Chapter 45: Pursuing the Truth

"How could I, an internationally renowned director, possibly be the boyfriend of an ordinary woman like you? Your idea is simply ridiculous!" Mo Yunting's words resonated like a thunderclap. His eyes were cold and resolute, as if telling Cui Xueying that there was an unbridgeable chasm between them.

To prevent her from continuing to pester him, Mo Yunting uttered these harsh words without mercy, then sidestepped past her. His movements were clean and decisive, without a moment's hesitation. This was the best solution so far. He knew that if he didn't take decisive action, things would only become more complicated. To prevent her from questioning him further, he forced himself to move quickly, far away from her sight.

Each step felt like treading on the edge of a knife, yet he knew it was a necessary decision. He couldn't let his emotions affect his career and image. Cui Xueying's heartbroken voice echoed behind him, but he didn't dare turn back, fearing that turning around would soften his heart. Yet, deep down, a voice kept questioning: Do I really have to treat her so cruelly?

Cui Xueying's face, once brimming with anticipation and joy, seemed to be frozen by a sudden frost, stiff and cold. Her eyes widened, filled with disbelief and despair, as she stared at Mo Yunting's retreating figure, as if she wanted to carve that familiar figure into the depths of her soul.

As Mo Yunting's footsteps receded, his figure grew increasingly blurred, finally disappearing into the vast sea of people. Cui Xueying's heart felt as if it were being pierced by thousands of tiny needles, excruciating pain. Tears flowed uncontrollably like a flood. Her body trembled slightly, like a leaf in the wind, teetering on the verge of collapse.

Cui Xueying stood there, stunned, motionless for a long time. As time passed, her legs began to weaken, and her body involuntarily slid down the wall, finally sitting on the cold ground. She hugged her knees tightly, buried her head deep in her arms, and let the tears of sorrow flow freely. Her miserable sobs echoed throughout the silent street, a plaintive cry that was heartbreaking.

It felt like a million ants crawling across her heart, gnawing at her, causing her unbearable pain. If she said there was no connection between them, she wouldn't believe it! Why did he refuse to face the problem? Could it be that those three months of blankness were hiding painful memories that he couldn't face, causing him to avoid it?

No, if that were the case, why would he be here tonight? There was an indescribable sadness in his eyes as he looked at her, and those eyes were clearly filled with deep affection.

Determined to unravel the tangled web of thoughts and uncover the ambiguous bond between them, she resolved to get to the bottom of it. She returned home and sat quietly by the window, gazing into the distance, her mind a tangle of emotions. Thoughts tangled and entangled in her mind, leaving her feeling bewildered and lost. She knew only by unraveling the ambiguous bond could she find inner peace.

Determined, she seemed to be donning a layer of resolute armor. She began to carefully recall every detail of their relationship, every conversation, every glance, leaving no clue unturned. Like a detective, she pursued the truth, but her mind still conjured blurry images, sometimes even images that didn't belong in this world.

Throughout this process, she sometimes felt pain and entanglement, and sometimes filled with anticipation and hope. She gradually realized that sorting out these chaotic thoughts would require courage and time. But she firmly believed that as long as she persisted, she would eventually uncover the answers hidden in the fog.
