Gold Medal Sweetheart

Chapter 12 Nemesis Approaches

Although she sighed, Tang Xin didn't think much of the handsome guy's performance, so she didn't want to accept his kindness for no reason. Although she hesitated for a moment, she still said politely: "I can do it myself, no need to trouble you." She didn't extend her hand, but tried to stand up slowly by herself.

Perhaps it was because the fall wasn't too light, or perhaps the cleaning lady had wiped the tiles so clean that there was no friction left, but the moment she stood up, her legs seemed a little unfit to support her entire body. She stumbled, and her body involuntarily leaned forward. Tang Xin sensed something was wrong, and mentally braced herself for another fall, but unexpectedly, her body landed on a broad, solid surface, and a refreshing masculine scent lingered around her. She looked up and saw that it was the young man who had quickly caught her. The broad, solid surface was his arms, and the almost captivating handsome face closer to her made her even more uneasy.

After a few seconds of awkwardness, Tang Xin pushed the man away reflexively, lowered her head, and smoothed the loose hair around her ears. She tried her best to act nonchalant, but in fact, it was very unnatural, because the blush on her cheeks had already betrayed her inner feelings.

The young man watched silently, then suddenly said, "Miss Guan, now that we're here, you can go in now."

After hearing this, Tang Xin nodded obediently.

"I think you should leave on your own," he paused when he saw that Tang Xin didn't object. "But don't act like a tough guy like you did just now. I'm not used to getting too close to strange women."

The words sounded like she was a slutty girl who was deliberately taking advantage of him. She felt a little angry and embarrassed at the same time, but the close contact just now made it difficult for her to say anything. So Tang Xin walked towards the innermost seat with a dark face and a bad temper.

After they sat down, the young man ordered a musk coffee for himself, then handed the menu to Tang Xin, signaling her to order. She took the menu and nearly fainted. Every coffee on the menu was ridiculously expensive, with the cheapest costing nearly a hundred yuan, and the musk coffee the young man had just ordered costing over 400 yuan. This wasn't even water; it was simply intoxicating. She didn't know what was so good about this coffee that was several times more expensive. The instant coffee she bought at the supermarket was just as good.

While Tang Xin was absorbed in studying the menu, the young man casually glanced at the girl across from her. Her face was delicate and pretty, without any makeup, which gave her a unique freshness. She was dressed casually with a backpack, looking like a student. Seeing her flipping through the menu several times, he feigned a cough, as if to deliberately attract the girl's attention. "Miss Guan, are you reading this menu like a novel?"

This guy was really annoying. Hearing the man's harsh reminder, Tang Xin had to stop browsing the menu and said, "I'm just about to order, waiter, give me a glass of lemonade." She looked through the menu several times and found the cheapest one, but it still cost 36 yuan. How many lemons would that cost? It made her heartbroken.

While waiting for the meal to be served, the man slowly introduced himself: "My name is Jin Taize, but I'm very pressed for time. We originally planned to meet for half an hour, but you're late, so we only have 18 minutes left." As he spoke, he looked down at the exquisite watch on his wrist.

"It's only eighteen seconds. You think I can't wait to come? I must have been forced to come. Actually, I fell down as soon as I walked in, and it still hurts. Why are you going on a blind date when you're so busy? Actually, neither she nor Yushan wants to. How abhorrent!" She muttered to herself, but she had to be polite: "It's okay. If you want to be busy, you can go ahead. I'm fine." She couldn't wait to end this awkward meeting.

"If it were in the past, I would have turned around and left, because I don't like people who don't keep time," Jin Taize looked at Tang Xin thoughtfully, with a mischievous glint in his eyes, "But, Miss Guan, you give me such high courtesy as soon as we meet. Although I am flattered, I have to reciprocate." After he finished speaking, a defiant arc spread across the corners of his mouth.

Jin Taize seemed to be irritating her with every word he said, but the embarrassing thing that happened just now was indeed his own masterpiece, so he had nothing to say. He could only grin and make an expression that was hard to tell whether it was crying or laughing. The weird expression was completely seen by Jin Taize.

While waiting for their drinks, Jin Taize took a call. Tang Xin saw him intently arranging tasks. She couldn't believe the man sitting across from her was the real-life head of the prestigious Shitian Group. She couldn't help but steal a few glances—and then another. I don't often shop at your place, so seeing you a few more times is a welcome eye-opener. Besides your good looks, there's nothing special about you. But being a businessman is exhausting, especially being a prominent businessman like him, even on weekends. I'd worked a long overtime today and was feeling a bit tired. But I heard he'd been busy all morning, yet he was still so energetic and composed, assigning tasks to his subordinates. He didn't seem like he was four years older than them, as Yu Shan had said. It seems there's a huge difference between making money for others and making it for yourself. Just as Tang Xin was lost in thought, Jin Taize, who had been absorbed in his work, suddenly glanced up at her. His deep gaze seemed to penetrate everything, exuding a pressure she couldn't avoid. She could only slowly look away and gaze out the window.

After hanging up the phone, Jin Taize didn't look like he had just finished a complicated task that Tang Xin didn't understand at all. He said leisurely, "Is there something about my face that makes Miss Guan so intoxicated?"

Her face immediately turned red and she gave me a puzzled look. Was it that obvious to me?

I was greeted with a proud and somewhat teasing look as confirmation, saying, "You can obviously tell what brand of underwear I'm wearing."

"I think you look really young since you are still so energetic despite your busy schedule!" Before she finished speaking, she saw Jin Taize looking at her with a slightly frown, "Look young? As far as I know, I am only three years older than you." His words emphasized that he didn't need to look young, he just looked young.

Tang Xin chuckled dryly, then wisely averted her gaze under pressure. Men also care so much about how others judge their appearance. Perhaps the more handsome a man is, the more he cares.

Soon, their drinks arrived. Tang Xin sat there quietly. It was her first blind date, and she wasn't sure what to say. She wasn't the legitimate Guan Yushan, and talking too much would easily give her away. Instead, Jin Taize peppered her with questions about her hobbies, her favorite foods, where she went to college, what she did for a living, and so on. Tang Xin obediently answered all of them. Of course, when it came to her family background and her specific job, she brushed them off, quickly avoiding the subject. Tang Xin secretly admired her blind date; he was a true veteran of blind dates, and he was very familiar with the process. But it felt like a CEO interviewing an employee.

After some understanding, Jin Taize elegantly picked up the cup, lowered his eyes, took a sip, and slowly said: "Don't you have anything you want to ask me?"

I'd heard that Jin Taize had always been quiet in previous meetings, unconcerned about what others thought of him, and only offered a few words in response to others' questions. Today was an exception. Tang Xin wasn't prepared for Jin Taize's sudden question, and was a bit bewildered. Her hand, usually stirring casually with the straw, froze, seemingly unable to react. She looked up at him in surprise.

Jin Taize raised his eyebrows and repeated nonchalantly, "Don't you have anything you want to ask me?" He was rare in his patience and said it slowly.

"Uh...uh..." Tang Xin thought hard in her head, "What kind of person do you hate the most?"

Jin Taize was slightly startled at first, then he calmly said, "He has no sense of time, is disorganized, procrastinates, and is scheming..."

As Tang Xin listened to the other party's statement, she wondered if these shortcomings were tailor-made for her. It seemed Guan Yushan would be able to complete her mission ahead of schedule. As she thought this, she unconsciously curled up the corners of her mouth slightly, nodding rhythmically along with the other party's description.

"I think I've really missed the mark with these shortcomings," she said, earnestly putting on a face that expressed regret for not being able to satisfy the other person. Jin Tae-jae couldn't help but laugh at the girl's calculations; it seemed like today's situation was truly unique.

"Although there are many shortcomings," Jin Taize suddenly raised his head, shooting a sharp gaze at Tang Xin, "I admire your honesty." That cynical tone once again irritated someone, who could only stiffly reply, "Thank you..." The intended effect wasn't achieved.

It looked like he'd been drafted into the army this morning. Sure enough, it boded well for a bad day. Better get out of here as soon as possible. Looking at the clock, it was already 1:33. Tang Xin feigned composure and said, "Um, Mr. Jin, you just said you were very busy at work today..."

"Gurgle... Gurgle..." A discordant sound broke the apparent calm. Tang Xin subconsciously touched her stomach and secretly accused it in her heart, "I know you are hungry, can't you just hold back and protest? It's shameful."

Jin Taize looked at her with a pleasing expression, then raised his right arm in a graceful arc, calling the waiter, who whispered something to her.

After the waiter left, Jin Taize said, "Don't worry, the work has just been done. But your stomach seems to be more anxious than mine."

Doesn't this guy always try to leave room for others? Tang Xin rolled her eyes at him, of course, in her heart.
