Chapter 107 Peacemaker

Chapter 107 Peacemaker

"I told you I'm not capable of being a peacemaker." Wei Qing knew Jin Taize was determined, but Shao Chengxue's crying that afternoon had left him so embarrassed he didn't know what to do, so he agreed. But he didn't need to think about it, he could guess the outcome.

The cell phone rang. Wei Qing looked at Lai Xian, then at Jin Taize, before answering the call.

Wei Qing cast a meaningful look at him, which made Jin Taize alert immediately. He squinted his eyes and looked over, listening to Wei Qing's phone call with his ears perked up.

"It's been a long time since we last met." Wei Qing said gently.

"Go help?" Wei Qing's expression froze, and he looked at Jin Taize with some embarrassment. "I don't know how long I'll be busy."

Tang Xin hung up the phone awkwardly, her hand still aching from holding the phone. She looked at Lin Lin, whose hopeful glint had instantly vanished, with a look of self-blame, mumbling, "He's still busy."

In reality, Lin Lin had already guessed what was going on from the previous conversation and Tang Xin's reaction. However, she still readily put her arm around Tang Xin's shoulders and smiled carelessly, "Forget it. Business is booming today anyway, and I'm so flush with cash I don't have time for romance."

Tang Xin was rocked by her, a trembling laugh spilling from her chest, making Lin Lin laugh so hard she couldn't straighten her back. She felt a little guilty for not being able to help, but it was Lin Lin who comforted her. But matters of the heart, after all, depend on both parties involved. No matter how much others try to bring them together, it's not as good as two people who truly understand each other.

Jin Taize's attention was entirely on Wei Qing's call. He glanced at Wei Qing's phone and asked, "Why, do I know him?"

Wei Qing nodded, "I think they know each other." He wasn't sure if Tang Xin had confessed the truth to Jin Taize. Although Jin Taize was absolutely certain he could see through her, he wasn't sure if he had exposed her. So he couldn't rashly reveal Tang Xin's name.

Wei Qing glanced at Jin Taize, implying that it was a testament to your ability if you could guess it right.

Jin Taize said slowly, "Tang Xin."

Wei Qing curled his lips and smiled, then frowned again, complaining, "That's your shortcoming. You don't even leave room for people to suspense you. You don't even have the pleasure of teasing you. Who would want to chat with you?"

Jin Taize stared at Wei Qing's exasperated expression, raised his eyebrows, and accepted all the pertinent comments with a smile, feeling very proud.

"Didn't you know long ago that she was not Guan Yushan?" Jin Taize's words pierced Wei Qing like an arrow, as if he was going to call him to account.

Wei Ci was caught off guard by the attack and chuckled, agreeing with it. But he added, "It wasn't too early. It was when the three of us had dinner together."

The two men smiled at each other. Years of friendship had given them a tacit understanding of each other's past and present thoughts.

Friendship is that simple. You know I can guess the girl's true identity, and I also know that you choose to remain silent to help the girl keep the secret. But everything is naturally healed in this smile.

"What does she want you to help with?" Jin Taize asked.

"We actually met at the night market."

"Night market?" Jin Taize was puzzled.

"Tang Xin is selling snacks at a stall over there." Wei Qing recalled the scene of their first meeting.

"Setting up a stall?" Jin Taize couldn't help but repeat Wei Qing's words in surprise.

Wei Qing did not refute.

Jin Taize couldn't imagine that such a petite girl could go to the night market alone to set up a stall to make a living, especially in a place like a night market with such a complicated environment.

He tapped his chin with his index finger twice, pondered for a moment, and then, with his gaze as sharp as a ray of light, asked Wei Qing, "What did you just say?"

Wei Qing obviously didn't understand what he meant, and he mumbled again, "Tang Xin is setting up a stall at the night market."

"Not this sentence," Jin Taize interrupted him, "the one before I answered the phone."

Wei Qing frowned and thought for a moment, then asked uncertainly, "I'm not capable of being a peacemaker?"

Jin Taize's eyebrows suddenly raised high, and a strange light appeared in his eyes.
