Gold Medal Sweetheart

Chapter 275 Does Everything Still Matter?

Just like many campus romances Tang Xin has seen, even without any external factors, as they graduate and enter society, geographical factors, different plans for the future, increased temptations, and so on, two people who were originally in love will eventually break up due to various practical problems.

But Tang Xin felt that there was no need to debate the truth with Cheng Ran. She just smiled sadly, "This short term is several years."

Cheng Ran was stunned by the question and paused for a moment before continuing, "I later called my roommates and they told me that you had contacted them and later went to school. Then my roommates saw you running out of the teaching building in the rain. After hearing this, I no longer had the courage to call you."

Having said that, Cheng Ran looked ashamed, and finally turned his gaze from looking at her back to the cup in his hand.

Tang Xin pursed her lips. Although she had never spoken about it in the past, she had indeed been brooding over Cheng Ran's sudden departure, and even dared not to start a new relationship. But after learning the full story many years later, she suddenly felt very bored. Her former obsession was just a joke.

She smiled and said, "I know everything you want to say. It's getting late. I have to go back."

"Tang Xin," Cheng Ran wanted to grab her wrist, but when he saw her eyes full of rejection, he withdrew his hand awkwardly. "Don't you believe me?"

"Whether you believe that time will not go back, does it still matter?"

In fact, it’s not that I doubt the credibility of what Cheng Ran said. From my previous understanding of Cheng Ran, he at least would not make up such a story to gain her forgiveness.

But at this moment, Tang Xin really couldn't find anything else to say except these.

Cheng Ran took out a beautifully wrapped box from the bag he was carrying. "I really didn't know about studying abroad. I bought this little gift for you when I was in England. I wanted to give it to you after I returned home, but I never had the chance to give it to you."

The wrapping paper was already a little worn. Tang Xin's eyes flickered slightly. She still remembered when Cheng Ran told her that he was going abroad for a few days, he pinched her wrinkled nose and asked, "What gift do you want?"

Tang Xin withdrew her thoughts briefly after recalling the past. She looked at the gift box and gave a wry smile. "Do you still remember what I said to you?"

Cheng Ran's face was a little embarrassed. He certainly remembered that the girl hugged his arm and said, "I don't want anything, I just want you to come back soon."

"I'm sorry..." At this point, even the apology seemed pale and powerless.

"Forget it, it's all in the past." Tang Xin mechanically moved the corner of her lower lip.

"I know it's wishful thinking for me to ask you to forgive me, but if you are willing to give me a chance to atone for my sins, I will do my best." Cheng Ran looked at her solemnly without blinking.

If these words had been said a few years earlier, if Cheng Ran had regretted staying abroad, missed him as much as she did, and then rushed back to China, Tang Xin would have nodded without thinking, but there are no ifs in life.

After staring at the man for a few seconds, Tang Xin finally said calmly, "Cheng Ran, I want to go back."

She lowered her head to grab her backpack from the chair next to her. As she moved, a shiny metallic curve suddenly slid down from her collar. She paused for a moment, then hurriedly covered the thing and hid it in her collar.

However, the man's hand was faster than hers and he pressed down her arm, interrupting her attempt to cover up.

A star-shaped necklace pendant swayed slightly in front of the pink top, and then stopped abruptly in the two people's frozen gaze.

After a moment of silence, Cheng Ran asked in a hoarse voice, "Actually, you still have me in your heart, right?"

It was the first gift he gave to a girl on her birthday after they established their relationship. Although the price was not very expensive, it was very memorable.

"You're overthinking it. I just think it's too troublesome to take it off." Tang Xin said solemnly, avoiding Cheng Ran's questioning gaze.

Pursing his lips, Cheng Ran finally didn't continue the topic. He just said in a deep voice, "I'll take you home."

"No need." Tang Xin said bluntly.

"Would you accept this?" Cheng Ran picked up the gift box that was lying alone on the table.
