"I have a little donkey,

I never ride,

One day, I rode it to the market on a whim.

I have a small leather whip in my hand,

I feel really proud..."

Xia Chu slowly drove Hui Hui forward. Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye, he saw Xiao An peeking out from the front of the rice field. He immediately shouted, "Xiao An! Come back!"

If this stupid dog really entered the rice field, not only would it get covered in mud, but it would also trample on the rice seedlings and get scolded.

Xiao An looked back at her, seemingly not understanding, but quickly ran back.

The rice paddies were once barren land. There were no villages nearby, and there was a small forest to the right. The tall weeds on the left looked much more lush than the rice seedlings. Xiao An plunged into the wasteland and quickly disappeared.

Xia Chu felt a surge of unease. The official road gradually became deserted. What if she encountered a bad guy? Suddenly, she felt a little uneasy. But seeing Da'an ahead, she calmed down. Wang'an Village was just a short distance away. It was a large village with a large population. And because it was closer to Lin'an, it was more prosperous than her maternal grandparents' village.

There is a tea stall between Wang'an Village and the official road, which sells some coarse tea and dry food. I have to say that this is a very good location, and many merchants passing by will stop here to rest.

At this moment, there were quite a few people sitting in the tea stall, and there were also many carriages parked. I don’t know if they were caravans or people traveling far away.

Xia Chu passed by and took a few glances inside. The people inside were also looking at her. First, there was a beautiful girl riding a donkey alone and with great arrogance. Second, there was the strange-looking hanging carrot.

She glanced around casually and continued on her way. Suddenly, she heard a whistle behind her. "Young lady, are you out playing alone? Are you thirsty? Brother will treat you to some tea."

I'll slap you twice!

Xia Chu didn't even turn his head, rolled his eyes and pretended not to hear.

Unexpectedly, she was blocked by someone. Two men who looked like servants stood in front of her, lowered their heads, not looking at her nor moving away.

"Don't be in such a hurry to leave." The frivolous voice came from behind. The man had greasy hair and powdered face and looked wretched. It was obvious that he was not a good person.

Xia Chu looked at him coldly. "What are you doing in broad daylight?" She said this while glancing behind the man. The others in the teahouse were all looking at them, but they didn't stand up. It was unclear if they were all together.

"It's just a cup of tea, don't panic, young lady." The man had a greasy smile on his face, and his eyes darted around, looking her up and down, which was disgusting.

"What if I don't want to drink?" Xia Chu had already seen Da'an running towards her. She raised her chin and acted arrogantly, "Tell your people to get out of the way, or don't blame me for being rude!"

"Hey, why are you being so rude?" The man laughed, and laughter also came from the tea stall.

"Will you give way or not?" Xia Chu asked impatiently.

"No, let me see how rude you are." He really couldn't think of how a young lady who went out alone could be rude. He smiled lewdly and stretched out his hand, "The young lady's face is so tender."

Xia Chu curved her eyes and smiled brightly, "Do you like carrots?"

Lu Wu was dazzled by her beauty and didn't hear what she said at all, but he soon understood. Xia Chu swung the stick in her hand at him, and the carrot hit his nose, making him scream in pain. At that moment, he felt as if his nose was broken, and tears welled up in his eyes.

The two servants standing in front were stunned for a moment, and one of them was hit by a carrot.

"Da'an! Bite him!" Xia Chu swung the stick in her hand, madly hitting people with carrots. Her movements were so violent that Huihui cried out in anxiety and staggered forward.

Da'an barked and lunged forward, biting Lu Wu's arm. He jerked his head back and forth, as if he was about to tear a piece of flesh off. This frightened the two servants. But they didn't dare to ignore him, and instead cowered and scolded him. The people at the table closest to the outside suddenly stood up and ran over.

Xia Chu didn't want to fight anymore and hit Hui Hui twice. Hui Hui accelerated with a loud "clang, clang, clang" and almost threw Xia Chu off. She turned around and shouted, "Da'an is gone."

Da'an immediately let go, bared his teeth, tucked his tail between his legs, whimpered at the few people, and turned around to chase Xia Chu.

"stop!"

"Catch her!"

"Don't run!"

Only a fool wouldn't run away, Xia Chu snorted, patted Huihui's neck, and let it turn into the woods. The carrot on the stick was only a small piece of string left, what a pity. I had thought of giving it to Huihui as a reward later.

After running for a while, the people behind him didn't catch up, so Xia Chu changed to another path and continued walking.

This path was built by the villagers nearby. It's a narrow path, with weeds on both sides. It's usually used by woodcutters or those visiting relatives. There's a small village not far away. After passing that, it's a short walk to my grandparents' home.

I don't know what those guys were up to, but they must be a bit crazy, teasing anyone they see on the street. I'll teach them a lesson today; Daan's teeth are no joke.

After that, the journey was smooth, and I didn't encounter any weird people. But there weren't many of them anyway, and today was just bad luck.

When he got to his grandparents' house, Xia Chu put the matter behind him. The two old people were old, so he didn't tell them about it.

"Oh, why are you here? You came alone?" When Dong's mother saw that it was her granddaughter, she patted her apron and stood up. "You came here on a donkey?"

"Yes, grandma, do you miss me?" Xia Chu gently hugged the old woman, then took her arm to show her the donkey. "I just bought this donkey. It looks good, doesn't it? It's called Huihui, and it's very well behaved."

"Well, good, pretty." Dong's mother followed her words and turned her head to look at her with narrowed eyes. "Why did you come here alone? It's such a long way."

"Of course I'm here to eat your little hen!" Xia Chu joked.

"Eat! I'll go get some right away." Dong's mother knew she was joking, but she would kill a chicken every time her granddaughter came, and this time would definitely be no exception.

"No hurry, no hurry," Xia Chu helped her sit on the stool, "It's still early, where's my grandfather?"

"He's gone for a stroll in the village. Your uncle doesn't allow us to farm anymore. He's bored all day at home, so he loves to wander around the fields and look at other people's crops." Dong's mother grumbled, "Let him look, but he's also a talker. When he sees someone doing something wrong, he'll point it out, and even if he can't convince them, he'll intervene. It's so annoying."

"How can this be called annoying? My grandfather is an old hand who has been farming all his life. Can you please tell the younger generation in the village what's wrong with them?" Xia Chu said.

"Xiaochu is still good at talking." When Dong's father heard these words as soon as he came back, he felt relieved immediately.

"I'm telling the truth." Xia Chu showed off his donkey to Dong's father again, "Grandfather, look at my donkey. What do you think? Did I choose it well?"

Dong's father then noticed a donkey standing at the gate, grunting and chewing a carrot. He walked around it and touched the donkey's leg. "Well, good, it's a good donkey."
