted scenes, which kept tempting her, trying to make her fall into despair and madness.
"No, I cannot be defeated by these illusions." Arya suddenly opened her eyes, a determined light flashing in them. She took a deep breath, trying to calm her inner turmoil, and then held Yun Yi's hand tightly. "Let's overcome these trials together."
The two walked hand in hand and continued to move forward. They knew that only by overcoming their inner fears and desires could they pass the test of this forbidden land and be baptized by the spring water.
As they delve deeper, the illusions around them become more and more vivid. Sometimes, they see what they desire most; sometimes, they see what they fear most. However, no matter what challenges they face, they always remain clear-headed and steadfast, using each other's support and encouragement to resist the invasion of illusions.
Finally, amidst the distortion and chaos, they saw the light ahead. It was a pure land without illusions or temptations, and the Fountain of Oblivion lay quietly there, waiting for their arrival.
They walked quickly to the spring, feeling the coolness and tranquility brought by the crystal clear water. At this moment, the spring suddenly rippled, and a warm and mysterious power surged from the spring, enveloping them.
Arya felt a warm current flowing into her heart, and the lost fragments of memory began to become clearer. She saw her past as a forest guardian, the disaster that caused her to lose her memory, and the time she met and spent with Yun Yi.
Yun Yi also felt the new power brought by the spring water. It was a pure force that could fight against the power of shadow, and it filled his body with unprecedented strength and vitality.
When the spring water stopped flowing, the two smiled at each other. They knew that they had successfully passed the test of the Fountain of Oblivion and gained new power and memory.
"Thank you, Yun Yi. Without you, I might not have been able to make it this far." Arya looked at Yun Yi gratefully, tears glistening in her eyes.
Yun Yi shook his head slightly and smiled, "Don't say that, Arya. We are partners and we support each other. No matter what difficulties we encounter in the future, we will face them together."
