At three o'clock in the morning, Lu Yun heard some noise at the door. She opened the door a crack. It was quiet all around. There were two people standing at the door, and a faint smell of blood lingered in her nose.
Lu Yun frowned and pulled the person in. She looked at Zhou Boli carefully in the moonlight. Seeing that he looked normal, she knew that someone else was injured.
"Master Zhao?" Lu Yun's voice was very soft.
The person pressing on Zhou Boli moved and said in a hoarse voice, "Thank you, Princess and Master Zhou."
For fear of being noticed, Lu Yun did not light the lamp. After asking a few simple questions and confirming that it was just some superficial injuries, Lu Yun brought a basin of hot water and intended to clean and bandage Lord Zhao.
Zhou Boli took the basin in his hands and said, "How can I trouble the princess with such rough work?" Then he closed the door.
Lu Yun touched her nose, wrapped herself in a quilt, sat on the doorstep, and listened carefully to the movements around her.
A moment later, Zhou Boli opened the door, and the smell of blood mixed with the fragrance of medicine wafted out of the room again.
There was still an hour before the city gates opened. Lu Yun nervously watched Zhou Boli stuff his bloodstained robe into the stove. "Master Zhou, are we leaving the city tomorrow morning?"
Lu Yun saw him nod twice and said, "The county government has locked up Lord Zhao in an empty room in the backyard. Lord Zhao has suffered a lot. For his safety, he must be taken away." Zhou Boli said as he sat down next to Lu Yun.
The night was freezing cold. Lu Yun hesitated for a moment, then opened a corner of the quilt and put it on him.
A gentleman is judged by his deeds, not his heart. In the dim light, she couldn't see his expression clearly. She only saw him tear off the half of the quilt she handed to him and give it back to her.
"Princess, although you are a Taoist priest, do Taoist priests not have to pay attention to the separation between men and women?" He didn't sound very happy.
Lu Yun didn't get angry but explained seriously, "It's precisely because I'm a Taoist who values the natural way that I don't get entangled in the red tape of the world. Everything I say and do comes from my heart."
I thought this half quilt could keep you warm, so I gave it to you naturally. It's your business if you are unhappy.
Zhou Boli stood up and said, "You can sit here if you want. I'm going to sleep inside."
Lu Yun made an OK gesture to him and said, "Okay, please. God knows how long my endurance is."
As soon as the hour of Mao arrived, Lu Yun lit the candle and called out to the two people in the room. Zhou Boli was not sleeping soundly and woke up as soon as Lu Yun came in.
Lord Zhao's face was pale, and Lu Yun looked carefully but saw no bleeding. However, she was worried that the soldiers guarding the city might still remember Lord Zhao's appearance, so she expressed her concerns to Zhou Boli.
Zhou Boli took out a small porcelain bottle from his arms and began to apply it on Zhao Qingyu's face. After a while, a weak scholar with a dark face appeared in front of her?
"Get out." Zhou Boli looked at her and said in a cold voice.
The door closed in front of her again. From inside came the rustling sound of changing clothes. A hunched old man with a dark face slowly walked out, coughing every two steps.
Lu Yun curiously stepped forward and touched Lord Zhao's gray hair, but Zhou Boli slapped her hand away with a "slap" sound. "Stop dawdling and get going."
When they arrived at the city gate, they saw County Magistrate Chang, who was in casual clothes, sitting on a tea stall outside the city gate. He and several of his men kept looking at the people leaving the city.
Lord Zhao was in front, and Lu Yun and Zhou Boli were behind.
Not only did he tremble as he walked, he also coughed a few times, and he exuded the smell of an old man. It looked like he would not live for many years. Lu Yun, who was wearing a veiled hat, quickly attracted the attention of County Magistrate Chang and his entourage.
"You, lift up your veil." The soldier guarding the city had a serious expression on his face, his hand on the official sword at his waist.
"Sir, my wife's alcohol acne hasn't healed yet, and the doctor said she can't be exposed to the light." The dark-faced husband replied in a rough voice.
"Husband." The woman grabbed her husband's arm and called softly, sounding very scared.
"Stop talking nonsense. A wanted criminal was captured in the county government office last night. Otherwise, you would be in trouble." The soldier shouted in a low voice.
"No, I'll lift it up for you." The woman slowly lifted her veil, revealing a face covered in dozens of red, swollen wine pimples on her forehead, chin, and cheeks.
Soldier: "Go, go, go, go!" It's really unlucky to see such a face so early in the morning.
By this time, Lord Zhao's hunched figure had already stepped onto the official road, more than ten meters away from the two men. County Magistrate Chang withdrew his gaze from the couple leaning on each other as they departed and continued to observe the people leaving the city.
They walked all the way to the depths of Panlong Mountain before they stopped. Zhou Boli whistled, and several figures jumped out from the bushes on both sides.
"Master Zhao, you can't go back with us now." Zhou Boli said straight to the point.
"I understand. If I go back with you now, I might not live to see the capital." Zhao Qingyu's face turned pale and he coughed softly twice.
"When I was doing business, I got to know the leader of Huangfeng Village in Panlong Mountain. Although he is a bandit, he is very loyal. You can rest assured and recuperate in his village. We will send someone to pick you up when we return to the capital." Zhou Boli gave him a fist.
Zhao Qingyu nodded and was carried away by several people.
"What if he saw Mother and the others?" Lu Yun frowned. "It would be hard to explain then."
Zhou Boli looked at her, and a smile appeared on his dark face. "My lady, a cunning rabbit has three burrows. Huangfeng Village is certainly not the only place."
Lu Yun: "I didn't realize that Scarface is actually quite smart."
When the two of them returned, they still rode together. Caihe, Liuzi and others were still waiting for them in the wild woods.
Caihe was frightened when she saw Lu Yun's appearance. She was relieved after learning that it was fake. She said a few words of bad luck and went to get a basin of water to wash it off for Lu Yun. Lu Yun let her do what she wanted to her face.
After a quick lunch, the group continued on their journey.
Lu Yun slept on Caihe's legs for a while. Maybe she was really tired. When she woke up, the sky was already filled with sunset glow. Looking outside, there was no village or shop nearby. She guessed that she would have to sleep in the wilderness again tonight.
Lu Yun leaned against the car window and yawned, "Oh no." She slapped her head hard. She forgot to bring mutton hotpot for the old man. When she thought of it, Lu Yun couldn't help but want to do it.
At night, everyone found a dilapidated temple to rest. Lu Yun looked at Zhou Boli and said, "Mr. Zhou, can I ask you a question?"
Zhou Boli raised his sword-like eyebrows slightly. "Princess, please speak freely."
"Where did you buy the mutton we ate last time? I want to buy some and bring it back for the chef to try." Lu Yun's small face, as big as a palm, was full of sincerity.
Zhou Boli sneered, "My princess, you have a refined taste. I have always ignored these household affairs and left them to the housekeeper. I don't know when I will be back after this separation."
She understood, this meant that she couldn't eat it, so Lu Yun faced inward with her butt towards him.
