I, the poor monk Tang San, buried the sky, buried the earth, buried all living beings

If Tang Ku's words just now were an insult to them, then this sentence was a blatant accusation that they went against the Buddha's original intention.

"Tang Sanzang, what you said sounds like slander!"

Vajra Fist Bodhisattva snorted coldly and said, "When we achieve enlightenment, no matter what level we reach, we already have the goal of saving all living beings and guiding them towards goodness. Why not become their teacher first?"

"Being a teacher first doesn't give you a reason to be so high and mighty, to look down upon all living beings as worthless, or as monsters filled with evil thoughts!"

Tang Ku said solemnly, "The Buddha said that all beings are equal! All beings, no matter what kind of creature you are, no matter what level you have reached, you are all within the sentient beings. Buddha and ants, immortals and straw dogs, all are within the sentient beings. Whether it is you or me, whether it is the cultivators present or the immortals who have already ascended to the immortal path, or every blade of grass, every tree, every flower and every leaf on this mountain, all are within the sentient beings..."

Tang Ku paused and said in a deep voice, "Although there are foolish and stubborn people in the world, there are also good people with good intentions who will never do evil in their lives. How can we treat them differently just because they haven't achieved the right result? It is said that all living beings suffer, and all sentient beings have sins. The Buddha said that he would save all living beings. Is it only the foolish and stubborn people you mentioned that are saved? Do those who do good deserve to suffer? All living beings have Buddha nature. Are you the only ones who can become Buddhas and Bodhisattvas and achieve the right result? I, Tang Sanzang, was born into this world as a human being. I came to the Tang Dynasty from the West to obtain the scriptures for the purpose of saving all living beings... So what does it mean to save all living beings?"

Vajra Fist Bodhisattva clasped his hands together and said: "To save the ignorant and stubborn, to guide the evil and turn them to good, is universal salvation..."

"There are many people who do good but never achieve success, and who don't live a good life. You just don't care about that, right?"

Tang Ku curled his lips and sneered disdainfully, "Educating the ignorant and guiding people to good is certainly universal salvation, but then teaching people to read and write, teaching them a craft, teaching them to farm, teaching them the basics of life, and teaching them how to make a living—aren't these also universal salvation? Universal salvation is not just talk. Universal salvation means making the world a better place, making everyone yearn for it, making all living things thrive, and guiding values ​​in the right direction. This is what universal salvation means!!!"

Every word was so inspiring that Li Chengqian nodded repeatedly: "Yes, that's exactly what the holy monk did!"

He was completely defeated and had no chance to refute. In other words, after hearing this, Vajra Fist Bodhisattva looked puzzled for a moment, and then actually asked sincerely: "What is value orientation?"

Tang Ku smiled mysteriously and said, "This is my secret. You can ask me after this Buddhist debate is over. Now... I still have to face all the Bodhisattvas and Buddhas behind you!"

Vajra Fist Bodhisattva clasped his hands together and bowed, saying, "Very well, very well. Your Buddhist teachings are profound, but I am not as good as you... That's all... Bodhisattvas, Buddhas, this disciple is incompetent and must continue to study the Buddhist teachings to strive for further improvement. I will take my leave now!"

Having said that, he flew away without even looking back!

"This guy even came up with a term like 'values-oriented'..."

Among the immortals and Buddhas in heaven, only Benxin Guanyin could understand what Tang Ku was saying, and she could only smile bitterly and shake her head.

"Haha, Tripitaka said it well. Since we mentioned Buddhism, let's talk about it!"

"Since the Buddha's teachings appeared, they were meant to save the world. That's why you traveled thousands of miles to the West to obtain the scriptures. However, as the Vajra Fist says, there are many people in the world who are foolish and lack wisdom. If they themselves cannot read, do not listen to the teachings, and do not have good thoughts, then even the greatest power cannot save such people..."

Manjushri Bodhisattva sighed and said, "Although the Buddha once said that there is no one in the world who cannot be saved, as you walk through the world, you should also know that there are many such people. This is a fact that cannot be refuted... So, is it that we have not found the right method to save them, or is it that our Buddhist teachings are fundamentally wrong?"

This is a question, but it contains a textual trap!

Manjushri Bodhisattva used sophistry to completely deny those so-called foolish and stubborn people, saying that they were totally hopeless. Then, no matter which question he asked afterwards, it showed that there was basically no possibility of saving these people!

It’s a simple logical trap, but not many people below can understand it.

Li Chengqian frowned slightly: "This Manjusri Bodhisattva seems to be making excuses..."

"Buddhist disciples' debates on the Dharma are themselves a form of sophistry, and there is little time for genuine discussion of the Dharma!"

The old Taoist laughed and said, "Let's see how the holy monk responds!"

Tang Ku, however, did not fall for the trap at all. He suddenly asked, "May I ask the Bodhisattva, what exactly is the Dharma?"

Manjushri Bodhisattva was stunned for a moment, then shook his head and said, "You are also a disciple of Buddhism, don't you know this? The Dharma, the Dharma, is the essence of the Buddha, and it is the method to achieve Buddhahood!"

Is it Guanyin, or Maitreya Buddha, or Dipankara Buddha? Or is it my mentor Tathagata Buddha who hasn't appeared in a long time? If anyone among you can still explain what Buddhism is, I, Tang Sanzang, will abandon my cultivation and fall into the cycle of reincarnation forever!"

Everyone was silent. It was not because they could not speak, but because there were too many things to say about Buddhism. However... no one could be sure that what they knew and understood was Buddhism!

"Buddhism...is not just bullshit. Buddhism encompasses the path of all living beings. Bullshit is Buddhism, and the way of heaven is also Buddhism!"

Tang Ku said in a deep voice, "The principle of survival is Buddhism, the way to govern a country is Buddhism; a fish surviving in water is Buddhism, an eagle soaring in the sky is Buddhism, the sun rising in the east and setting in the west is Buddhism, and ants migrating at the sound of thunder is also Buddhism. It encompasses everything and saves everything. This is Buddhism... Or we can say that all of these are Buddhism, and yet they are nothing... Buddhism is just a coat we use to save the world, a tool that makes it easier for people to accept... Buddhism is not a way to become a Buddha, but a tool to save the world!"
