The Legend of the Princess' Counterattack
Chapter 7: Difficult Search
Yun Yao and Xiao Cui began their difficult searching journey in the palace.
The palace is huge in scale, with deep courtyards, and countless pavilions, side rooms, and gardens scattered around in an orderly manner, like a huge maze.
Clues to the ancient book may be hidden in every corner, but every step forward seems to be filled with obstacles.
They first came to the library of the palace, a magnificent building with tall bookshelves and piles of books.
But most of the books here were common classics, history, poetry, and songs, and there was no trace of the ancient books they were looking for.
Yun Yao carefully examined every book on the bookshelf, hoping to find some special marks or clues in them.
Xiao Cui was helping to sort out the messy books. The dust was flying in the sunlight, making the two of them cough from time to time.
In the corner of the library, there is a small locked compartment.
Yun Yao felt that this compartment was a little suspicious, but the lock on the door was rusty, and it was obvious that no one had opened it for a long time.
Xiao Cui found an old key and took a lot of effort to open the lock.
There was an old smell in the compartment, and some worn-out books were placed there.
Yun Yao excitedly flipped through the books, but found that they were all ordinary, incomplete books with blurred words. She couldn't help feeling a little disappointed.
After leaving the library, they came to the back garden of the palace. The garden was full of flowers, but Yun Yao and Xiao Cui had no intention of appreciating the beautiful scenery.
They walked along the path in the garden, carefully observing every plant and tree around them.
Suddenly, Yun Yao found a strangely shaped stone with some strange symbols engraved on it.
She thought these symbols might be related to ancient books, so she and Xiao Cui studied them carefully. However, no matter how they looked at them, they could not understand the meaning of these symbols.
Just then, a few maids passed by and saw Yun Yao and Xiao Cui next to the stone, and they smiled mockingly.
One of the maids said, "Oh, isn't this the unloved princess? Why is she staring at a stone here in a daze? Has she lost her mind?"
Yun Yao ignored their ridicule and continued to focus on the symbols on the stone. Seeing that Yun Yao did not respond, the maids felt bored and walked away.
Then, they came to the abandoned courtyard of the palace. It was overgrown with weeds, the houses were dilapidated, and there was a gloomy atmosphere. Yun Yao and Xiao Cui walked into a room carefully, and there was a pungent smell in the room.
As soon as she entered, Xiao Cui accidentally triggered a mechanism, and several sharp arrows shot out from the wall. Yun Yao was quick-witted and pulled Xiao Cui to hide behind a table nearby. The sharp arrows flew past the table and deeply penetrated the opposite wall.
Yun Yao wiped the cold sweat from her forehead and said to Xiao Cui, "It's very dangerous here. We have to be careful."
Xiao Cui nodded, with a hint of fear in her eyes. They continued to look for clues in the house, and Yun Yao found a tattered map in a shabby box.
The writing on the map was already blurred, but Yun Yao relied on her observation skills to discover that there was a marked place on the map that looked like a remote corner of the palace.
They followed the instructions on the map and came to that remote corner. It was a small courtyard full of debris, and the surrounding walls were already mottled. Yun Yao and Xiao Cui began to search among the debris.
Suddenly, a big rat jumped out from the pile of debris, and Xiao Cui screamed in fear. Although Yun Yao was also startled, she calmed down and continued to search.
At the bottom of the pile of junk, Yun Yao found a secret compartment. There was a combination lock on the secret compartment, which stumped Yun Yao. She began to try various possible combinations of numbers to open the lock, but all failed. Xiao Cui watched anxiously, worried that Yun Yao's actions would trigger other mechanisms.
Just when Yun Yao felt a little desperate, she suddenly remembered some knowledge about combination locks that she had read in modern times. She carefully observed the wear marks on the combination lock and found that several numbers were worn out more seriously, so she tried to use these numbers to form a password. Finally, with a slight sound, the secret compartment was opened.
There was a box in the secret compartment. Yun Yao carefully opened the box, but there was only a piece of paper inside. There were some strange words written on the paper, which looked like an ancient code.
Yun Yao and Xiao Cui looked at the note with confusion on their faces. But Yun Yao did not give up, she knew that this might be an important clue to find the ancient book. She began to carefully study the words on the note, trying to find a way to crack the code.
In this process, Yun Yao constantly used his modern knowledge and logical thinking.
She connected the words on the note with the symbols on the stones and marks on the map she had seen before, trying to find the pattern.
Her mind was racing, constantly making assumptions and inferences.
Xiao Cui watched Yun Yao's concentration from the side, and her heart was full of admiration. She knew that Yun Yao was different from other princesses, she had firm beliefs and extraordinary wisdom.
After a long period of thinking and trying, Yun Yao finally found a way to crack the code. The text on the note pointed to an ancient clock tower in the palace.
Yun Yao and Xiao Cui smiled at each other. They knew that they were one step closer to finding the ancient book. But they also knew that the bell tower might hide more dangers. However, Yun Yao did not back down. She took Xiao Cui towards the bell tower, her heart full of expectation and nervousness.
