Traveling through the world of beasts, making a living

Chapter 25: First Defence Against the Enemy

The moon gradually lost its luster, and the sun slowly rose. After another tense and peaceful night, the orcs breathed a sigh of relief. The logistics team, led by Yun and Hongshang, methodically distributed bamboo rice and steamed buns. No one was taking it easy, knowing the decisive battle would come either today or tomorrow. They worried that there might not be a tomorrow.

Mona and her family were eating breakfast on the city wall. Everyone had different thoughts, but they all had one thing in common: worry.

"Wushuang, fly around the tribe and see if there's anything unusual!"

Wushuang transformed and flew to the outskirts of the tribe. A cup of tea later, he landed next to Mona. "Na, there's nothing unusual. Are they not coming?"

"Impossible, maybe they are still waiting for more orcs."

"You can fly. You should patrol every once in a while and warn the orcs outside to be careful and not act rashly."

"I know, Na!"

Long Ying and the others stood beside Mona with their hands behind their backs, giving her silent support!

"Chirp, chirp!" Two bird calls sounded, and a fiery red bird landed on the city wall. "Little female, long time no see!"

"It's you, the bird that reminded me." Mona looked surprised!

"What bird? I am a phoenix. Phoenix, you are so ignorant. I turned into this to make it easier to fly!" Chi Yan said angrily.

"Uh, Phoenix, I didn't notice, hahaha!" Mona laughed so hard that even her pregnant belly was shaking!

"Laugh, laugh, laugh your ass off! Let me show you my true form. You are so ignorant. It's really scary."

Then, Chi Yan shook his body and transformed into a flaming phoenix, flying into the sky, leaving a streak of red flame. Amidst everyone's confusion, he transformed into a human form and landed on the city wall.

That red hair, like the sunset glow, was both fiery and vibrant. Each strand seemed like a burning flame, dancing in the wind. A pair of obsidian eyes radiated a mysterious and captivating aura, especially the red teardrop mole at the corners, which further captivated her imagination. Strong chest muscles, straight, slender thighs—tsk, tsk, tsk! Mona swallowed.

Longying pulled Mona over and put her behind him, and the three beasts stepped forward together to block the coquettish scenery.

"Since you reminded us last time, we won't bother with your rudeness just now. If you have nothing to do, please leave. The tribe is busy lately." Long Ying drove the man away very decisively.

"Tsk, I'm not looking for you, I'm looking for a young female, get out of the way." As he said this, he tried to pull Long Ying. Long Ying slapped him back with his palm, and Chi Yan immediately dodged. A big battle was about to break out.

"Stop, can't you just talk it out nicely?" Mona walked up to Chi Yan and stood still.

"Little female, he bullied me!" Long Ying was so angry that he laughed, and his fists clenched tighter and tighter! The four beasts knew that a love rival had descended from the sky, but they could do nothing about it.

"What's your name? Where are you from? Where are you going? And what do you want from me?"

She asked four questions in a row, "My name is Chi Yan, I'm from the Phoenix tribe, and I came from the Northern Continent just to find you." As she spoke, she put on a bird feather skirt.

"Looking for me?"

"Yes, I guess everyone in the beast world is looking for you. Let's be frank. I know your identity. I won't harm you or your tribe, but I want to be your beast husband. Our priests say that you and I are destined to be together."

Qingli couldn't bear it anymore and punched him from the air, "Asshole, you dare to covet my baby, are you tired of living?" Chi Yan easily resolved it.

"Qingli, stop messing around. I have something to ask him." Qingli angrily put away his fist.

"You probably have something else to ask me!"

"Of course, my baby is just smart. I don't know why he falls for these brainless idiots."

"You!" Qingli raised his fist again. Longying pulled Bixi with one hand and Wushuang with the other. "Stop arguing! If you're interrupting the little one's business, get out of here."

Okay, now it's quiet. "Tell me, what's the matter?"

"Last time I heard about the Wolf Tribe's plan, I quietly followed them. They've contacted four tribes and made friends with some stray beasts. They're currently staying at the Silver Wolf Tribe's old tribe. We estimate they'll reach the outskirts of the Dalega Forest before dark. I roughly counted their number, over 500, and the Lion Tribe is the strongest."

"Five hundred? The combined total of my three tribes, including males, females, old and young, is less than five hundred. This seems like they are going to be razed to the ground." Hong Chang came to collect breakfast and heard this, and she couldn't help but worry. Heisha and Jia tacitly pulled her and comforted her.

Mona looked at everyone with a firm gaze, "Don't worry too much, we still have time to prepare."

She turned to look at Chi Yan, "Thank you for the news, but what about the destined marriage you just mentioned?"

Chi Yan smiled slightly. "This is a special ability of our Phoenix clan. We can predict some fates. You and I have a deep bond, so I came here specifically to find you."

Mona was a little confused after hearing this, but she nodded.

"No matter what, the most important thing right now is to deal with the impending crisis. Let's put our problems aside for now," Mona said. "We must unite and come up with a workable plan."

Everyone nodded in agreement.

Next, they began to discuss specific defense strategies...

"Chi Yan, can you sneak into the stray beasts and put poison in their food?"

"Little female, from what I've observed over the past few days, the stray beasts don't trust them. They hunt on their own, eating raw meat and drinking blood, so they don't have the opportunity to poison them. On the contrary, the orcs in these tribes are more particular about their food and are more likely to poison them."

"It's not a pity for stray animals to die. There should be both good and bad people in this tribe! Killing a good person by mistake is not worth the loss. If our tribe wants to grow, we still need new members to join us."

"They are all coming to attack you. None of them are good people. You can't be soft-hearted."

"The bird finally said something right. Little one, you can't be soft-hearted. New members must join willingly and not rely on luck."

"Got it, Brother Ying!"

"Then poison them. Even if the poison doesn't kill them, it will reduce their combat effectiveness." Mona took out the poison she had prepared in advance and handed it to Chi Yan.

"If you want to stay with the little one, you must succeed and not fail. You must return before sunset."

Chi Yan nodded, took the poison, turned into a bird and flew away.

"Wushuang, tell the orcs outside that the enemy will attack before dark. Be prepared. If you can't defeat them, retreat. As long as you have life, you will not be afraid of running out of firewood. Your own life is the most important!"

"The three of you will inspect the traps at the valley entrance, take a headcount, and check whether the bows and arrows are properly equipped. Also, tell the three elders that no matter what happens, they can only leave the mountain after our people arrive to provide support."

"Hongshang, prepare more food for lunch today and kill a few more Hengheng beasts so that the warriors can eat their fill and not be hungry at night. This will give them more energy to fight."

After Mona made all the arrangements, she turned to Long Ying and said, "Brother Ying, I'm worried about Chi Yan. Go there quietly. If he doesn't succeed, you can do it. I'm always feeling uneasy."

"Wushuang, take me to the top of the highest mountain to observe and see if there is any other way to deal with it."

"Don't worry, little one. Your health is the most important thing. We are here for you. Don't worry."

The four beast husbands took turns comforting her before completing the task assigned by Mona.

Mona stood on the top of the mountain, carefully observing the terrain. Finding it was exactly the same as the plan, Mona breathed a sigh of relief, her heart slightly at ease. Time passed slowly, the sun was setting, and the orcs in the tribe were also anxious.
