Chapter 3 Where to be transported

There is no luxury inside the stone gate. There are two stone rooms, a stone pavilion and a platform in front of the pavilion.

There are stone benches and stone tables in the stone pavilion. The platform is about two meters square and has carved patterns all around. The two stone chambers are connected together. The stone tablets on the stone chambers are engraved with ancient characters. One is Yuchenju and the other is Lianshi.

Walking into Yuchenju, there was only a stone bed in the middle of the ten-square-meter stone room, and a jade skull was sitting cross-legged on the bed.

Shi Chen walked to the jade skull out of curiosity, and suddenly a golden light flashed from the jade skull and shot towards Shi Chen's head.

He had no time to dodge, so he could only subconsciously raise his hand to block it, but the golden light passed through his palm and pierced into Shi Chen's head. His eyes went dark, and Shi Chen fell directly in front of the stone bed.

An unknown amount of time had passed before Shi Chen sat up in the dark stone chamber, covering his head.

After half an hour of drowsiness, Shi Chen's aching head began to recover and he was able to think.

Thinking back to what just happened, it was like a nightmare and Shi Chen broke out in a cold sweat.

The legendary possession of another's body actually happened to him. Fortunately, his mental fortitude was strong enough, otherwise...

The person who wants to take over someone else's body is called Yu Chenzi, a cultivator who was exiled from the Five Elements Sect thousands of years ago.

His cultivation had reached the perfection of the Nascent Soul Realm, but unfortunately he made a grave mistake and was exiled from the sect for three thousand years. However, after the exile period ended, he did not receive any pardon or invitation from the sect.

Another thousand years passed, and on the planet without spiritual energy, his cultivation had dropped to the middle stage of foundation building.

During this period, he studied the sect's "Basics of a Hundred Arts" to pass the time.

In the last hundred years of his life, he devoted himself to studying the formation and finally set up the teleportation formation. Yu Chenzi did not dare to leave the exile place. He had committed a serious mistake in the past and was exiled here. Without the sect's pardon, as long as he left the exile place, he would be hunted down by the three sects and five schools, and in the end he would die and there would be no chance for reincarnation.

He stole the Five Elements Secret Book from the Five Elements Sect, won the heart of the Holy Maiden of the Xiaoyao Sect, and became their Taoist partner, fathering a son. Unfortunately, his plan was exposed, and he was wanted by both the Xiaoyao Sect and the Shenzhou Sect.

Because the Holy Maiden of Xiaoyao Sect had already arranged a marriage with the Young Master of Shenzhou Sect.

This was the offense that had inflicted public outrage, and he was ultimately exiled to Earth by his father, the sect leader, to escape unharmed. Yu Chenzi's Taoist partner and son were executed by the Xiaoyao Sect in front of all the immortal sects in the world.

Yu Chenzi's memories are fragmentary and span a long period of time.

The matter was exposed, and he fled for fifteen consecutive years, from major sects, immortal gates and immortal cities, to major markets, and finally hiding in the mortal world, but it was no use, he was found out.

The long period of self-sealing in exile, studying the basics of a hundred arts, and the last scene was rushing towards Shi Chen in front of him.

Shi Chen spent several hours trying to recall the past before he was able to sort out some clues.

Among the messy memories, I sorted out some relatively complete memories. Most of these memories were about the time I spent as a Taoist companion with the Holy Maiden of the Xiaoyao Sect.

This is the cave where Yu Chenzi was exiled. In the last hundred years, he focused on studying the teleportation array. He spared no effort to use all his spiritual materials and objects to build a teleportation array that could take him back to the world of cultivation. However, he did not dare to go back. He had sworn an oath that he would never return to the world of cultivation without the sect master's pardon. If he broke the oath, his Taoist heart would be destroyed and he would not even have the chance of reincarnation.

Shi Chen didn't know whether Yu Chenzi, who failed to take over another body, had a chance to reincarnate. He stood up, walked to Yu Chenzi's corpse, and took off the storage ring from his hand. Inside the ring were the Five Elements Secret Book of the Five Elements Sect, as well as some miscellaneous notes, such as the Basics of a Hundred Arts, the Basics of Spells, the Theory of Aura in the Cultivation World, Miscellaneous Talks on the Spirit World, as well as Yu Chenzi's experience in cultivation and notes on the intensive study of a hundred arts.

Spirit stones, elixirs, spiritual ores, spiritual materials, etc. have all been consumed by Yu Chenzi. Even if he had some, Shi Chen could not open the space ring.

One has to cultivate to the late stage of Qi Refining and possess spiritual consciousness before one can erase the spiritual imprint of the space ring.

Yu Chenzi still remembers the last letter he left on the stone table in the stone pavilion outside.

There is a jade book on the stone table. The front side uses tiny ancient characters to describe his life, his longing for his wife and children, and his guilt towards his father; the back side contains the instructions for using the teleportation array and the method of controlling the array in front of the cave.

Shi Chen picked up the jade book and looked at both sides. It was indeed the front side that described Yu Chenzi's life, and the back side was the operation of the formation. He took out the paper and pen he brought with him, sat on the stone bench, and translated all the ancient characters on the jade book into modern Chinese. After the translation was completed, he looked at his watch and saw that it was already past seven in the morning. It was time to go back and report to the archaeological team.

Looking at the patterned platform beside the stone pavilion, although there were some memories of Yu Chenzi, the memories of Yu Chenzi's cultivation, practice and research of various arts were not passed on to Shi Chen.

Integrated into Shi Chen's memory, Yu Chenzi's memory scenes were like a silent movie. Shi Chen watched it from a third-person perspective, knowing the beginning, process, and result, but not the principle behind it.

The patterns on the platform are disordered, yet seem to have a pattern. However, when you try to find the pattern's pattern, it suddenly becomes messy again.

After studying the patterned platform for more than ten minutes, Shi Chen still couldn't get the point. He reached out and touched the stone carvings. The lines looked rough, but they felt so smooth, as if they had been polished.

Unconsciously, Shi Chen followed the lines and climbed to the center of the platform.

The pattern platform began to operate, and the stone carvings gradually became brighter, with every pattern and every line flashing with light.

By the time Shi Chen discovered it, the teleportation array had already been activated to the final stage. With some of Yu Chenzi's memories, he knew that after the teleportation array was activated, the people in the array could not leave, otherwise they would be killed if the array reversed over time.

Seeing that about one-tenth of the lines in the formation had not yet lit up, Shi Chen spread out the paper he had just translated and wrote: Take good care of my family.

Shi Chen threw the paper ball and pen out from the teleportation array. The entire teleportation array was just activated. A flash of light appeared, leaving only a dim stone chamber and silence.

A water-based pen and a piece of paper lay beside the stone pavilion.

Shi Chen was discovered by a member of the expedition team yesterday. After he entered the stone gate opposite the platform, he immediately reported to the team. The whole team was busy in the cave all night. Some people were specifically keeping an eye on the stone gate opposite the platform, some were trying to decipher the ancient text, and some expedition members were trying to crack the maze. Unfortunately, none of them succeeded. It is quite difficult to crack a maze by luck.

Three days later, except for the stalkers, the main team members returned to the snow mountain camp and held a group meeting in the conference tent.

The meeting finally decided to search through all of Shi Chen's belongings, whether personal or distributed, and put all the items related to him on the conference table.

Clothes, backpacks, towels, water cups, shoes and socks, quilts, notes, etc.

"Today is our fifth day of archaeological work. Professor Pan from Team One translated two ancient characters, "三三," and the archaeological team rewarded him with 60,000 yuan. What luck! If I had reported these two characters the day before yesterday, would the 60,000 yuan have been mine? Forget it, I'll wait until I finish translating all the ancient characters and then report them all. The reward could be quite substantial then."

"Today is the sixth day. The first sentence has been translated, it's the number 339. Unfortunately, the ancient characters at the end seem to have some connection with the previous ones, but it's hard to say for sure. I'll have to study and compare them further."

"It's the seventh day. I don't know how much longer I have to study here. I've entered the maze platform three times, but I haven't been able to crack it yet. It seems I still need to decipher the ancient characters before I can crack the maze. I hope the deciphering progress can be faster."

"Day 8. Yesterday I tried three more times, but I still couldn't solve the maze. The good news is that I've made some progress in translating the ancient characters. While no one else has made any new breakthroughs, I've already finished translating the second sentence: Seven Seven One."

On the ninth day, some team members were already getting impatient, perhaps because there had been no real progress. This afternoon, I translated a third sentence: "In the full moon." Today is a full moon, so I wonder if a full moon is needed to clear the maze. I'll give it a try tonight. If that doesn't work, I'll report the translation tomorrow morning. I hope to receive a good reward.

With the translation of the first three sentences of the ancient text in Shi Chen's notes, the team began a new round of maze solving, and all members were actively solving the maze.

If one tries enough times, one will eventually find the right route. However, by the time he found the right route, it was already half a year after Shi Chen was teleported away.

Shi Chen was teleported away, as if it had been a lifetime, yet also as if it had only been a moment.

When he regained consciousness, he found himself on a deserted stone platform. Weeds surrounded the 30-meter-high platform, broken stone steps, scattered stone pillars, messy rubble, and collapsed buildings on the distant mountain peaks, all of which spoke of the former glory of this place.

Next to it stood another steep peak, as if it had been slashed flat by a sword. The cliffs were steep on all sides, making it difficult for ordinary people to climb, but the top was flat as if slashed flat by a sword. The smooth peak was estimated to be 700 to 800 meters from the cliff base, and at the bottom of the cliff lay a hundred-meter-long mountain peak.

This is actually the Five Elements Sect.

Shi Chen compared Yu Chenzi's memory and found that he was standing on the Five Elements Sect's teleportation array. Opposite the teleportation array was the Five Elements Sect's main hall. The flattened mountain next to it was Lingfeng, where the sect master lived.

In such a situation, the Five Elements Sect that Yu Chenzi was waiting for has disappeared, and the amnesty order he was waiting for, even if it existed, could not be delivered to Earth.

After searching for a long time, Shi Chen was unable to start the teleportation array, and it seemed that he could not go back.

Looking at the sky, it was probably around two o'clock in the afternoon. Comparing it with the mechanical watch on my wrist, the time was not much different.

Now we need to leave this place immediately and go out of the Five Elements Sect to find out the situation.

According to Yu Chenzi's memory, the Five Elements Sect covers an area of twenty miles in radius, with the sect hall as the center. The area within a radius of fifty thousand miles is the territory of the Five Elements Sect. The territory of the Five Elements Sect includes fairy cities, markets, and mortal kingdoms.

The nearest immortal city to the Five Elements Sect is more than 1,500 miles away, the nearest market town is 50 miles away, and the nearest mortal town is 100 miles away.

Looking into Yu Chenzi's memory, there is a mortal village between the sect and the nearest market town. The village is located on the bank of the Li River. The villagers make a living by fishing. They can only walk to the fishing village before dark. Let's go to the fishing village first to see the situation.

The road from the teleportation array to the mountain gate is paved with stone slabs, a distance of ten miles. From the mountain gate to the fishing village is about fifteen miles, a total of twenty-five miles. To reach the fishing village before dark, you need to walk five miles every hour.

The wilds of the cultivation world are very dangerous, especially at night. There are monsters and demons, and any mortal who encounters them will surely die.
