The cannon fodder female supporting role in the misplaced life
Chapter 166 Novice Mission 165
Xu Yingying and Lin Xiumin pushed their bicycles to the school gate.
After climbing back into the car, Lin Xiumin, in an attempt to change the subject, said to Xu Yingying, "That reading assignment from the Chinese teacher is such a waste of time. Yingying, I was telling you that when I got home last night, I thought I'd read for an hour or so before bed. In the end, I only read a little bit in the entire hour."
Hearing Lin Xiumin's words, Xu Yingying responded while pedaling her bicycle: "Since the Chinese teacher asked us to spend several months reading, he must know that these books require a certain amount of reading. If we take time to read them every day, we can finish them soon." Xu Yingying's tone was full of firmness and determination, as if she was fully prepared to complete this task.
Lin Xiumin felt a little helpless after hearing Xu Yingying's words, but she nodded in agreement. She understood that Xu Yingying's words made sense, but she always felt that she didn't have enough time and found it difficult to carve out a dedicated time for reading. However, she didn't want this to affect her relationship with Xu Yingying, so she decided to do her best to follow the teacher's instructions.
"Yingying, you are so optimistic. You are so positive in everything you say." Lin Xiumin said as she realized that she was almost at the fork in the road where she and Xu Yingying would part ways.
"Wouldn't it be better to be more positive?" Xu Yingying asked with a smile.
"That's great. Every time I hear your positive words, I feel motivated." Lin Xiumin replied helplessly.
"I have to start watching it when I go back tonight, otherwise my progress will be different from yours." Xu Yingying said seriously.
"Anyway, I saw the third episode last night, and we are almost the same. Maybe in a couple of days you will be able to see almost the same as me." Lin Xiumin replied.
"So what do you think of this book now?" Xu Yingying asked.
"It's okay, but there's a bit too much content." Lin Xiumin replied.
Lin Xiumin said as they reached a fork in the road, "Then we'll see each other next week?"
"See you next week, Xiuxiu!" Xu Yingying also waved goodbye to Lin Xiumin.
Lin Xiumin watched Xu Yingying leave and couldn't help but sigh, "Yingying is such an optimistic person!" This positive attitude always warms people's hearts. Perhaps it is because of this that they can become good friends. Thinking of this, Lin Xiumin smiled and turned to head home.
Xu Yingying sighed inwardly while riding her bicycle, feeling that she was becoming more and more like a junior high school student, and gradually adapted to the reality of getting younger in this mission world.
Xu Yingying rode her bicycle slowly back home, feeling somewhat puzzled, because usually when she got home she would see Aunt Xu busy at work, but today she didn't. Xu Yingying felt a little strange, but she returned to her room quietly.
After entering the room, Xu Yingying gently closed the door and walked to the bed to sit down. She then took out a thick book from her bag - "Dream of the Red Chamber". Xu Yingying suddenly thought that perhaps now was a perfect opportunity to verify whether the story in this book was roughly the same as what she knew in her previous life.
With a touch of anticipation and curiosity, Xu Yingying quietly sat by her bed and opened this book, one of the four great classics. Her gaze gradually focused on the pages, and as the words flowed, Xu Yingying seemed to be transported into a completely different world. Each page was filled with delicate descriptions and complex emotions, drawing Xu Yingying deeply into it.
As Xu Yingying began reading the first chapter, she couldn't help but feel a strange sensation. This chapter described a dream world! Xu Yingying couldn't help but think of the various different types of dreams she'd experienced since arriving in this mission world. Could these dreams also hold some special meaning? Or were they just coincidences?
As Xu Yingying continued to read Dream of the Red Chamber, she felt increasingly that the plot and characters were similar to those she had known in her previous life. However, as she immersed herself in the book, a strange feeling of unease washed over her. She began to wonder if this mission world was really as simple as she had imagined.
Or are there deeper mysteries and challenges hidden within that she needs to unravel one by one? Perhaps the world is far more complex than it seems, and what she sees is just the tip of the iceberg.
Or perhaps, the world is full of possibilities, and she needs to constantly explore and experiment to find the answers. Just like "Dream of the Red Chamber," you think you understand it at first glance, but the true story emerges in a moment when you're not paying attention. Perhaps, only when Xu Yingying deeply explores every detail and experiences the world with her heart can she truly understand its essence and meaning.
Just as Xu Yingying fell into deep thought over the contents of the book, Xu Xiaofeng's hurried knock on the door broke the silence.
"Yingying, are you back?" Xu Xiaofeng asked anxiously outside the door.
"Aunt, I'm back. Are you ready for dinner?" Xu Yingying asked without raising her head, her eyes still on the words in the book.
"I'm glad you're back! I'm glad you're back!" After Xu Xiaofeng finished speaking, there was no other sound.
This made Xu Yingying, who was reading in the room, suddenly confused. Xu Yingying put down the book in her hand, walked to the door and opened it, but found that there was no one outside.
This made Xu Yingying feel a little strange. She wondered why Aunt Xu had come and left so suddenly. Was there something urgent to deal with? Or was she just checking in to make sure she had arrived home safely?
Xu Yingying returned to her desk with a heavy heart, sat down, picked up the book again, and tried to continue reading. However, Xu Yingying found that she could no longer concentrate, and the knock on the door and her aunt's figure kept appearing in her mind.
Xu Yingying couldn't help but start to wonder why Aunt Xu just came back and then suddenly left?
Xu Yingying decided to wait until dinner time to ask her aunt.
However, to Xu Yingying's surprise, as time passed and night fell, Xu Xiaofeng still hadn't returned home. As the clock struck nine, an uneasy atmosphere filled the room. Xu Yingying was filled with confusion and worry, wondering where Aunt Xu had gone and whether she had encountered any trouble.
"Why hasn't Aunt Xu come back yet?" Xu Yingying muttered to herself, growing increasingly anxious. She couldn't help but stand up and walk to the window, gazing out at the quiet street, hoping for Aunt Xu to appear. But the streets were deserted, with only dim streetlights illuminating the road ahead.
