A Girl Traveling Through Troubled Times

Chapter 34: Banquet 2: Being Harassed by a Pervert

After escaping, Guier didn't dare to go back to the hall, for fear of meeting Boss Liu again, so she found a secluded corner and hid there. Just as she hid, she heard voices and a man and a woman walking towards this side.

Gui'er watched the person approach and found out that it was Song Xichen and the young lady from Zhou's Silk Shop, a relative of the third concubine Chunhong. Gui'er was severely punished because of her last time, and she didn't expect that their family would come this time as well.

Gui'er originally wanted to find Song Xichen and tell him that Sha Yanxiao was a bandit, but now seeing Miss Zhou was there, she decided to wait and see.

Miss Zhou kept trying to hold Song Xichen's hand, but Song Xichen cleverly dodged her every time. Miss Zhou followed behind Song Xichen with a look of grievance on her face.

The two of them walked to the corner where Gui'er was hiding. Song Xichen turned his head and said to Miss Zhou in a helpless yet polite tone, "Miss Zhou, there are still many guests in the hall who need my attention. I will not accompany you any longer. Please go back."

The words were so obvious that Miss Zhou felt embarrassed to continue pestering the other person, so she turned around and prepared to go back.

When Gui'er saw this, she was about to go out and say hello to Song Xichen, but suddenly she heard Wu Ma's voice scolding from behind: "You little bastard, there are so many guests in the hall, why don't you go and help but run here to hide." As she said that, she came over and pulled Gui'er's ear.

Gui'er quickly defended herself, "I'm here to see the young master."

Song Xichen also heard the voice and walked forward and said, "Auntie Wu, please let go first." Then he asked Gui'er, "What do you want from me?"

Gui'er was about to speak when she saw Wu Ma standing there. Miss Zhou was also about to leave, but when she heard what they said, she stopped.

Song Xichen was a little puzzled, and then he said, "Didn't you say, "You need me for something? What's wrong?"

Gui'er had no choice but to say, "The eldest wife is looking for you."

Upon hearing this, Song Xichen walked towards the hall. Gui'er followed him, thinking that she should find a chance to tell him later.

Back in the hall, everyone was already sitting at their tables. Captain Duan and Sha Yanxiao, the honored guests, sat at the head of the table along with Grandpa Song, Song Xichen, and Song Xilun. Gui'er thought, "Song Xichen knows this now, even without her having to say anything."

She and other servants stood by and listened to the conversation, but they kept a close eye on that table. However, they did not see any unusual expression on Song Xichen's face.

Gui'er was feeling strange, but when she turned around, she found Taohua looking nervous. She followed her gaze and saw that it was Song Tingting.

I saw that her face was pale and she was still shaking.

Gui'er guessed that she probably recognized Sha Yanxiao.

Fortunately, Song Tingting was sitting with other female members of the family and not in the chief seat.

So Sha Yanxiao didn't notice Song Tingting's existence, or he had noticed it but didn't care?

At this time, Mr. Song suggested that everyone have a toast, and all the guests stood up.

Gui'er took the opportunity to pull Taohua over to Song Tingting and said, "Miss, I see you don't seem to be feeling well. Let's take you back to your room."

Then Taohua and she hurriedly supported her and walked out of the hall before everyone sat down.

Back at the young lady's courtyard, Gui'er was about to turn around and leave when the young lady grabbed her.

"Gui'er, do you still recognize that guy? That young marshal, don't you think he looks a lot like the guy we were with back then?"

Guier understood it in one day. She nodded and said, "I think so too, but it's impossible for a bandit to suddenly become a young marshal."

She comforted Song Tingting and said, "Miss, don't worry. I will find a chance to tell the young master and ask him to investigate. He is a policeman and will find out quickly. You should take a rest first."

Then Gui'er turned around and walked out, and Taohua followed her with a droopy face, looking listless.

Guier asked her, "What's wrong?"

Taohua said gloomily, "I envy you so much. You have the ability to help the young lady. I can't do anything."

Gui'er felt that Taohua was truly kindhearted, so she smiled and said to her, "No, the young lady really needs comfort right now. You can go in and serve her. She hasn't eaten much either, so you can go to the kitchen and get her something to eat. Isn't that something you can do for her?"

When Taohua heard this, her eyes sparkled and she said happily, "Okay."

Gui'er sneaked back to the banquet hall. At this time, the atmosphere at the banquet had become very relaxed. The guests stood up and toasted each other. Some guests staggered to other tables to find others to drink with.

She secretly ran back to where she was standing and pretended nothing had happened.

After about half an hour, guests began to leave one after another, and some female guests who were unfortunately drunk had to be helped out by maids like Guier.

Gui'er and Axiang finally helped a fat rich lady out of the door and got on a rickshaw.

Gui'er was about to turn around and go back to help another female guest, but just as she reached the entrance to the hall, she was blocked by a drunk old man. He staggered forward, reeking of alcohol, and said, "Girl, help me up."

Seeing that he was about to fall, Ah Xiang and Gui'er had no choice but to support him, then turned around and called other male servants. Unexpectedly, the old man took the opportunity to touch them all over. Gui'er and Ah Xiang were so scared that they let go, and saw that the old man was about to fall.

Two male servants came up to support him. The old man was unhappy when he saw that it was a man. He cursed and said, "You, the Song family, are not good at treating guests. You still say you treat us with courtesy. Bullshit, bullshit."

Wu Ma walked over and slapped Gui'er and Ah Xiang in the face, cursing, "You two are dead. This is Mr. Liang, the pawnshop owner. What's wrong with helping him? Do you think you're a princess? Hurry and help him."

Ah Xiang and Gui'er felt burning pain on their faces. After being scolded by Wu Ma, Ah Xiang was frightened and had to reach out to help again. Gui'er hesitated for a moment, and when she was about to help, the male servant she was supporting pulled her hand away.

Gui'er was a little surprised. She looked closely and realized that this was the coolie Ah Hu. When Gui'er first came, Wu Ma wanted to marry her to him.

Ah Hu winked at Gui'er, asking her to go away, and then he and Ah Xiang helped the old man out. While they were going out, the old man secretly reached out his hand and pinched Ah Xiang's butt.

Everyone standing in the back saw it, but chose to remain silent. Gui Er was about to step forward to stop it when Wu Ma slapped her in the face again and cursed, "Little hoof, do you want to rebel?"

Gui'er lost her balance and almost fell to the ground. A strong hand grabbed her arm.

Gui'er thought it was Song Xichen, but when she turned around, she saw it was Sha Yanxiao.

She quickly stood up, bowed to Sha Yanxiao and said, "Thank you, Marshal."

Sha Yanxiao turned around and bowed to Master Song, his three wives, and the two young masters who had escorted him out. He said, "Thank you, Master Song, for the banquet and the military funds."

Then he turned around and left.
