Gold Medal Sweetheart

Chapter 33: Unrighteous

The first thing she did when she got home was to talk to Guan Yushan about a plan. However, no matter how hard she tried to contact Guan Yushan, she couldn't find her. Her phone was always turned off. As a result, she didn't sleep well that night. The next day, she felt listless at work.

Noon, canteen.

An Qi excitedly ran over from the window with a tray in hand, "Tangtang, today we have your favorite scrambled eggs with tomatoes, you..." Before she finished speaking, she saw Tang Xin using chopsticks to pick at the rice in the plate. There were only some vegetables in the dish compartment.

"Why are you so absent-minded while eating?" He sat opposite Tang Xin.

Tang Xin didn't seem to notice An Qi's question. It was only then that her phone, playfully ringing, woke her up and she reached for it. But when she saw the familiar WeChat profile picture, she froze. She held the call, unsure of how to react, torn between answering and not answering. The call went silent.

An Qi, who was eating heartily, also stopped eating and asked in confusion, "Why didn't you answer the phone?"

"I don't know when this person was added, and I don't remember who he is," she lowered her head and pretended to eat.

But her phone rang again. The cheerful song, once a chorus, now sounded like a death sentence to her, like a ticking time bomb. To stop the unsettling ringtone, she decisively hit the reject button. She put the phone down, but within two seconds, she picked it up again and pressed the power button. Then, relieved, she set it back on the table.

"Do you know that your biggest weakness is that you are not good at lying?" An Qi analyzed.

Tang Xin looked up and asked doubtfully, "Are you really not going to lie?" Her eyes were full of expectation for An Qi's negative answer.

But An Qi's affirmative expression completely dispelled her hope. If she continued to pretend like this, she would be exposed sooner or later. Moreover, at this point, she couldn't continue pretending.

"If there is something you really want to help a friend with, but you really can't do it due to personal reasons, what would you do?" She cheered up and asked Anqi for advice.

"Then I can only do my best. I don't think my friends would want to put me in a difficult position in order to help me, and they would understand my difficulties." An Qi said as she put the food into her mouth.

After hearing this, Tang Xin hesitated and said, "Won't people think I'm a disloyal friend?"

"On the other hand, if your friend is in trouble and can't help you, will you be dissatisfied with her?" An Qi analyzed patiently.

"Of course not. After all, she has tried her best." Tang blurted out without thinking.

An Qi put on an expression that said no further explanation was needed. Tang Xin seemed to be lost in thought, as if she had made a decision.

After get off work, Tang Xin rode her bike to Yushan's school again, only to find out that Yushan had gone to another place for exchange and study with other colleagues the day before, and it would take about ten days for her to come back.

After dinner, Tang Xin wasn't in the mood to set up shop today. She quickly retreated to her room and called Yushan again, but the call didn't go through. She had no idea why. And there was no response to the WeChat message she sent yesterday. She'd tried almost every trick she could think of, but nothing had worked. Finally, giving up hope, she decided to send her another WeChat message.

"I can't get through to you. Military news is urgent here, and the situation is serious. My integrity has been shattered because of you. That Jin guy has bad intentions and wants to do something bad to me, and he even said you agreed to this beforehand (we'll settle this when you get back). You know I'm still a virgin, and I have to keep my chastity for my future husband, so I had to shamelessly lie about having my period. You also said that he's had so many failed blind dates (I feel so lucky for those women), which made me believe he was gay or had a physical problem. Now it seems he's just a perverted, shameless male pervert (some profanity omitted). This job is truly beyond my ability, so please forgive me for being so disloyal, but I can only help you up to this point. I'm also saving you money for the GTA concert."

He typed all the words in one go and clicked Guan Yushan's profile picture.

"Xinxin, come out for a moment!" Tang Xin quickly pressed the send button, completing a major task. She breathed a sigh of relief, threw her phone on the bed, opened the door and went out to see what was going on with Tang's mother.

As soon as she entered the living room, Tang Xin was pulled to the sofa by her mother. Her mother looked happy about something. As expected, the moment her mother spoke, Tang Xin knew it was indeed a happy occasion.

"Your Aunt Li called just now and said that one of her friend's sons doesn't have a girlfriend yet." Tang Xin knew what was going to happen next from the radiant look on her mother's face.

"Mom! I'm only 25, it's too early to go on a blind date now! Wait until I'm and still can't get married, then arrange this for me."
