Princess Promotion

Chapter 7 Escape from Death

At this time, someone came to report that General Park had woken up.

Even though he knew there was little hope, Li Yinhan still sent everyone around him away and rushed over.

General Park looked at the lifeless Li Yinhan and said without beating around the bush, "The princess didn't die in the city, but escaped during the chaos. Before she left, she said she would run towards Xizhou."

Thinking back to that last day, Her Royal Highness sat at the table, picked up her bowl and chopsticks to scoop up the almost invisible rice grains in the bowl, put down her chopsticks and drank two sips directly, saying: "Now we have reached the final stage, the rice is exhausted."

Ever since Xue Qing sent the letter, Yao Chuguang and General Park had calculated how many days it would take Li Yinhan to rush to Mingzhou to dispatch troops.

The most optimistic scenario is that the army might arrive by noon tomorrow.

Yao Chuguang sighed deeply: "We may not be able to wait for the final reinforcements."

General Park opened his mouth to say something, but he knew that those encouraging words were just self-deception.

Yao Chuguang finished the last mouthful of rice soup, his face darkened, and he threw the bowl to the ground fiercely: "Let's fight them!"

Yao Chuguang: "Go tell everyone that tonight we will fight the barbarians to the death. Once the battle begins, I will set myself on fire and die with the city. Also, prepare a dozen cloaks and fast horses. Don't hide from the eyes and ears."

Yao Chuguang's decision seemed a bit nonsensical at first glance, but after thinking about it carefully, General Park looked at Yao Chuguang in shock.

There must be spies in the city now. He said he wanted to fight to the death while preparing fast horses. It was immediately clear that the princess was planning to take advantage of the chaos to escape from the city on horseback.

The barbarians' target from the beginning to the end was the princess, so they naturally would not let Yao Chuguang escape easily. They would definitely dispatch troops to chase and intercept her.

Once the enemy troops are dispersed, the pressure on General Park's side will be much less, and he may be able to hold out until dawn when reinforcements arrive and get through this difficult time.

This plan might be able to save most people. The princess took everyone into consideration, except herself.

Yao Chuguang: "Finally, whether General Park has seen my body or not, please tell my brother that I am still alive and have escaped to Xizhou."

Yao Chuguang didn't say the rest. General Park also knew that the princess who was used as bait to lure away the enemy had a lower chance of survival than him.

General Park watched Li Yinhan happily turn around and leave. After the door closed, General Park could no longer hold back the tears in his eyes.

It’s okay like this, it’s better to have hope than no hope.

After coming out of General Park's room, Li Yinhan looked sad. He found a skeleton with the princess's jewelry. He collected the skeleton and carried the coffin back to the imperial capital.

But because of excessive grief, he didn't even have the strength to ride a horse and could only take a carriage.

At night, a group of people rushed from Yicheng to Xizhou under the cover of darkness.

It was nightfall one day ago.

Faster...faster...faster!

Yao Chuguang gritted his teeth, took deep breaths, and endured the pain of his almost exhausted heart.

He held on to the reins tightly, ignoring the chafing on his hands, and tried hard to maintain his balance.

Listening to the sound of horses' hooves getting closer, Yao Chuguang couldn't help but curse. Damn it, did these barbarians install a GPS system on her? Do they all have dog noses? They ran so far and still chased after her.

When Yao Chuguang deduced that the barbarian's real target was Hecheng and that she was just a bait, she knew that there was definitely a traitor around her.

With such a big plan, if Yao Chuguang was delayed by something, or changed the route instead of taking the planned one, he would not have encountered the collapse of the mountain road a few days earlier or later and had to take a detour through Yicheng. All the plans would have been wasted.

This is why he had already escaped from Yicheng and fell into the hands of bandits again. It is estimated that the bandits are from the same group.

Time is short and there are no clues. The most fatal thing is that we have no idea how many undercover agents there are.

Rather than running away with guards whose background is unknown to him, it is definitely safer to escape alone.

In a situation where the enemy is in the dark and we are in the light, it is basically impossible for Yao Chuguang, who is so small, to escape quietly. The reason why he did not directly let General Park's personal guards replace his own guards.

Firstly, this would alert the enemy. No matter how perfect the excuse is, suddenly replacing all the guards would alert the traitor. In order to prevent Yao Chuguang from escaping, he would definitely send a message to the barbarians to launch the attack in advance.

Secondly, the masterminds behind the scenes are so powerful that they can place people around the princess of the palace, so placing a few people around a border general should be easy.

Yao Chuguang thought about it and decided that escaping early was too risky, and she couldn't afford to exchange the lives of an entire city for her own life.

As long as she stayed in Yicheng for one more day, the barbarians outside would not waste their efforts to attack Yicheng.

Otherwise, how could Yao Chuguang be used as bait to catch the big fish of Hecheng Lijiajun? They just wanted to wait and see who could not help but move first.

If no big fish is caught in the end, then you can hold Yao Chuguang as bait and ask the emperor of Da Qi for a large ransom, which is not a loss in any way.

After much deliberation, Yao Chuguang decided that it would be better to take advantage of their situation and stay as they wished.

Cut off all the escape routes, pretend to be in a life-and-death partnership, and lull the traitors in the dark into lowering their guard.

On the last night, General Park and Yao Chuguang both knew that Yicheng had run out of ammunition and food. Rather than being trapped and starving to the point of being powerless like lambs to be slaughtered, it would be better for them to rush out and take a big bite, taking a few people with them to avoid such a loss.

Before General Park set off, Yao Chuguang gathered the maids around him and handed each of them a handwritten letter. "You have been by my side since childhood. I alone am willing to sacrifice my life for the city. This is my will. If you are lucky enough to escape and return this letter to the palace, my mother will reward you handsomely. It will be a great honor for us to be master and servant. After this farewell, life and death are determined by fate, and wealth and honor are in the hands of God."

Then she waited for the general to come and set the palace on fire. She took advantage of the fire to change her appearance, put on the clothes of a maid, and disguised herself as a maid, and rode away on horseback in the chaos.

Yao Chuguang was thrown out without paying attention. After a dizzying moment, Yao Chuguang felt as if all the bones in his body were broken into pieces.

Fortunately, the horse did not step on her when she fell. Although it was painful, she felt it and was glad that no bones were broken.

It is said that people always burst into amazing power when their lives are at stake. Yao Chuguang rolled a few times, got up and continued running.

Obviously, he couldn't outrun the other person even on horseback, let alone running on two legs.

Yao Chuguang didn't dare to look back, but the sound of horse hooves and whips was getting closer and closer to her ears. She even heard the metallic sound of the scimitar coming out of the knife.

Yao Chuguang couldn't help but look back, but he only had time to see a flash of white light, which was the sharp and dazzling halo reflected from the blade under the sunlight.

Is this the end?

A sound of something cutting through the air, accompanied by a cold wind, flashed past Yao Chuguang's eyes, followed by the sound of weapons colliding in his ears.

The scimitar was launched out by the sudden force, and the barbarian was almost thrown off the horse by the inertia.

Only then did Yao Chuguang see clearly that it was a black feather arrow!

She survived!
