Chapter 207 Death Puzzle
Hermione heard Ron's cry and looked at her notes hastily.
The words "Go to the dentist today" first appeared on the originally blank page. Hermione was slightly startled, not understanding how this was related to the Chamber of Secrets.
However, in the blink of an eye, new content emerged like a spring, which was a description of the process of some magical experiments.
However, these contents seemed to be cast under a magic that accelerated their passage, and like the receding tide, they began to disappear rapidly.
Hermione was extremely anxious. Her eyes were as sharp as torches as she stared at the words on the notes. Her brain was working rapidly as she read through them at the fastest speed.
Ron watched anxiously from the side. He knew that the content was extremely important, but he didn't dare to disturb Hermione rashly.
The words on the notebook disappeared faster and faster, and Hermione dared not blink, for fear of missing even a single character.
But in the end, the words disappeared completely, leaving only some blank pages, like a silent mockery.
"No! Reveal yourself quickly!"
Hermione couldn't help but exclaimed. She waved her wand hastily and recited a magic spell quickly. The light on the top of the wand kept flickering, and finally only a meow was heard and a few wisps of white smoke came out from the tip of the wand.
The result was obvious, everything was in vain, Hermione's magic malfunctioned, so the notes had no response and remained blank.
Just as Ron and Hermione were about to try to cast magic on the notebook again, the majestic figure of Madam Pomfrey appeared in front of them. Her brows were furrowed, her eyes were full of dissatisfaction, and her eyes fell on Hermione holding the wand in one hand and the notebook in the other.
"You two! What the hell are you doing here? This is the school hospital, don't make any loud noises!"
Madam Pomfrey scolded softly. Her voice echoed in the quiet school hospital, making Ron and Hermione feel guilty. "Hermione, you are in the hospital now. Your body has not fully recovered yet. Don't use magic anymore."
"Magic is not easy to control, especially in your current state. If something goes wrong, the consequences will be disastrous. No one knows what terrible things will happen."
Hermione's face was filled with guilt. She knew that Madam Pomfrey was doing this for her own good, so she quickly put away her wand and whispered, "I'm sorry, Madam Pomfrey, we were too impulsive."
Ron also nodded and apologized. Madam Pomfrey glanced at them and gave them a few more instructions before leaving.
In the bathroom, however, the atmosphere changed. With Ginny and Neville's patient persuasion, Myrtle's crying gradually stopped.
Her transparent, water-stained head slowly passed through the door of the compartment, with fear and sadness still in her eyes, but when she looked at Ginny and Neville, there was less fear and more curiosity.
"You... do you really think you can stop that terrible guy?" Myrtle's voice trembled a little. She seemed surprised and expectant about Ginny and Neville's determination.
Ginny nodded vigorously, her eyes determined: "We will try our best, Myrtle. We have friends, everyone is brave, and we will not give up until we find the murderer who hurt you."
Neville also made an expression that said we want to help you: "That's right, Myrtle. We have found some clues, and now we just need more information. You are our hope, and your knowledge is very important to us."
Myrtle looked at Ginny and Neville with her ethereal and sad eyes. There seemed to be tears in her eyes. That look seemed to travel through time and space, carrying endless sadness.
She slowly raised a translucent hand and gently brushed her wet hair, as if she was sorting out her thoughts or trying to give herself courage. Then she slowly said, "Do you really want to know how I died? This is not a fun story. Once you know it, the horrific scene may linger in your mind forever."
As she spoke, she passed through the compartment door like a nimble fish, floating lightly around Ginny and Neville. She leaned forward slightly, tilting her head to look at the expressions of the two, and cold water vapor filled the surroundings as she floated, and the water vapor seemed to have life, entwining and dancing around her.
Ginny nodded without hesitation, looking at Myrtle firmly, and took a small step forward: "Myrtle, we must know, not only to help find the real murderer of that year, but also to prevent such things from happening again in the future."
After hearing Ginny's answer, Myrtle's eyes became a little dazed. She raised her head slightly and looked at the ceiling, as if those memories were hidden there.
Her lips trembled slightly, and she began to recount what happened that year: "At that time, as usual, I couldn't stand Olive Hornby's vicious sarcasm, saying that I was ugly and a toad wearing glasses, and Myrtle hid in the ladies' room and cried."
At this point, Myrtle curled up slightly and hugged herself with her arms, as if to protect herself. "I'm really sad. Why did she do that to me? Just as I was immersed in sadness, I heard someone come in and they were whispering. It was a boy's voice. I thought, how could he just come into the ladies' room? And he disturbed my crying."
Myrtle frowned, a trace of anger flashed in her eyes, she shook her head suddenly, and the hair that had been hanging by her cheeks flew back, "So, I angrily opened the door, trying to remind him that this is the women's bathroom and let him leave."
As she spoke, she made a motion of pulling the door hard, her arm drawing an arc in the air. "But the moment I opened the door..."
Myrtle's voice trembled, her eyes were full of fear, her body began to tremble violently, she floated back a few steps, and covered her face tightly with her hands: "I only remember seeing a pair of scary big yellow eyes, like two evil lights in the darkness. Then, my whole body seemed to be grabbed by a powerful force."
She waved her hands in the air like she was struggling. At the end, she spread her hands and said, "Then I felt myself drifting away, and my consciousness gradually became blurred. Then... I died."
Neville listened intently. He frowned, leaned forward slightly, and stared at Myrtle without blinking, wanting to know more details: "Myrtle, did you see the boy's appearance clearly? Or did you hear what he said?"
