The call connected. It was Butler Wang. "Butler, it's me! Lawrence Lu..." I stammered, barely able to form a complete sentence. "Ms. Lin, please don't be impatient. Take your time." Butler Wang's steady voice calmed me down a bit. I took a deep breath and told him what had happened as calmly as possible.

"I understand, Miss Lin, please calm down and don't act rashly. I have sent people to investigate and I believe there will be news soon." Butler Wang's words gave me a glimmer of hope. I held the phone tightly, as if I had grabbed a life-saving straw.

Time passed by, and I became more and more anxious. Just then, Butler Wang called: "Ms. Lin, we found out that Mr. Lu is being held in an abandoned warehouse near the dock. I've sent someone over!"

"I want to go too!" I said without hesitation.

"But……"

"No buts, I must go!" I said firmly, leaving no room for doubt.

Butler Wang couldn't persuade me, so he had to agree. I immediately changed my clothes, rushed out of the villa, and drove straight to the pier.

Along the way, the scene of Lawrence Lu being kidnapped kept appearing in my mind, and my heart ached like a knife. I kept praying, praying that he was safe.

The pungent smell of gasoline and the salty sea breeze assaulted my nostrils. Fighting the churning in my stomach, I followed Butler Wang and the bodyguards, sneaking silently into the abandoned warehouse under cover of darkness. Inside, under the dim light, several burly men stood guard, bored and oblivious to the approaching danger.

A gunshot rang out, breaking the silence of the warehouse. I saw the bodyguards brought by Lawrence Lu take the lead and cleanly eliminate the guards at the door.

The warehouse erupted in chaos, with shouting and fighting surging. I hid behind a container, my heart pounding in my throat.

"Ms. Lin, please stay here and don't move. I'll go find Mr. Lu!" Butler Wang whispered, then rushed into the melee.

"Lu Yuxuan!" I shouted his name loudly, trying to get his attention.

When Lawrence Lu heard my voice, he raised his head abruptly, and when he saw me appear here, his eyes were full of shock and worry.

"Lolo! Why are you here? Go away! It's dangerous here!" he shouted at the top of his lungs.

I ran to him and tried desperately to untie the ropes that tied him up, but the ropes were too tight and I couldn't untie them at all.

“Don’t waste your energy, this rope is specially made.” Lawrence Lu said with a wry smile, “Just go quickly, they won’t hurt you.”

"I won't leave! I want to stay with you!" I said firmly.

Just then, a black shadow suddenly pounced on me. I couldn't dodge in time and was knocked to the ground by him.

"Lolo!" Lawrence Lu's eyes were bloodshot, and he struggled desperately to break free from the restraints, but to no avail.

I struggled to stand up, but felt a sharp pain coming from my ankle. I looked down and found that my ankle was sprained.

"Damn it!" I cursed inwardly. Now I have become a burden to Lawrence Lu, and I will only distract him. My vision blurred for a while, and when I regained consciousness, I found myself lying in a warm embrace.

"Lolo, how are you? Are you hurt anywhere?" Lu Yuxuan's anxious voice sounded in my ears, his tone full of worry and self-blame.

I tried hard to open my eyes and saw Lawrence Lu’s face close at hand. The bloodshot and tired look in his eyes made my heart tighten.

I clutched his clothes tightly, feeling the warmth and strength coming from his body, and an unprecedented sense of security surrounded me.

I saw that Butler Wang and the bodyguards were still fighting with those people. The scene was in chaos. The sounds of gunfire, shouting, and fighting were intertwined and deafening.

"Let's go!" I said to Lu Yuxuan. I knew that if we didn't leave here, we would be in danger.

Lawrence Lu nodded and rushed out of the warehouse holding me.

Outside, a black car had been waiting for a long time, and Butler Wang opened the door for us.

"Mr. Lu, Miss Lin, get in the car quickly!" Butler Wang said anxiously.

Lawrence Lu held me in his arms and got into the car, then said to the driver, “Drive, go to the hospital!”

The driver stepped on the accelerator and the car sped away from this dangerous place.

I leaned in Lawrence Lu's arms, watching the scenery outside the window constantly receding, feeling mixed emotions.

I don't know who wanted to kidnap me or why they wanted to do it.

All I know is that I was saved by Lawrence Lu again, and this time, I almost lost him forever.

I shook my head and wanted to speak, but found that my throat was so dry that I couldn't make any sound.

"Don't talk for now, I'll go get you a glass of water." Lawrence Lu stood up, gently put me on the bed, and turned around to pour water.

As I watched him busy at work, a warm feeling welled up in my heart. I had never felt his love for me so deeply, so intensely, as deeply as I did now.

After drinking a few sips of water, my throat felt much better, and I finally found my voice again: "Why am I here?"

“Do you remember what happened?” Lawrence Lu asked gently, sitting on the edge of the bed.
