Legacy: Miracle

Chapter 285 The Arrival of a Mysterious Visitor

In the slightly crowded yet well-organized camp at the Spirit Crystal Mine, the expedition team members were busy sorting their newly collected Spirit Crystals. A faint sense of joy and accomplishment filled the air. However, this tranquility didn't last long before it was shattered by a sudden commotion.

"Who is it?" Kevin's shout pierced the air. He stood up abruptly, his gaze fixed on the camp entrance. A mysterious visitor, draped in a black cloak, slowly entered. The hem of the cloak swayed gently in the wind, but it couldn't conceal the arrogance that emanated from him.

"I am an envoy from the Shadow Council. You can call me... Shadow Envoy." The mysterious visitor's voice was low and magnetic, yet it carried unquestionable authority. "I have come here to discuss a possible collaboration with you."

Yun Yi frowned slightly. He signaled the team members to remain calm while he slowly stepped forward and stood face to face with Shadow Envoy. "Cooperation? We don't seem to know each other, and we don't know what you mean by cooperation." Yun Yi's tone was calm and cautious. He knew that at this moment, any carelessness could cause unnecessary trouble.

The Shadow Envoy smiled softly, a subtle cunning hidden within. "Captain Yun Yi, I'm well aware of your expedition team's performance within this spiritual crystal vein. You discovered the crystal beast cub and successfully stabilized the flow of spiritual energy within the vein. These are significant achievements."

Yun Yi's heart trembled, but he remained calm on the surface: "It seems that you are well aware of our actions. However, this does not mean that we will easily accept your cooperation proposal."

The Shadow Envoy spread his hands, seemingly unfazed by Yun Yi's caution. "Captain Yun Yi, you are a smart man. You should understand that in this world where the strong are respected, cooperation is often more advantageous than fighting alone. We, the Shadow Council, possess resources and power that you cannot even imagine. By cooperating with us, you will gain unprecedented benefits."

"For example?" Yun Yi asked lightly, with a hint of amusement in his eyes, as if waiting for the other party to reveal more cards.

"For example, we can provide you with a stable supply of spirit crystals, so you don't have to worry about resources. We can also help you tame that crystal beast cub, making it your most powerful aid." The Shadow Envoy's words were full of temptation. "Of course, in exchange, we need you to share a portion of the mineral resources and... partial control over that crystal beast cub."

The expedition team erupted in an uproar. Arya clenched her fists, her eyes gleaming with determination. "The Crystal Beast Cub is our companion. We can't hand it over to anyone else!"

Kevin and Feng Wuhen also expressed their opinions. Their stance was consistent with Arya's and they would never allow anyone to harm their teammates.

Yun Yi gently raised his hand, signaling the team members to be quiet. He gazed deeply at Shadow Envoy and spoke slowly, "Mr. Shadow Envoy, your proposal does sound very attractive. But I must make one thing clear: the Crystal Beast cub is our friend and our family. We will not sacrifice it for any benefit."

The Shadow Envoy's expression darkened slightly, but he quickly regained his composure. "Captain Yun Yi, you are wise, but also stubborn. I hope you understand that the power of the Shadow Council is beyond your imagination. Making an enemy of us is not a wise choice for you."

Yun Yi smiled faintly, his eyes revealing a fearless and resolute look. "Mr. Shadow Envoy, our expedition team may not be strong, but we have faith, courage, and the strength of unity. We will not fear any threats, nor will we easily compromise. If you truly wish to cooperate, then please show your sincerity, rather than trying to force us with threats."

The atmosphere in the camp suddenly became tense, with the expedition members, weapons in hand, ready for battle. Although they were nervous, their eyes revealed an unyielding determination.

The Shadow Envoy was silent for a moment, as if weighing something. Finally, he slowly spoke, "Captain Yun Yi, I admire your courage. Perhaps we can find another way to cooperate. We, the Shadow Council, do not demand control of the Crystal Beast cubs, but we do require your support in the mineral resources. In return, we can provide you with protection and ensure your safety on this land."

Yun Yi frowned. He knew that cooperation with the Shadow Council was fraught with uncertainty and risk. But he also understood that in this perilous world, having a powerful ally was always better than having an enemy.

"Mr. Shadow Envoy, I will consider your proposal. But before that, I need to make a few points clear to you: First, our expedition team is independent, and we will not become a vassal of any force; second, the distribution of mineral resources must be fair and reasonable and must not harm our interests; finally, if any behavior that violates our principles occurs during the cooperation process, we have the right to terminate the cooperation immediately." Yun Yi's words were firm, leaving no room for compromise.

The Shadow Envoy nodded, seemingly satisfied with Yun Yi's response. "Captain Yun Yi, you are a principled man. I like to work with people like you. Please give me some time. I will bring your conditions back to the Shadow Council for discussion. I believe that we will be able to find a cooperation plan that satisfies both parties."
