After hearing Draco's thoughts, everyone couldn't sit still.
Chapter 39 Admission to Branch 3
Ron didn't return to the box until they were almost at their station, followed by Blaise Zabini and Pansy Parkinson.
"Hermione, her station is coming up soon and she needs to change. Pansy heard about it and invited you to her compartment. It's more convenient for you girls." Ron was a thick-skinned man and didn't notice Pansy's subtle gaze at him. Hermione noticed it, but she looked back at him without showing any weakness, which made Pansy raise her eyebrows in surprise.
"Hello, Miss Hermione, I'm Pansy Parkinson." Pansy slowly gave a noble salute, "Perhaps we can go to my box and chat about topics that these boys are not interested in?"
"It's my pleasure." Although Hermione had never learned the etiquette of aristocrats, she knew the etiquette of the Muggle world. She returned the greeting neatly and the two of them left together.
By the time the boys had changed their clothes and left the platform, the two girls had already started whispering to each other. One can only say that girls' friendship is really inexplicable.
"First-year students, come here." The person who spoke was tall and strong. Draco measured him and found that he was only as tall as the man's thigh. Wow, how could he be so big after hearing several Draco names in one breath?
The man had long, tangled hair and a beard that covered most of his face, making him look rather frightening. His eyes were as bright and black as black beetles hidden beneath his hair. He was looking around, and the young wizards, seeing his intimidating height, moved hesitantly.
"He's Rubeus Hagrid, the key keeper and gamekeeper at Hogwarts. He's a half-giant," Draco said to Harry and the others. He knew that while his father was saying this, Harry was busy helping his godfather deal with slugs in the potions room.
A sound like thunder interrupted them, and a large black shadow fell over their heads. Hagrid moved to their side without them knowing when.
"Harry? Are you Harry? Without your glasses you don't look much like James, but more like Lily." Hagrid stared at Harry and the scar on his head eagerly. The sentimental half-giant was about to cry. "I held you in my arms when you were little."
"Maybe we have been stopped here for a while. You are the guide who will take us to Hogwarts, right?" Hermione pushed her glasses calmly, pulled away the somewhat bewildered Harry, and tried to raise her head to look at the emotional guide.
"Oh yes! Yes! I forgot, if I am late, Professor McGonagall will turn me into a map." Hagrid walked to the front of the team in a panic and told the little wizards in a rough voice to follow him.
They arrived at the water's edge and, as Hagrid had instructed, the four of them shared a boat. Hermione, Ron, Braithwaite, and Pansy sat together. Neville had originally wanted to sit with Draco and Harry, but his hesitation prompted a young girl, who thought he was alone, to kindly invite him in. Amidst everyone's teasing, he boarded the girl's boat. Draco and Harry were thus lucky enough to share a boat.
The Black Lake was bottomless, but its surface was calm and peaceful. The night sky was reflected on the lake, and all the young wizards could not help but stare in amazement. Draco curiously reached out and moved his hand to move the stars on the lake. Harry sighed and took his hand back to wipe it with a handkerchief. Ignoring Draco's protests, he put his hand in his arms. "Be careful not to freeze."
"I'm not that fragile." Draco muttered softly, and then the two looked at each other and laughed again. "Harry, I'm a little nervous."
"It's okay, Xiaolong is so smart, he will definitely pass the exam." Harry comforted him. In his heart, Xiaolong was really amazing, loved learning, and nothing could stop him. "If Xiaolong can't pass the entrance exam, then I'd better give up as soon as possible." Harry pretended to be disappointed.
"How can that be? Harry is also very good!" Draco retorted quickly, "Harry rides a broom well, can do potions quickly, and is a lightning mage with powerful attacks. I'm just a light support." Draco knew everything about Harry. He hated to see Harry look so lost.
"Well, don't be nervous, little dragon. I'll protect you!" Harry took out the lightning staff from his clothes. Draco realized that this man didn't look lost at all. He just pretended to relieve his tension.
He snorted softly, his ears turning a beautiful pink. Harry's eyes lingered on it for a moment, and to prevent someone from getting angry, he changed the subject. "Look, Hogwarts is almost here."
Amidst a sky full of stars, the majestic and magnificent castle stands on the top of the mountains, simple and quiet, full of stories, waiting for others to discover.
After getting off the boat, they stumbled along the winding path and soon arrived in front of an imposing gate. A witch in a dark green robe was standing in front of the gate with a solemn expression.
"Professor McGonagall, I've brought the first-year students." Hagrid scratched his hair and said with a silly smile.
"Thanks a lot, Hagrid. I'll take over from now on."
She slowly pushed open the door. The curious little wizards suppressed their excitement and carefully looked around the place where they would be staying for many years to come.
Professor McGonagall led the young wizards to an empty room. Although the new students were confused, they all stayed where they were and waited for Professor McGonagall's next words, whispering to each other.
"Welcome to Hogwarts!" Professor McGonagall's voice reached everyone's ears clearly, as if it had a magical power that made people unconsciously quiet down.
"The opening banquet is about to begin, but before you go to the restaurant to take your seats, I will introduce you to everyone..." Professor McGonagall gently waved the wand in her hand, and a brilliant light appeared in the air, and four huge badges appeared in the air.
They represent the four houses of Hogwarts: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin, and change with the language of Professor McGonagall.
The young wizards were shocked by Professor McGonagall's move, and they all exclaimed with admiration in their eyes.
Professor McGonagall carefully explained to the young wizards, "The Sorting Ceremony is of great significance. I hope that no matter which house you are sorted into, you will bring honor to that house."
"Soon, the House Sorting Ceremony will be held in front of the entire school. I suggest that you all take good care of yourself and maintain a positive mental attitude while waiting."
Her eyes casually swept over Harry and Draco in the crowd, finally settling on Draco. Is this the child Albus was talking about? The Malfoy child?
She withdrew her gaze before being discovered, "I'll come over when it's ready..." Professor McGonagall was interrupted by a scream.
"Riff!" Neville struggled to squeeze through the crowd, carefully picking up the toad from the ground and timidly glancing at Professor McGonagall. Feeling a bit like crying, he said he'd forgotten something in the carriage. Draco and the others also remembered, and Hermione felt a little embarrassed. She had wanted to help, but...
"...I will come to pick you up. Please keep quiet while you wait." Professor McGonagall didn't say much. She calmly passed over the episode and left the room.
Suddenly, many ghosts suddenly jumped out from the wall behind them, scaring many freshmen.
These ghosts, all pearly white and slightly transparent, glided across the room with ghostly swiftness, seemingly debating something important.
Draco quickly cast a Confusion Charm. He didn't know whether these ghosts were their entrance test or not, but he just hoped not to attract their attention for the time being.
His powerful strength instantly attracted many young wizards, who looked at Draco with shining eyes and admiration.
Anyway, no one... no ghost noticed the newborn. One by one, the ghosts leisurely passed through the opposite wall and disappeared.
"The sorting ceremony is about to begin." Professor McGonagall came back at some point.
"Now, please line up in a column and follow me closely in an orderly manner." Professor McGonagall said to the first-year students with an expressionless face, her tone serious and unquestionable.
They walked slowly across the hall, taking cautious steps as if afraid to awaken some dormant secret.
Then they came to a pair of double doors. There was a faint sound coming from behind the door. When they pushed the door open, everyone's eyes were attracted by the scene in front of them. Their mouths opened wide and could hardly close.
Students from other classes in the college had already gathered around four long tables, each of them staring at the freshmen who had just arrived with excitement and anticipation on their faces.
Looking out, countless candles drifting in the air twinkled like stars, illuminating the entire restaurant with a faint yet warm glow. These candles seemed to have a life of their own, swaying gently, as if performing a silent dance, creating a dreamlike experience.
The four long tables were filled with glittering gold plates and exquisite high-heeled wine glasses, which emitted a charming brilliance under the candlelight.
There is a long table on a slightly higher platform at the top of the restaurant, which is a seat specially prepared for teachers.
On this special occasion, every detail seemed exceptionally solemn and dignified. Sitting in the center, Headmaster Dumbledore, with his white hair and kind face, exuded a sense of both intimacy and majesty. Meanwhile, Professor Snape, standing beside him, captivated everyone with his stern expression and penetrating eyes.
When Draco and Harry entered the dining hall, they immediately felt the gazes of the faculty. Headmaster Dumbledore smiled and nodded at them from a distance, as if conveying his trust and encouragement. Professor Snape, though his expression remained impassive, also nodded slightly in approval.
Professor McGonagall was in charge of guiding the first-year students toward the podium. With steady steps, she led these innocent children, lining them up in a neat row facing the entire senior class. The first-year students' faces were filled with curiosity and nervousness. They might not have quite grasped the significance of this assembly, but they could sense the solemnity of the surroundings.
Professor McGonagall placed a high stool in front of the little wizard, and then placed a worn, patched, and extremely dirty pointed wizard hat on the stool.
The hat looks very old, having experienced countless wear and use, but it still exudes a mysterious and ancient air.
Draco examined the hat with a critical eye, a hint of disdain flashing in his eyes. He noticed that some of the senior students around him covered their ears skillfully, and he couldn't help but feel an ominous premonition.
These seniors seemed to have a special understanding of this hat, and their reactions made Draco realize that something unexpected might happen next.
