Chapter 162: Nothing More Than a Show of Power

This move is aimed at reforming the naval system and is nothing more than a warning to signal that the navy must ultimately submit to the jurisdiction of the World Government and must not expand its influence without authorization.

Moreover, the intentions behind choosing this moment to act are obvious. The navy's power is growing, especially under the Air Commander's command. Restricting the Air Commander now and appointing new personnel for the other high-ranking positions is, in essence, a check and balance.

The imperial court sent an envoy to announce the imperial decree, recommending General Zhan Guo to be promoted to the rank of naval marshal on behalf of Kong, so that he could resign from the post of general. This was Kong's suggestion.

This leaves Zefa alone as Grand General, but he still maintains his current position, so a new Grand General must be appointed. The proposed candidates are: Teya, Sakaski, Borsalino, and Kuzan.

The rank of Grand General was limited to three, so Kuzan was no longer a candidate. However, unexpectedly, Teya publicly rejected the order of the Five Elders and declined the position of Grand General.

Everything else could be discussed, but this one was irreversible. Teya said bluntly, "Everything else is negotiable, but assuming the position of Grand General is absolutely impossible."

The Five Elders seemed to have foreseen this and instead of being angry or blaming, they expressed approval of Teya, though the truth was unknown. However, this experience taught Teya the extent of the World Government's power.

They were uneasy about the navy's strength, and they saw the rampant pirates as a threat. They themselves committed many shady acts, which could only be described as despicable. After Teya rejected the Admiral, the new Admirals were codenamed "Akainu" Sakaski, "Kizaru" Borsalino, and "Aokiji" Kuzan.

At the awarding ceremony, Teya, standing in the crowd, wondered what title he would be given if he were to become a general.

White Eagle? Never mind, I'm not destined to be a great general in this life. A free and easy life like Garp is more suitable for me.

After all, there was still much to be done, and the position of Grand General was actually a hindrance. For this reason, Thea entrusted Tina and Smoker to keep an eye on rumors and anecdotes while on duty, and report any important events to him.

To prevent missing key events, he decided to write his own story. While pirates still thrived in this world, the world had changed dramatically due to numerous events. He no longer sought to rely on "predictive experience."

"Hey, are you in a daze?"

Teya was awakened by Kuzan's sudden push, and came back to his senses from his thoughts. He rubbed his eyes with a smile, and said frankly that he was a little tired, so he said goodbye first.

After leaving Ku-chan, Teya walked towards his office, his mind racing. Tina had recently sent word that he was in Alabasta. Rumors circulated that the capital was bustling with activity, as if celebrating the birth of a princess.

The princess of Alabasta was Vivi. Although this was not particularly important, Teia recorded it in her notes to mark important dates for reference.

"It's time to go out for a walk."

The Navy's top brass had been completely reorganized, with Flying Squirrel and his colleagues being promoted to vice admiral. This had diminished Tyaden's presence in the Navy, but it was a welcome change for him.

Some things don't need to be overly publicized; instead, taking advantage of opportunities can accomplish more. From the Frevans incident to CP0's previous provocations, Teja has resolved to break with convention and begin intervening in certain historical changes. Only in this way can he achieve the results he desires.

Some things could have had a better ending. If you were involved in them, could you change it?

Teja was convinced that it could be done. Both O'Hara and Sakaski were showing another side in the transformation. This was the possibility he saw.

Arriving at the Marshal's office, Teya's hand on the door handle suddenly stopped. With a soft sigh, he knocked on the door.

"Please come in."

Zhan Guo was sitting at the table, his face solemn, examining the files in his hands. He looked up at Teya, then lowered his head again, busy and blissful.

"What's the matter?"

"Any missions? I want to go out to sea."

Teya stated his purpose directly, but Zhan Guo only raised his eyes slightly, took a quick glance, put down his glasses, and put down the file.

"Teya, you refused the appointment as General. Although the Five Elders have no objections, this is indeed a breach of etiquette. Do not transgress this rule again."

Teya was about to speak, but stopped when Zhan Guo waved his hand: "From now on, we just need to straighten out the relationship between superiors and subordinates. I happen to have a task for you, so go and do it."

"What mission?"

"Go to the East Sea to find Garp and bring him back. I can't contact him anymore."

Teya wanted to punch Zhan Guo at this moment, but he resisted the urge and replied with a simple "Hmm" before turning and leaving. As he was one step away from the door, he suddenly turned back and said, "Marshal Zhan Guo, your solemn expression is truly unpleasant."

boom--

A glass of water was thrown to Teya, who caught it lightly, put it on the ground, waved goodbye, quickly closed the door and left.

Zhan Guo was both angry and amused at the same time, shaking his head and monologue: "This kid Teya is really hard to dislike..."

Zhan Guo was seen holding a file with the words "Don Quixote Family Investigation Report" written on it.

Although it was only two pages long, he flipped through it for a long time before finally lighting it and throwing it into the brazier beside him. Zhan Guo looked at the burning flames, lost in thought...

......

Holy Land.

The two of the Five Elders walked side by side through the wide corridor and stopped in front of the balcony. Admiring the view, the long-bearded elder said, "I never thought this sailor named Teya would dare to disobey our orders, but they are not orders."

"Oh?" the old man, his hat brim drooping, responded with interest. "I want to use the title of Grand Admiral to curb his arrogance, but Sora's point is that he is completely loyal to the Navy."

"You don't have to believe everything Sora says, but you have to. Well, if he can accomplish something as great as Garp did, it would be a deterrent. After all, he has shown potential."

"I hope so..."

The two of them were silent, just admiring the scenery, and then left quietly.

......

"You want to go out to sea?"

Zefa was hanging up the freshly washed clothes in the courtyard, looking at Teya with a hint of suspicion in his words.
