Xie Wei felt like he'd been struck by lightning, finally understanding the real reason Er Ya wanted to break up. "Gu Jinhe is a madman, I agree... to break up." He managed to utter the words "break up," his eyes reddening.

Hearing the words "break up" was incredibly painful for Er Ya. Her eyes reddened as she looked at Xie Wei and apologized, "I'm sorry." He needed to forgive her selfishness. Even Xiao Yue had almost been framed and imprisoned; if it were her, she wouldn't have been a match for Gu Jinhe. Compared to her own life, what did love matter?

Xie Wei was suffering from severe angina, but he pretended to be nonchalant, saying, "I'm sorry to you, I'm sorry to the boss."

"Let's never see each other again." Er Ya turned and ran away, afraid that if she walked too slowly, she would burst into tears in front of the man.

Xie Wei stood there, watching her departing figure, then slowly bent down and squatted on the ground. Even so, he could not alleviate the pain in his heart.

A series of footsteps approached, and a pair of feet came into view.

Xie Wei slowly raised his head to meet Zhang Ran's gaze. "I'm sorry, boss, I've caused you to be wrongly accused."

Zhang Ran noticed his expression was off. "Should I take you to the hospital?"

Xie Wei shook his head gently, "It's nothing." After recovering, he stood up and looked at Zhang Ran, who was already sitting on the sofa drinking tea. He walked up to her and asked, "Boss, will you fire me?"

Zhang Ran put down her teacup, looked at him, and asked, "Why should I fire you?"

Xie Wei: "...You've already been wronged once. If I continue to be your bodyguard, who knows what other methods he'll use to deal with you." As he spoke, he lowered his head in shame, as if he were the one who had done wrong.

Zhang Ran stared at his forehead for a while, then suddenly laughed.

Xie Wei looked up abruptly, and seeing her smiling face, he felt a chill run down his spine. Sure enough, the next second, Zhang Ran spoke: "Starting tomorrow, you will be my boyfriend."

With a thud, Xie Wei, a tall man over six feet, knelt on the ground. "Please, please, please don't joke around. You're understandably resentful and hate me because of me. You can hit or scold me as you please, but don't retaliate against me this way." He was terrified!

"If you know it's your fault, then make it up to me." Zhang Ran stared into his eyes, her tone leaving no room for argument: "Be my boyfriend."

Xie Wei collapsed to the ground, utterly despondent, saying, "Whatever makes you happy." His inner world was awash with tears.

Seeing his expression of utter despair, Zhang Ran snorted irritably, "I won't want any man my sister has been with. Since Gu Jinhe misunderstands that I'm your girlfriend, let him continue to misunderstand. I want to see who plays whom to death first."

So that's the reason! Xie Wei immediately breathed a sigh of relief, his spirits lifted, and he stood up straight, no longer feeling dejected.

"Go and find out where Gu Jinhe is."

At Zhang Ran's command, Xie Wei immediately went out to carry out the task.

After finishing her tea, Zhang Ran left the study.

Yang Tao immediately came over to show her concern, "I just saw Er Ya leave crying. Did you two have a fight?" After all, the two of them had been talking alone in the study for a long time, but Er Ya left crying.

Yang Tao quickly gave Lin Jing an apologetic smile, grabbed Zhang Ran's arm, pulled her into the study, and closed the door before asking, "Isn't Er Ya's boyfriend Xie Wei? How could you possibly like him?" If she did, she wouldn't have waited until now to try and steal him away. "You're joking, right?"
