My Fair Princess: The Queen's Rebirth

Chapter 17 Qing'er, what do you think of Erkang?

Qiao'er was about to follow her princess inside, but when she turned around, she found that the man was still standing there, so she lowered her voice and shouted angrily, "Why are you still here? Is this the place for you to stay?"

Xiao Jian opened his mouth and said nothing else.

Instead, he clasped his hands together and bowed slightly to her.

Then he jumped lightly and jumped directly onto the wall.

Qiao'er looked up at the man on the wall and saw him turn over and disappear into the darkness. She murmured softly, "He's quite sensible. If he doesn't leave, I'll really call for someone to arrest him."

After she heard no more sounds outside, she tiptoed back into the house with peace of mind.

Just at this moment Qing'er came out.

When Qing'er saw Qiao'er come in, she pulled her aside without saying a word, then turned back to look into the room where the old Buddha was. After confirming that the old Buddha had fallen into a deep sleep, she asked, "Is that person still in the yard outside?"

"To answer Gege, he has already left."

Qiao'er answered truthfully.

"That's good. Fortunately, the Empress Dowager didn't ask any further questions." Qing'er finally breathed a sigh of relief when she learned that the man had left the Cining Palace.

The next morning.

Qing'er helped the old lady wash and change her clothes as usual.

But strangely, the image of the man standing in front of her holding a flute after falling from the roof last night kept appearing in her mind.

As she thought about it, she couldn't help laughing out loud.

But she quickly suppressed the joy in her heart and continued to dress Karl Lagerfeld.

However, all of this was seen by Karl Lagerfeld.

"Qing'er."

The old lady looked in the mirror at Qing'er who was dressing herself up and saw that she looked a little uneasy early in the morning.

"Qing'er?" Seeing that she didn't respond, the old lady called out softly again.

Qing'er suddenly looked up and quickly leaned forward to respond, "Yes, Qing'er will get it right away." She thought that the old lady wanted to rinse her mouth, so she immediately turned around and prepared to get the bowl for rinsing her mouth.

"Qing'er, what's wrong with you?" Seeing Qing'er looking lost, the old lady frowned slightly, "Didn't you sleep well last night?"

After hearing this, Qing'er paused and nodded.

I really didn't sleep well last night.

"If you didn't sleep well, just sleep a little longer. You can ask others to do small things like washing and changing clothes. There's no need to do it yourself." The old lady turned around and held Qing'er's hand.

Qing'er came back to her senses and smiled, "Qing'er grew up by your side. Your love for me far surpasses that for anyone else. Besides, it is Qing'er's blessing to be able to serve Master Fo."

"But Qing'er, you are already of marriageable age. It's time to let them do their thing. Do you think you will still come and serve an old woman like me every day after you get married?"

The old lady teased Qing'er.

Although he was joking on the surface, he actually felt really sorry for Qing'er.

Besides, Qing'er is indeed old enough to get married.

Moreover, Erkang was the best candidate she had chosen. The most important point was that she had already discussed their marriage with the emperor, and the emperor approved of their marriage.

Besides, Erkang goes to Shufangzhai all day long now.

So why not take advantage of the situation now to help Erkang and Qing'er? Otherwise, they will be snatched away by others.

"Master Buddha, Qing'er will stay with you for the rest of her life."

"Why are you so stubborn, kid?" The old lady continued in a gentle tone, "Erkang and you grew up together, so you can be considered childhood sweethearts. I've seen you two chatting happily every day, and I think Erkang is a boy of good character and steady conduct. He will definitely make a good husband after marriage."

Qing'er listened carefully.

But my heart was extremely calm, without any ripples.

The old lady asked straight to the point, "Qing'er, what do you think of Erkang?"

"Master Buddha, you asked me this in front of so many people, and I don't know how to answer." When Qing'er was about to continue speaking, the little maid at the door suddenly ran in and interrupted the conversation between Master Buddha and Qing'er.

The old lady's face darkened. "Can't you see I'm talking to Princess Qing? Why don't you just go to the Imperial Household Department and receive your punishment?"

"Master, please calm down. I know I was wrong."

The little maid quickly knelt on the ground and begged for mercy.

"Hurry up and tell me what's going on?" the old lady shouted sternly.

"It's Master Erkang from the Scholar's Mansion," the little maid replied tremblingly, head lowered. "He said he had something important to discuss with Princess Qing, so I offended the Empress Dowager and Princess Qing. I hope the Empress Dowager will forgive me."

When the old lady heard that it was Erkang who came to see Qing'er, a smile immediately appeared on her face. She patted Qing'er's hand behind her back with relief, stood up and took her out.

"May the Buddha live a thousand years and a thousand years."

When Erkang saw Qing'er supporting the old lady coming out, he hurried forward to pay his respects to the old lady.

The old lady was very fond of Erkang. She waved to him and waited until he came to her side before asking, "Erkang, I heard you came to look for Qing'er?"

"Your Majesty, I'm planning to borrow Qing'er from you," Erkang replied.

"Oh? Really? Could you tell me why you're looking for Qing'er? Otherwise, I will never lend her to you." The old lady turned her head to look at Qing'er and raised her eyebrows at her.

Qing'er raised her head and fixed her gaze on Erkang's face, only to find that he was looking at her with difficulty.

She guessed that Erkang had come to Cining Palace to find her specifically because of the matter at Shufangzhai, otherwise he would not have done so.

"Master Buddha, you advised me to let go just now when you were in there, but now it seems that the one who is most reluctant to let go is you, Master Buddha."

Qing'er has always been able to speak like this in front of the Empress Dowager, and even the Emperor has never received such treatment.

If it were someone else today, he would definitely be scolded.

"Go ahead." The old lady nodded in agreement.

"Thank you, Your Majesty. Qing'er will return to the Cining Palace as soon as possible."

The Empress Dowager smiled and said, "It's okay. There are other people taking care of things in the Cining Palace. Take your time. There's no need to rush back."

Qing'er followed Erkang out of the Cining Palace and walked beside him silently. When they were almost at the door of Shufangzhai, she stopped.

"Erkang, the maid from the Cining Palace just now said that you wanted to discuss something important with me. I think it's about Princess Mingzhu, right?"

Erkang was stunned for a moment, then pretended to be mysterious and said, "You'll know what this is about when you get to Shufangzhai."

"If you don't tell me, I will go back to the Cining Palace immediately."

Qing'er raised her eyes and met Erkang's gaze. She found that his eyes were flickering, and she knew that she had guessed right.

It seems that he has fallen in love with Princess Mingzhu without realizing it.

Otherwise, given his personality, he would have jumped out to explain long ago. Why would he let others guess?
