Dethroned the Crown Princess? Then she became your mother
Chapter 506: A Feeling of Strangeness
"Master, what's wrong with you?" Her voice was filled with panic and fear. She hurriedly caught the staggering master, squatted down, hugged him tightly, and said in a trembling voice, "Master, you, you wake up, master!" Suddenly, she realized the presence of the emperor, turned her eyes to the emperor, and called again, her voice full of anxiety.
"What's wrong? Give it to me." Emperor Murong Shuo paused, glanced over, then quickly stepped forward, extending his arm to signal Chunmei to hand her master over to him. He took the woman in his arms, holding her tightly in his arms, his eyes gently falling on her face, then slowly moving to her bulging belly.
"Why did you suddenly faint?" He murmured softly, a sense of foreboding welling up in his heart. He touched her forehead lightly with his fingers, feeling the unusual warmth, as if she had a fever.
From her disappearance to their reunion, he felt that she had changed drastically, becoming both unfamiliar and reminiscent of her past self. However, that unique aura was still familiar to him.
"Your Majesty, our master..." Chunmei's voice was full of panic. She didn't know what to do. There must not be any harm to her master's health.
"You didn't even notice she had a fever?" Murong Shuo's tone was full of reproach, and he looked at Chunmei sharply. Aren't they always together? These days, they should be inseparable.
And that man... Thinking of that man, a hint of coldness flashed in his eyes and he glanced to the side.
He held the woman in his arms tighter, as if afraid that she would disappear again. Thinking of how many hardships and dangers he had gone through in order to find her, he finally found this place.
"I didn't know, the master suddenly had a fever, Your Majesty..." Chunmei's eyes were red with anxiety. She reached out to help but didn't dare. After all, she was facing the emperor, and the master was pregnant, so there could not be any mistakes.
"Your Majesty, the master was fine just now." She spoke again anxiously.
Finally, Murong Shuo held the woman tightly in his arms and ordered the guards waiting beside him, "Come here."
"Your Majesty." Several guards came forward and saluted upon hearing the voice.
"Go and call the imperial physician. Shouldn't he be with him at all times? Also, arrest all the people here." Murong Shuo's voice was filled with unquestionable majesty.
"Yes." The guards responded and left.
Chunmei looked at the emperor's back and called out anxiously: "Your Majesty, the master..."
However, Murong Shuo ignored her.
Chunmei paced anxiously, suddenly thinking of Doctor Li. With her master in this state and the imperial physician away, perhaps Doctor Li could take a look first. She looked in Doctor Li's direction, only to see him being held by guards, his mouth covered, still struggling.
Thinking of how Doctor Li had helped them these days, Chunmei chased after him without hesitation and pleaded with the emperor, "Your Majesty, that's Doctor Li. He has been helping me and the master. If it weren't for him, we don't know what would have happened. The master is in this state now, can you let Doctor Li take a look first?"
Murong Shuo's eyes turned slightly cold as he glanced at the man being escorted, as if he was the Doctor Li that Chunmei mentioned.
At this moment, the imperial physician was brought over. After paying his respects, he waited for Murong Shuo's instructions.
"Follow me," Murong Shuo ordered briefly, and then he took the doctor and the woman into the carriage. Chunmei followed closely behind.
Inside the carriage, Murong Shuo asked the imperial physician to take the woman's pulse. After carefully examining her, the physician respectfully replied, "Your Majesty, Concubine Liang has a fever, possibly from a cold. The baby in her womb is safe."
"Can we leave now?" Murong Shuo asked anxiously.
The imperial doctor nodded.
The carriage door closed, and it quickly departed this troubled area. Doctor Li hadn't expected the visitor to be the Emperor, let alone the lady who was a noblewoman in the palace. He wanted to speak, but he was forced to move forward.
The group arrived at a quiet inn. The lights were on, but no one was there. After entering the inn, they went straight to their room.
Murong Shuo gently placed the woman on the bed, caressed her cheek tenderly, and gave her a light kiss. Then he let go and urged the imperial physician to wake her up as soon as possible.
The imperial physician responded and began to prescribe medicine, thinking of various ways to treat the disease.
Murong Shuo turned and left the room.
Chunmei was brought up and made to kneel outside, and Doctor Li was also taken away. Murong Shuo looked at Chunmei coldly.
Chunmei felt the emperor's gaze and kowtowed involuntarily: "Your Majesty."
"You have followed Concubine Liang all the way until now. From the incident in the garden until now, you have been with her." Murong Shuo's voice was calm and majestic.
Chunmei replied in a trembling voice, "Yes. I have been following my master." She knew that the emperor wanted to know everything, so she told him everything that had happened.
Starting from the garden, she talked about how she and her master woke up, how they discovered someone had set the fire, how they tried to escape but were caught, how they had a hard time along the way, how her master pretended to be sick, how they finally escaped, how they met Doctor Li during the escape, who Doctor Li was, how he helped them... and how they wrote a letter back to the town, and the various experiences of the master...
Murong Shuo listened quietly, and his doubts gradually cleared up. He knew everything he had not known before, and also understood the identity and background of that man - Doctor Li.
After listening to Chunmei's story, his expression became much better.
Chunmei also saw why the emperor was angry. She thought for a moment, then mustered up the courage to speak: "Your Majesty, every word this servant said is true. My master suffered a lot along the way. She wanted to vomit many times but still insisted on going. She almost went into premature birth several times." As she spoke, she kowtowed again. "It was Doctor Li who helped us escape. If it weren't for him, we don't know what would have happened."
Murong Shuo could imagine all the hardships and difficulties they had endured. He took a deep breath and said, "I understand." His tone revealed a hint of helplessness, but more of a sense of relief. He would not dwell on it or get angry anymore.
He then called someone over to inquire about Doctor Li's condition and frowned when he learned that Doctor Li had been struggling to speak.
"Treat him well first and talk about it tomorrow." Murong Shuo ordered briefly.
The night was already deep, and weariness washed over him like a tide, reminding him that it was time to rest. He gently waved his hand, signaling the attendants to withdraw. He had only one thought in his mind, and that was to return to the palace and to that woman.
Chunmei kowtowed respectfully and then slowly retreated.
Murong Shuo turned and walked into the inner room, climbing onto the bed with ease. He held the sleeping woman in his arms, gazing at her tenderly. His lips gently pressed against her forehead, feeling the lost warmth he had regained, and an indescribable feeling of emotion welled up in his heart.
During these days, he felt like he had lost his soul, searching for her every day. The sudden fire had wiped her out of his world, and he almost thought he would never see her again. If it weren't for the letter she left behind, he might have collapsed long ago.
Now, she was finally back in his arms. This joy and peace of mind made him unable to help but hug her tightly, as if he wanted to rub her into his body.
He lowered his head, buried his face in her neck, and took a deep breath, which was her scent. He kissed her forehead and cheeks, each action full of tenderness and cherishment.
Finally, he felt an unprecedented sense of peace of mind. She was really back and would never leave him again.
However, he had never truly rested in peace these days. Whenever he closed his eyes, her image would appear in his mind; whenever he opened his eyes, he would immediately think of her again. The feeling of worrying about gains and losses almost suffocated him.
Now that she was finally back, he truly realized how much he was afraid of losing her.
In her sleep, Zhang Tianai felt a warm breath surrounding her. It was the breath of a man, which made her feel extremely safe. She seemed to be melted by this breath, and her whole body was immersed in this warmth.
However, when she woke up again, she found herself in an unfamiliar environment. A slight tremor spread beneath her, and she slowly opened her eyes, meeting a pair of deep, emotional eyes. They were Murong Shuo's eyes, eyes she had gazed into countless times before, but now filled with an emotion she had never seen before.
"Awake?" Murong Shuo's voice was low and hoarse.
Zhang Tianai felt a little confused. She tried hard to recall everything, but her mind was blank. "Who are you?" she asked dazedly, a hint of doubt and uneasiness in her voice.
Murong Shuo's face darkened instantly upon hearing this. He couldn't believe his ears. She didn't even recognize him? He stared at her intently. "Who am I?" His voice was filled with authority and anger.
Zhang Tianai was still confused. She moved, trying to sit up, but Murong Shuo held her tightly, preventing her from moving. "Who are you? Why am I here?" she asked again, a hint of fear in her voice.
Murong Shuo took a deep breath and tried to calm himself. "Liang Fei, don't you recognize me?" he asked in a deep voice.
Zhang Tianai looked at him, her eyes full of confusion and bewilderment. "Liang Fei? I am Liang Fei?" she muttered to herself, as if trying to recall something.
Murong Shuo looked at her like this, and a strong sense of frustration surged in his heart. He couldn't believe that she really didn't recognize him. He shook her again, trying to wake her up, "What's wrong with you?"
However, Zhang Tianai just held her head and groaned in pain. "My head feels dizzy and hurts..."
Murong Shuo saw this and knew something was wrong. He immediately called out to the attendants and the imperial physician. The carriage stopped, and the imperial physician, Chunmei, and others hurried over.
"Your Majesty." The imperial physician bowed respectfully.
Murong Shuo looked at the imperial physician anxiously, wanting to explain the woman in his arms, but his words were incoherent. "She...she's awake, but she doesn't recognize me..." He finally managed to utter these words with difficulty.
Upon hearing this, the imperial physician's face showed surprise. "Your Majesty, what did you say?" He wondered if he had misheard.
Murong Shuo repeated it again, then looked at the doctor anxiously. "Can you please take a look at her?" There was a hint of pleading in his voice.
The imperial physician stepped forward and carefully examined Zhang Tianai's condition. Chunmei stood there blankly, her eyes filled with shock and disbelief, "Master... Master doesn't recognize the emperor?
