Chapter 101 Human Nature Has Good and Evil
Teya thought to himself that if he were in such a situation, he would make the same choice as Smoker. Even if others did not understand, if he did not stand up, he would probably regret his choice for the rest of his life.
This was what Thea truly admired about Smoker. Over the course of two months, Smoker had effectively trained those soldiers who had previously feigned obedience to him. Deeply pleased with the results, Thea reported this to Marshal Kong as a satisfactory response. However, Thea did not mention Smoker's previous actions, the reason for his temporary disobedience. He considered it a thing of the past, a mere moment in Smoker's life.
"Smoker, how do you feel now?" asked Thea.
Smoker replied, "I feel quite refreshed, a sense of accomplishment, but..." He frowned slightly mid-sentence, "It seems like something is missing."
Teya looked at Smoker and couldn't help but laugh. Clearly, Smoker still needed time to comprehend the world, but he now understood the difficulty of commanding an army, so he had a word of warning for him.
"Smoker, you are still young, and I believe you have already understood what I said before. A man on the sea should never regret his actions."
Smoker pondered for a moment, nodded, then calmed down and ordered everyone to disperse.
As soon as Tyar left, Smoker followed.
"Master Teya, I have fully understood the skills you taught me in the past. Could you please teach me the method of domineering power?" Smoker said anxiously.
This remark startled Thea, but he came up with another plan. After all, the Kankan Fruit, which Tina needed, was undoubtedly in his possession. However, there was still no trace of Smoker's Smoke Fruit. Thea even considered finding a random Nature Fruit as a substitute and having Smoker consume it. However, dreams must always be kept alive. What if one day they could finally come true?
However, when Smoker proposed to practice Haki, although Teya was unwilling to refuse his wish, he believed that among the six styles, the two skills of Shaving and Moon Step were enough to deal with it. As for the secret of the seastone weapon, Teya had not had time to study it yet, so he put it aside for the time being and talk about it later.
Teya stared at Smoker and responded solemnly: "Want to cultivate domineering aura?"
Smoker nodded, his eyes filled with excitement.
"Okay, young man, I'll see you at the seaside at dawn tomorrow."
"As ordered!"
It seems that it is time to let Smoker endure more severe training to see if he can persevere. Perhaps by then he can even learn the skills of the iron block.
On the way back, Teya couldn't help but laugh when thinking about this, and at the same time he was full of anticipation for Smoker's performance tomorrow.
-
At dawn, a light morning mist filled the surroundings of the naval base.
The sky was still hazy, and only one person could be seen in the fog, walking quickly towards the outside of the naval base.
Smoker tightened his collar and quickened his pace.
He went to bed early last night and had a good sleep. Perhaps because he was worried about today's training, Smoker didn't look tired at all when he woke up in the morning. Instead, his face was full of excitement.
Perhaps, everyone who desires to become stronger is looking forward to the arrival of this day.
Walking towards the clearing on the seashore, Smoker pondered as he walked.
Now, in addition to some combat skills that he has explored on his own, what he relies on most is the attack method that combines shaving and moon step.
It was certainly more than enough to deal with ordinary low-bounty pirates, but whenever Smoker recalled the scene of his first encounter with Pirate King Roger, he always felt a sense of powerlessness. Although he admired Roger, but now as a navy, he would never allow pirates to act recklessly.
Especially those pirates who do all kinds of evil, just like the Wine Pirates that he had seen with Teacher Teya. They looked like pirates on the surface, but were praised by Teya as adventurers.
When he first saw Thea chatting and laughing with the pirates and letting them go, Smoker was quite confused. In his previous understanding, pirates were pirates and the navy's mission was to capture pirates.
However, when he officially became a member of the navy and experienced various personnel changes, he realized that what Teya said was true.
This world is not as beautiful as one might imagine, but it is definitely not as bad as one might imagine. Whether it is pirates, navy, or civilians, they all live on the same sea. Human nature has good and evil, and this is true for pirates as well as navy.
Thus, Smoker's understanding of justice quietly changed.
However, one thing remains unchanged, and that is the determination to become stronger and become a person like Teya, so that perhaps one can learn more of the truth.
This is also the reason why he gave up the path of pirates and chose to become a navy. His experience determined his choice.
As his thoughts gradually came to an end, Smoker found himself near the seashore. The morning mist was still shrouded, but the sound of waves lapping against the shore was clearly audible.
After walking for a while, a figure appeared in front of them. Smoker ran forward and saw that it was Thea who had been waiting there for a long time.
"Teacher Teya."
"Well, I just arrived. It seems that you are really determined to become stronger." Looking at Smoker with a determined face, Thea couldn't help but think of his cold appearance in the future, and a smile appeared on the corner of his mouth.
This was nothing new to Thea. He'd noticed this trait in Smoker throughout his training. Even back at the Naval Academy, despite his reserved demeanor, he'd still come to Tina's aid in crucial moments, punishing evil and promoting good.
Now it seems that Smoker is hiding himself. Ever since he disobeyed orders and suffered misunderstanding, he has chosen to reduce his interactions with others in order to protect himself.
Only when facing Thea will Smoker gradually return to his true self.
Because he knew very well that Teya understood him, that's why he told him the whole story.
The path he chose was the one he had come up with through his experience following Teja, and he believed it was the right path.
"It takes time to acquire domineering power. Master Zefa has told you this before, right?" asked Teya.
