The Legend of Cinderella's Counterattack

The voice on the communicator exploded in my ears like a thunderclap. I jerked my head up and looked at my brother. His expression had become unusually serious. "Who are you?" he demanded sharply into the communicator, a barely perceptible tremor in his voice.

"Haha, you don't need to know who I am. You just need to know that I have everything under control." The voice was full of teasing and mockery, "Including your lives."

Before my brother could react, a busy tone came from the communicator, obviously the other party had cut off the connection. My brother's face turned pale, he slammed the communicator to the ground and roared, "Damn it!"

"What's wrong? What happened?" I asked anxiously, an ominous premonition coming over me.

My brother took a deep breath, trying to calm himself. "Dark Night is more cunning than we thought. They've already discovered our whereabouts." He pointed to an inconspicuous red dot on the map. "The signal disappears here. I suspect..."

"What place is that?" Lawrence Lu asked, his brows furrowed and his eyes solemn.

"If I'm not mistaken, there should be a secret laboratory there." My brother's tone was low and serious.

Following the map's instructions, we made our way towards the small red dot. Along the way, we encountered numerous obstacles and traps, but we overcame them one by one. Finally, we arrived at a massive building hidden deep in the mountains. The building was pitch black, with no windows, only a heavy steel door, giving it a cold and oppressive feeling.

"This is it." My brother pointed at the steel gate and said in a serious tone.

Lawrence Lu took a step forward and pushed the door hard, but it didn't budge. "It seems we need to find another way."

Just then, I noticed an inconspicuous button next to the door, with a faint red light flashing on it. "Maybe we can try this." I pointed to the button and said.

My brother walked over, examined the button carefully, and nodded. "Try it, but be careful."

I took a deep breath, stretched out my finger, and gently pressed the button. The door slowly opened, revealing a deep corridor before us. The air was filled with the pungent smell of chemicals. Lu Yuxuan walked in first, followed by my brother and me. The walls on both sides of the corridor were covered with various instruments and display screens, flashing a dazzling array of lights.

"This looks like..." I glanced around, lowering my voice, "a place where some kind of illegal experiment is being conducted."

"That's right." My brother nodded solemnly. "Dark Night has been trying to use time travel technology to achieve their ulterior motives, and this laboratory is likely their core base."

"We must stop them!" A glimmer of determination flashed in Lawrence Lu's eyes, "We must not let them succeed!"

We groped our way forward and finally arrived at a huge metal door. There was an electronic lock on the door, and a red button next to it. "Looks like this is their core area," my brother said, pointing to the metal door. "We have to find a way to get in."

Without a word, Lawrence Lu pulled out a dagger from his waist, pried open the electronic lock's casing, and began to study the circuitry inside. I nervously observed my surroundings, hoping against hope that anyone would suddenly appear.

“Okay.” Lawrence Lu raised his head, a layer of fine beads of sweat oozing out of his forehead, “We can go in.”

He reached out and pressed the red button. The metal door slowly opened, revealing a massive laboratory. In the center of the lab stood a massive machine, connected to countless cables and pipes, gleaming with dazzling light.

"This is their time travel device!" My brother pointed at the machine, his tone filled with shock and anger. "They've actually researched it to this level!"

"Destroy it!" Lu Yuxuan said without hesitation, "We can't let them use it to do evil again!"

As soon as he finished speaking, the alarm in the laboratory suddenly sounded, and the shrill sound echoed throughout the space.

"Oh no! We've been discovered!" I exclaimed.

"Hurry! Get started!" My brother made a quick decision and rushed towards the machine first.

We engaged in a fierce battle with the suddenly appearing guards. Lu Yuxuan was agile, his dagger swift as lightning, each swing taking out a foe. My brother, using the lab's various instruments and equipment, skillfully set traps, manipulating the enemy with ease. I, on the other hand, provided cover, using the tranquilizer gun I carried to shoot down any who tried to approach.

After a hard fight, we finally eliminated all the guards and successfully arrived in front of the machine. Lu Yuxuan took out the bomb he carried with him and began to install it in the key parts of the machine.

"Let's go! This place is about to explode!" After the installation was completed, Lu Yuxuan pulled my brother and me, turned around and ran out.

We had barely escaped the lab when a deafening explosion erupted behind us. The entire lab was instantly engulfed in flames, and thick smoke billowed into the sky. The shockwave knocked us to the ground. My vision went black, and my ears were ringing. When I managed to pull myself to my feet, I found myself covered in wounds, my clothes ripped to shreds.

"Brother! Lu Yuxuan!" I struggled to call out their names, my voice trembling with fear.

"Lolo, I'm here!" Lu Yuxuan's voice came from not far away. I looked in the direction of the voice and saw him half-kneeling on the ground, covering his chest with one hand, his face pale, and there was blood at the corner of his mouth.

"You're hurt!" I stumbled to him and supported his shaky body.

"I'm fine, I just injured my internal organs." Lawrence Lu forced a smile, "Where's your brother?"

Then I remembered my brother and quickly turned around to look for him, but there was no sign of him.

"Brother! Where are you!" I shouted anxiously, with tears in my voice.

“Stop shouting, he’s already…” Lawrence Lu’s voice suddenly became low, and a trace of unconcealable grief flashed in his eyes.

"What has he done? Say something!" I grabbed his arm and shook it hard, with an ominous premonition in my heart.

Just then, a cold voice came from behind us: "Do you think you can escape like this? You are so naive!"

I turned around suddenly and saw a man in a black robe and a hood standing not far behind us. In his hand, he held a sphere that shone with a strange light.

"Who are you?" I asked warily, my heart filled with fear and anger.

"I am the leader of 'Dark Night,'" the man slowly took off his hood, revealing a pale yet handsome face. A cruel smile curved the corners of his mouth. "I am also your Terminator!"

"What do you want to do?" Lawrence Lu struggled to stand up, protecting me behind him, his eyes filled with flames of anger.

"I will make you pay for what you have done!" The sphere in the man's hand glowed brightly, and a powerful energy wave came towards us.

"No!" I exclaimed and closed my eyes in despair.

"Lolo, don't be afraid!" I felt my brother's body blocking me, and he used his last bit of strength to push me away.

"Brother!" I cried heart-wrenchingly, tears blurring my eyes.

"Hahaha! You all go to hell together!" The man laughed wildly, and the ball in his hand burst out with dazzling light.

I felt like my soul was being torn apart. Everything was white in front of my eyes, and I couldn't see anything clearly. Only the scene of my brother trying his best to push me away kept playing in my mind. When I regained consciousness, I found myself lying on a soft bed. The room was very quiet, with only the sound of birds singing outside the window and Lawrence Lu's gentle breathing.

"Are you awake?" He sat by the bed. Seeing me wake up, a hint of surprise flashed in his eyes, but it was quickly replaced by worry. "How do you feel? Are you feeling unwell?"

I shook my head and struggled to sit up, but he gently held me down. "Don't move. You're seriously injured. You need to rest."

I didn't say anything, just stared at him, my mind in a mess. Brother... Brother, he really...

“I know what you want to ask,” Lawrence Lu seemed to see through my thoughts and said in a sad tone, “He has… we haven’t been able to…”

"No! This isn't true!" I grabbed his hand, digging my nails into his flesh. "Brother promised to protect me forever! He won't leave me alone!"

“Lolo, calm down!” Lawrence Lu held my hand in his hand, trying to calm me down. “Your brother saved us…”

"It's all my fault! If it weren't for me, my brother wouldn't have died!" I burst into tears, tears rolling down my cheeks like pearls from a broken string. "I killed him!"

“This is not your fault, Luoluo,” Lawrence Lu held me tightly in his arms, his voice low and firm, “Your brother is trying to protect his beloved sister, he wouldn’t want you to blame yourself like this.”

I buried my head in his chest, letting the tears flow freely. I knew I couldn't blame anyone else for my brother's death, but I still couldn't forgive myself. If I hadn't traveled to this world, if I hadn't met Lawrence Lu, if we hadn't gone to that damn lab, my brother wouldn't have died!

“Lolo, you have to cheer up,” Lawrence Lu held my face in his hands, his eyes gentle but firm, “Your brother’s sacrifice cannot be in vain. We must continue to fulfill his last wish and completely destroy the ‘Dark Night’ to avenge this world and him!”

His words were like a bolt of lightning, suddenly splitting the haze in my heart. Yes, I can't just give up like this, I still have to avenge my brother!

"What's wrong?" I felt an ominous premonition in my heart.
