Chapter 484 Moving the Palace

This sleep was not a restful one. An Lingrong tossed and turned, her dreams chaotic. After an unknown amount of time, a loud noise from the yard woke her from her light slumber. She frowned and subconsciously pulled the quilt closer, trying to block out the chaotic noise, and continued to sink into sleep.

Ju Qing hurried into the hall, pulled aside the bed curtain and pushed her awake: "Your Majesty, Miss Sun is moving to another palace, and the people from the Ministry of Internal Affairs are here to help her pack her things!"

Moving the palace? !

An Lingrong suddenly woke up and sat up in bed in an instant, her mind blank. Without time to think, she quickly got out of bed, threw on a coat, and walked quickly to the door.

Several young eunuchs were seen coming in and out of the yard, carrying large and small packages and miscellaneous items in their hands.

Her heart sank suddenly, and she walked quickly into the east wing hall, but found that the hall was empty. Sun Heyin was no longer there. Only Bai Zhi was standing aside, directing the eunuchs to move things.

"Baizhi, what's going on?" An Lingrong's voice was filled with anxiety.

Bai Zhi heard the voice and quickly turned around. She lowered her head, not daring to look An Lingrong in the eye. Her tone was filled with apology, "Your Majesty, my young mistress... begged the Emperor to move to Zhongcui Palace."

"Zhongcui Palace?" An Lingrong's voice rose a few notches. "It's remote, cold, and not good for your health. How could she live there? Where is she?"

Bai Zhi's voice lowered a little: "The young lady... has already gone to Zhongcui Palace."

An Lingrong felt a tightness in her chest and was speechless. She stood there, watching the east wing hall being emptied bit by bit.

After packing up her things, Bai Zhi walked to the door and paused. She turned around and looked at An Lingrong's distraught appearance. She whispered, "Your Majesty, thank you for taking care of me these days. My young mistress... is a pitiful person. If anything happens to her in the future, please... forgive her."

After saying that, she knelt on the ground, kowtowed solemnly, then stood up and left without looking back.

An Lingrong felt an indescribable sense of loss and melancholy in her heart. She had said so much, and she thought Sun Heyin would understand her and respect her choice. However, she did not expect her to be so ruthless and draw a line between them in the most direct way, without even leaving a word of explanation or farewell.

It seems that the conflict between her and Zhen Huan is deeper than she imagined.

An Lingrong walked into the courtyard. The imperial guards at the gate stood solemnly with stern faces. Even if she wanted to ask Sun Heyin, she could not step out of the palace gate.

He had no choice but to return to the main hall and throw himself onto the bed again.

When Shen Meizhuang and Zhen Huan stepped into the palace, An Lingrong was lying on her back on the bed, her round eyes staring straight at the ceiling, her gaze empty and dull, and she didn't even notice them entering.

"Rong'er?" Shen Meizhuang called softly.

Seeing her lack of reaction, her eyes motionless, Shen Meizhuang couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. She quickly walked to the bedside, leaned over, and carefully examined An Lingrong's expression. Her voice was filled with anxiety, "Rong'er, what's wrong with you? Are you feeling unwell?"

An Lingrong suddenly jumped up and pounced on her like a frightened little animal, hugging her neck tightly, with a hint of grievance in her voice: "Sister, why did you come so late!"

Shen Meizhuang was caught off guard and was pulled by An Lingrong, falling heavily onto the bed.

"Ouch, my waist!"

Zhen Huan was startled by the sudden noise and hurried forward to pull Shen Meizhuang.

An Lingrong rolled her eyes as she was pressed down, and struggled to crawl out from under her.

Shen Meizhuang rubbed her waist and glared at her helplessly, with a bit of doting in her tone: "You scared me, girl. I'm old and can't stand your tossing and turning!"

An Lingrong stuck out her tongue, a sly smile on her face. "Who told you to come so late? I was so bored waiting that I had to find some fun on my own."

Zhen Huan couldn't help laughing when she heard this. She reached out and gently poked her forehead: "You are getting more and more naughty. It's really hard to deal with you."

An Lingrong blinked and feigned innocence, saying, "How could I be naughty? It's clearly because you guys came too late that I was left here alone with my wild thoughts, almost getting sick from boredom."

Shen Meizhuang shook her head helplessly: "Okay, okay, it's all our fault. Tell me, what happened? Why did she suddenly move to another palace?"

An Lingrong helped Shen Meizhuang lie on the bed, massaging her waist while briefly recounting their conversation today.

Zhen Huan's brows were furrowed so tightly that they could almost kill a fly. "She means... that what happened yesterday was related to me?"

An Lingrong pondered for a moment, then shook her head slightly, her tone uncertain. "She was being subtle, and I didn't quite understand. But judging from Shunpin's reaction, it seems like yesterday's incident had nothing to do with you. I don't know why she thinks that."

Shen Meizhuang interjected, "Could there be a sequel to this matter?"

Both of them fell into deep thought, and the atmosphere in the hall became a little solemn for a moment.

An Lingrong looked at Zhen Huan, then at Shen Meizhuang. After a moment's hesitation, she said, "Sister Zhen, I always feel like... she seems to have a grudge against you. Think carefully, have you ever offended anyone?"

Zhen Huan held her head and thought carefully.

A quarter of an hour later, she shook her head. "You all know the people I've offended in the palace. They were nothing more than my avowed enemies. But Sun Heyin... I really can't think of any grudge between her and me. Even though I reprimanded her during the last visit to Yongshou Palace, my words weren't harsh, and I didn't punish her for it. She wouldn't have done something like this, would she?"

An Lingrong frowned slightly upon hearing this, and then asked, "What about you back home? Have you ever had any grudges with anyone?"

Zhen Huan gave a wry smile and shook her head, "That's even more impossible. Before I entered the palace, I rarely even left the house. I spent all day at home studying and practicing calligraphy. How could I have the chance to offend anyone?"

Seeing Zhen Huan's answer, An Lingrong stopped dwelling on the issue and sighed softly, her tone filled with a hint of relief: "Then never mind, let her be!"

Shen Meizhuang tilted her head: "Rong'er, she's gone. I thought you would be very sad."

Hearing this, An Lingrong let out a faint, bitter smile. "I'm truly heartbroken. After all, I treated her sincerely, and I thought she would understand and trust me. But when I think about it, I've done my best for her. Since I have a clear conscience, let's just let fate take its course. If we're compatible, we'll be together. If we're not, we'll be apart. There's no point in forcing things."
