The Legend of the Princess' Counterattack

Chapter 20: The first time to practice, there are many difficulties

Yun Yao began to practice according to the ancient book. Although the paper of this ancient book has turned yellow, the description of the method is very detailed. She found a quiet corner, sat cross-legged, and adjusted her breathing as described in the method, trying to make her mind reach an ethereal state. However, this first step was not easy. In this noisy palace courtyard, the footsteps and conversations of servants could be heard from time to time, as well as the crowing of chickens and barking of dogs in the distance. These sounds constantly disturbed Yun Yao, making it difficult for her to concentrate.

After finally clearing away some distracting thoughts, Yun Yao began to try to feel the spiritual energy around her. The air in this world of cultivation was filled with wisps of spiritual energy, which were like lively spirits floating in the air. But Yun Yao found that her body seemed to absorb the spiritual energy very slowly, just like a sieve with fine holes, and the spiritual energy could only penetrate in little by little. She tried hard to make her body more "transparent", and according to the instructions of the exercises, she relaxed every pore to welcome the arrival of the spiritual energy.

When she finally guided a trace of spiritual energy into her meridians, a new problem arose. When guiding spiritual energy to flow through the meridians, blockages often occur. Yun Yao could clearly feel that when the spiritual energy reached a certain position in the meridians, it was like encountering a solid wall and could not move forward. Every time it encountered a blockage, Yun Yao would feel a sharp pain, a stabbing pain coming from deep in the meridians, as if countless needles were piercing her blood vessels. This pain instantly covered her forehead with sweat, and her body began to tremble unconsciously.

But Yun Yao knew that she couldn't give up. In modern society, she was not someone who would give up easily. She gritted her teeth, endured the severe pain, and tried to impact the blockage again and again. She recalled the description of the operation of the meridians in ancient books, trying to find a way to break through. She thought that maybe the way she guided the spiritual energy was wrong, so she adjusted her mind and pushed the spiritual energy more gently, like a trickle slowly gathering strength, trying to break through the obstacle.

However, after many attempts, the results were still unsatisfactory. After several impacts, the spiritual energy became weaker, while the blockage remained solid. Yun Yao began to feel anxious. She knew that if she couldn't solve this problem, she would not be able to continue on the path of cultivation. She decided to temporarily stop guiding the spiritual energy and readjust her state.

She took a deep breath and calmed herself down again. She began to wonder if her body had not yet adapted to the spiritual energy of this world. After all, she had traveled through time and space, and her body might still have some habits from the modern world. So, she changed her strategy and stopped rushing to absorb a large amount of spiritual energy. Instead, she tried to familiarize her meridians with the existence of spiritual energy.

She slowly introduced a trace of weak spiritual energy into the meridians, and then stopped forcing it, and let it stay at the entrance of the meridians, as if she was having a gentle conversation with the meridians. She carefully felt the reaction of the meridians to the spiritual energy, and found that the meridians seemed to be slightly rejecting the spiritual energy, just like the defensiveness of two strangers when they first met. Yun Yao understood that this was a key issue. She needed to let the meridians accept the spiritual energy and treat it as a part of her body.

She tried to soothe her meridians with her mind, just like coaxing a crying child. She imagined her meridians as a warm harbor, and the spiritual energy as a returning ship. In this way, she gradually eliminated the meridians' rejection of the spiritual energy. This process was very slow and required great patience. Each time she soothed, she could only reduce the meridians' defense against the spiritual energy a little bit.

As time went by, Yun Yao felt that her meridians seemed to have less repulsion to the spiritual energy. She carefully tried to guide the spiritual energy through her meridians again. This time, the spiritual energy went a little further than before, but soon encountered a blockage again. However, Yun Yao did not feel frustrated as before, because she knew that she had made some progress.

She adjusted her method again, this time combining some health-preserving concepts from modern society. She thought that since the meridians were blocked, it might be related to the blood circulation in the body. So, in between her practice, she began to do some simple movements to promote the blood circulation in the body. She stood up, gently swung her limbs, and did some stretching movements, just like doing a simple set of yoga.

After doing these movements, she sat down again and began to practice. She found that her body seemed to become lighter and her perception of spiritual energy became more acute. She guided the spiritual energy into the meridians again. This time, when the spiritual energy encountered the blockage, it still stagnated, but she felt that the blockage seemed to be loosened a little.

Yun Yao was delighted. She seized this opportunity, increased the power of her mind, and adjusted her breathing rhythm to coordinate the breathing and the flow of spiritual energy. Her breathing became deep and regular, like the tide of the sea, pushing the spiritual energy forward wave after wave. With her unremitting efforts, the spiritual energy finally broke through the blockage and continued to move slowly in the meridians.

Yun Yao heaved a sigh of relief, with a gratified smile on her face. However, she knew that this was just the beginning. There were still many meridians in her body that needed to be opened, and as she practiced more, she might encounter more difficulties. But she already had confidence that as long as she persevered, she would be able to go further on the road of practice.

She continued to practice according to the method, constantly guiding the spiritual energy to flow through the meridians. Every time she encountered a blockage, she would summarize her experience and try different methods to break through. Sometimes she would adjust her sitting posture, sometimes she would change the angle of guiding the spiritual energy, and sometimes she would imagine some powerful forces in her mind to cheer herself up.

As time passed, Yun Yao gradually immersed herself in cultivation. She forgot everything around her, the shabby courtyard she was in, and her identity as an unfavored princess. All she could see was the spiritual energy that kept running through her meridians, and the path to a higher realm of cultivation.

Although the process of cultivation is full of hardships and pain, Yun Yao's heart is full of hope. She knows that only through cultivation can she survive in this world of cultivation full of dangers and challenges, change her destiny, and make those who once looked down on her look at her with new eyes.

During this process, Yun Yao also deeply realized how difficult it was to practice. Every breakthrough was like climbing a steep mountain, which required great effort and sweat. But she also felt the sense of accomplishment brought by practice. Every time the spiritual energy smoothly ran a distance in the meridians, every time she felt her body became stronger, she felt that her efforts were worth it.

She knew that she still had a long way to go. Her strength was still very weak, and there were still many people in this palace who wanted to harm her. But she believed that as long as she kept working hard, one day she would become a powerful cultivator, standing at the top of this world and overlooking all living beings.
