The Legend of Cinderella's Counterattack
Chapter 144 Strength Revealed
I straightened up slightly from Lawrence Lu's warm embrace, but the uneasy feeling in my heart lingered. The crack, the black mist, and the creepy words were like a huge rock pressing down on my heart, making it difficult for me to breathe.
Lawrence Lu seemed to sense my uneasiness. He held my hand tightly and gave me a firm look. I understood what he meant. Now is not the time to be weak. We still have a lot to do.
"Everyone," Lawrence Lu looked around with a firm gaze, "I know everyone is worried, but please believe us, we will definitely find a solution." He paused, his tone becoming more resolute, "In order to better deal with the current crisis, we have decided to show you something. We hope to gain your understanding and support."
The representatives of the ancient families looked at each other, their eyes filled with confusion and curiosity. I took a deep breath, knowing that it was time to demonstrate our true strength.
We brought everyone to a secret training ground. This was originally where Lawrence Lu used to test new technologies, but now it has become the stage for us to showcase our "secret weapons."
"Lolo, are you ready?" Lawrence Lu asked softly, standing beside me. I nodded, putting all my anxiety and fear behind me. At this moment, my heart was filled with determination and confidence.
I closed my eyes, concentrated, and felt the powerful force from another world within me. As I thought about it, a strong wind began to blow over the training ground, and thunder rumbled.
The representatives of the ancient families stared at this incredible scene in amazement, their eyes filled with shock and disbelief. I slowly opened my eyes, a smile playing on my lips. I manipulated the wind element, rolled up the sandbags on the training ground, and then accurately struck the target.
"This..." An old man was so surprised that he was speechless. "How is this possible? Could this be the legendary..."
I ignored their exclamations and continued to demonstrate my abilities. I manipulated the water element, condensing it into a sharp ice sword in mid-air. Then, with a single swing, I split a solid rock in two.
"Incredible! This is incredible!" Chenxi shouted excitedly, "Lolo, you are so amazing!"
I smiled at her and then turned my gaze to Lawrence Lu. He gave me an approving look, then walked to the front of the crowd and began to introduce his latest scientific and technological achievements.
"We have discovered a new energy source that can provide powerful energy, enough to fight against the dark force." Lu Yuxuan pointed to a complex instrument, his tone calm and confident, "We believe that as long as we work together, we will be able to overcome all difficulties!"
His words, like a flash of lightning, illuminated the hope in everyone's hearts. I know this battle has just begun, but we are ready to meet all challenges.
I could feel the gazes from all sides, a tangled web of surprise, curiosity, suspicion, a chorus of emotions enveloping me like an invisible net. I took a deep breath, pushing these distracting thoughts aside. At this moment, I wanted only to prove myself, to prove that we had the power to protect this world.
The wind still howled above the training ground. I held out my hand, palm up, and a blazing flame materialized from nowhere, its dancing tongues emitting a breathtaking heat. The representatives of the ancient families stepped back, disbelief written all over their faces. I raised the corners of my lips, and with a thought, the flames instantly transformed into a flaming phoenix, circling and dancing in the air, leaving behind a trail of brilliant flames.
"This... this is simply a miracle!" an old man said tremblingly, with awe flashing in his turbid eyes.
"No, this is not a miracle," I said calmly, my voice clear in the wind. "This is just another kind of power, a power from the universe."
I lowered my hand, and the fire phoenix dissipated into tiny sparks in the air. Then, I cast my gaze toward a boulder not far away. It was the "test tool" Lu Yuxuan had specially prepared for me. I raised my hand, put my index and middle fingers together, and pointed in the direction of the boulder.
"Click——"
With a crisp sound, cracks appeared on the surface of the boulder, and then the entire boulder shattered into a pile of rubble.
"It's incredible!" Chenxi exclaimed. She excitedly recorded everything in front of her. I knew that she had foreseen the significance of this display. We are no longer alone and helpless. We have the power to fight against the darkness.
"Everyone," Lawrence Lu's voice sounded at the right time. He walked to my side and gently held me in his arms. "This is just the beginning. We still have more powerful power that has not yet been demonstrated."
As he spoke, he pointed to the platform in the center of the training ground, where a strange-looking instrument was placed, flashing blue light.
"This is my latest interstellar communicator. It allows us to contact civilizations on other planets and get their help," Lu Yuxuan explained, a hint of pride in his tone. "I believe we are not alone in this universe."
My eyes fell on the instrument, and a surge of hope surged in my heart. Perhaps, Lawrence Lu was right, we are not alone. In this vast universe, there are other civilizations. They may also face the same threat, and perhaps they also possess the power to fight against darkness.
The demonstration continued, and Lawrence Lu showed the representatives of the ancient family his latest weapons and equipment and energy technologies. Each one was enough to subvert their cognition and let them see the hope of defeating the darkness.
However, a shadow of gloom hung over my heart. That crack, that black mist, and those chilling words lingered in my mind, unable to be shaken off.
I know the real test has just begun...
After the presentation, Chenxi trotted over to me, flipping through her notebook. "Lolo, you're amazing! You're like a goddess of war!" she said, her face flushing with excitement. "I bet those old guys are impressed by you now!"
I chuckled and shook my head, pinching her cheeks which were a little red from excitement. "It's not as exaggerated as you say. This is the result of Yuxuan and I working together."
"This isn't something that can be achieved simply through hard work," Chenxi said mysteriously, lowering his voice. "Didn't you see the expressions on the faces of the representatives of the old families? Their eyes were as wide as copper bells! They must be thinking about how to tie you firmly to their chariots!"
I shook my head helplessly. What is Chenxi thinking about all day long?
Lawrence Lu came over and took me in his arms. He swept his eyes over everyone present with an unquestionable majesty. "Everyone, today is just a small presentation. I believe you have already gained a certain understanding of us. We have a common goal, which is to protect this world and our home. I look forward to fighting alongside you and meeting the challenges together!"
His voice was loud, firm and full of infectiousness. Everyone present was shocked by the power of his words. Even the old family representatives who had originally been skeptical nodded in agreement.
A gray-haired old man stepped forward. He leaned on a cane, but his back remained straight. His cloudy eyes sparkled with wisdom. "Mr. Lu, Ms. Lin, your performance today has truly opened my eyes. On behalf of our ancient family, I promise you our full support. You can use all our human, material, and financial resources at your disposal."
“Thank you for your support,” Lawrence Lu nodded slightly, still maintaining a polite smile on his face, “I believe that with your help, we will be able to overcome all difficulties.”
I stood beside Lawrence Lu, feeling the confidence and strength he exuded, and a warm feeling welled up in my heart. I knew that no matter what challenges we faced in the future, we would face them together and never back down.
However, at this moment, a strong sense of unease suddenly overwhelmed me. I jerked my head up and looked towards the platform in the center of the training ground. The interstellar communicator had stopped functioning at some point. The flickering blue light had turned to a glaring red, and bursts of piercing alarms echoed over the training ground.
"What's going on?" Lu Yuxuan's face darkened. He quickly walked to the platform and pressed the button on the communicator, trying to turn off the alarm.
However, everything was in vain. Instead of stopping, the alarm sounded more and more urgent, as if foreshadowing that something terrible was about to happen.
At this moment, a line of flashing red text suddenly appeared on the communicator screen:
"Are you ready for the challenge?"
"Beep, beep, beep—" The piercing alarm sounded like a sharp needle, piercing my eardrums. My heart sank with the rapid sound. The originally joyful atmosphere was instantly shattered, replaced by a suffocating tension.
"What's going on?" I heard a hint of solemnity in Lu Yuxuan's voice. He quickly walked to the interstellar communicator with a flashing red light, and his slender fingers flew quickly on the console, trying to turn off the alarm.
However, the communicator was like a demon, not responding to Lawrence Lu's operation. The red light became more and more dazzling, and the flashing red text on the screen was like a brand, deeply imprinted in my mind: "Are you ready for the challenge?"
A chill shot up from the soles of my feet to the top of my head, and I felt my palms begin to sweat slightly. This line of words was more of a warning than a challenge, a powerful threat from the unknown.
"It seems that our previous guess was correct. There is indeed a bigger conspiracy behind this." Lawrence Lu's voice pulled me back from my thoughts. He turned around, his deep eyes flashing with determination. "Lolo, are you ready? It's time for us to set off."
I took a deep breath, trying to calm my flustered emotions, and nodded firmly, "Yes, I'm ready."
Lawrence Lu took my hand, walked quickly to the control console, and typed in a complex series of commands. The next second, the entire training ground began to shake violently, and the lights above our heads flickered, as if they would go out at any moment.
"Hold on to me!" Lu Yuxuan held me tightly in his arms. I felt a powerful force wrapping around me, isolating me from the chaos around me.
After a moment, the vibrations stopped and the lights returned to normal. I looked up and found we were inside a massive interstellar spaceship. Through the porthole, I saw the vast expanse of space and countless twinkling stars.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"Go to the source of the signal." Lawrence Lu pointed to a flashing red dot on the screen. "There, the truth is hidden."
I looked at the red dot on the screen. It was a galaxy I had never seen before, full of unknowns and dangers. But I knew we had no choice but to solve this mystery in order to completely crush the enemy's conspiracy and protect everything we cherish.
The spaceship started up and flew towards the unknown galaxy, and my heart was filled with anxiety and anticipation. I didn’t know what was waiting for us, but I knew that no matter whether there were thorns or a smooth road ahead, I would fight side by side with Lu Yuxuan without fear!
