Chapter 79 What's going on
It took He nearly a year to investigate this matter, and although he found some clues, they were not the key.
"God damn it! I should have asked that guy earlier."
Teya suddenly remembered that Adilhaid was involved in the black market, and perhaps he could get some secrets from him. However, Adilhaid had already left, so where could he find his whereabouts?
"Forget it, Teya, the truth will eventually come out."
Although He was so relieved, he knew that this matter concerned Teya's best friend, and his worries were hard to dispel. Teya sighed, glanced to the right, and his eyes lit up.
By the way, that palace has not been visited yet. Could there be some secret hidden in it?
"Sister He, I have something to do. Please come with me."
Although He was surprised, seeing that Teya looked serious, he thought that he must have realized something, so he followed him and left.
The two of them crossed the valley and arrived at the gates of Paradise. It was now deserted, with everyone having moved to the island city of Fuxi. Even though it had only been a few days, the place was already deserted and desolate. The wind blew dust and dust, giving it a feeling of being on a frontier.
"Teya, what's going on?"
"Sister He, look over there."
Teya pointed to the palace on the mountainside and said, "Ever since I got involved in this, I've been curious about this place. Let's go and take a look. Perhaps we can find some clues."
When they reached the foot of the mountain, they discovered there was no path to climb, suggesting they needed a secret path to reach the mountain. Crane leaped lightly and headed straight for the palace, with Teya following closely behind.
As the palace got closer, Teya fell into deep thought. Besides Adil Haider and the others, was there someone else manipulating the overall situation?
Approaching the building, the two stopped on the second-floor balcony. The door was tightly shut. Teya tugged, and it swung open, just as it had at the shop owner's door. Inside, the house was dim, and Teya realized the windows were covered by curtains. Pulling them aside, sunlight poured in, revealing the interior layout.
It wasn't as luxurious as she'd imagined; Thea even thought it wasn't as beautiful as the corridors of the arena, but it had everything she needed, as if no one had ever touched it. Adilheid didn't seem to have set foot here before leaving the island, and Thea hadn't noticed it at the time.
This place has indeed been neglected, I hope something can be gained.
A blanket search began. Teya and He didn't split up, searching each room carefully. The house had three floors, the first floor resembling a living room. Fortunately, there weren't many rooms on the floor, and no hidden doors were visible. They quickly searched the second floor.
Only the top floor remained. If nothing was found, they would return home. Thea and the other two had been at sea for a long time and needed to return to Marine Headquarters before their graduation exams to avoid delaying Tina and Smoker. If Vice Admiral Tsuru hadn't informed Sora that Thea had taken Tina and the others on a training expedition, Thea would have been punished, possibly even suspended for reflection.
Lieutenant General He has been very kind to me. If there is any trouble on the way back, I will step forward to help.
With this in mind, I walked towards the stairs to the third floor.
"There are only a few rooms on the third floor. Find them on your own. I don't feel comfortable here."
Perhaps it was because the space was wide and had been dark for a long time, He felt as if a stone was weighing on his heart. Most people probably felt the same way.
"Well, I'll go to the room on the left."
The two of them split up and began searching. All the doors were unlocked, and Teya entered with a lantern.
The first room was spacious, with a few sofas in the center and two screens mounted on the wall, resembling televisions, but with one frame missing, a rather odd feature. Since there were no windows, Teya speculated that it might be a projection room, and the screens might be used for video phone calls.
Looking around, there was nothing else except the sofa and the screen, so Teya turned to another room.
He pushed the door open, only to find it was damaged and creaking, its panels tilted and making noises as they scraped against the floor. This room looked like a study, with many books scattered about. Teya felt hopeful that he might find a clue there.
The curtains were drawn, and Teya set the oil lamp aside. He flipped through the books on the shelf, found nothing unusual, and turned to the table by the window.
Rummaging through a drawer, Thea found a folder and notes. Opening the folder, he discovered plans for the island's management, including plans for the arena and the park. Despite the crucial information, Adilheid had likely abandoned it and either left it with him or destroyed it. This confirmed Adilheid's claims and that he hadn't deceived Thea, as the document contained even more details.
Only notes were left. After opening it, Teya found that the front page looked like the contents of a diary.
"I never thought that something so close to me would be lost. I don't know what the consequences will be..."
"For my plan, I must succeed, but why is Betty becoming increasingly depressed?"
"Cooperating with pirates is unavoidable. I hate them, but the strong men selected for the arena were taken away by them. I don't know why."
"...The recent collaborator is extremely dangerous...possibly XXX."
The collaborator is dangerous... Could it be Kaido?
Teya couldn't fathom what this description meant. The note was written by just one person, making it difficult for others to understand. However, Teya noticed one detail: the date mentioned in the note was a year ago.
Although he didn't know what it specifically referred to, Teya clearly remembered one thing - the matter of the Surgery Fruit.
