Chapter 121 Night Visit to Xiangyin

Xiangyin was actually rather thin to begin with, but now her face was ashen, and she was no longer just thin; she could be described as emaciated.

He slowly wiped away his tears, held Xiangyin's dry hand, and said, "Sister, what's wrong with you?"

However, Xiang Yin seemed not to have heard it. She still lay there with her eyes closed, without any reaction at all.

Huanhuan looked at Second Aunt and Huamei. Second Aunt had no time to wipe her tears. Huamei explained to Huanhuan, "She has been like this these days. She won't respond when I talk to her, and won't eat when I ask her to. Every day I force her to eat a bowl of porridge, but she only eats half and vomits the other half. She can't eat much in total. She is also unkempt and refuses to wash up. She is alone, either in a daze or in tears. She often stays awake all night, and only closes her eyes for two or three hours after a few days when she is really tired. She is stupid all day long."

He asked slowly, "Doesn't Xiangyin love embroidery the most? Why don't you give her some embroidery to try?"

Huamei replied, "I have tried it. I gave her her favorite embroidery, but she didn't even look at it. I stuffed it into her hands but she refused to take it. I said, 'Look, this is your favorite. You spent a lot of effort on this flower and this leaf...' But before I could finish my words, she snatched it and threw it out of the window. This is still a good thing. Most of the time, she just ignores me."

Hearing this, Second Aunt remembered something, took a square embroidered handkerchief and a handful of colored silk thread, and said, "She threw away all the other embroidered works, but she treasured the one you gave her last time."

Huanhuan took the thing from her second aunt's hand in confusion, wondering when she had given it to her. But she soon saw the metaphor of the rock and the reed on the handkerchief, and suddenly remembered that Xie Shen had asked her to deliver something. She thought: Could this be from Xie Shen?

Just as I was wondering, I suddenly heard Huamei excitedly say, "Wake up, wake up, the lady is awake!"

He slowly stretched out his right hand and placed it on the edge of Xiangyin's quilt, and called softly, "Xiangyin."

"Sister-in-law..." Xiang Yin could only utter this one word, and then left two lines of tears.

"There's a reaction, there's a reaction!" Second Aunt and Huamei were so excited that they clasped their hands tightly together.

But from his own angle, he could clearly see that Xiang Yin's eyes were fixed on the embroidered handkerchief in his hand.

Now Huanhuan's mind moved, and she made a bold guess. She whispered, "Do you like it, sister? I'll get you some later."

Hearing this, Xiang Yin's lifeless eyes showed a glimmer of light, but she was too weak, and the light did not last long, just a flash. But this flash was enough to make Second Aunt burst into tears of joy and make Hua Mei jump with excitement.

Huanhuan seized the opportunity to coax Xiangyin and said, "Then why don't you eat something?"

Xiang Yin tried to nod weakly, but she was unable to make even the slightest movement and could only blink a few times.

But everyone understood her actions. Huamei immediately turned around, picked up the bowl on the table, touched it and said, "That's great. It's still hot." After that, she walked forward to feed Xiangyin the porridge.

Huanhuan took the porridge and indicated that she would do it. Huamei then helped Xiangyin up and let the weak Xiangyin lean on her. Huanhuan and Huamei cooperated to make Xiangyin drink half a bowl of porridge. After drinking half a bowl of porridge, Xiangyin regained some strength and shook her head weakly to indicate that she didn't want to drink anymore.

Second Aunt said on the side: "This is already very good, take your time."

So Huanhuan and Huamei helped Xiangyin lie down again. In order not to disturb Xiangyin's rest, they went outside to talk.

Second Aunt took Huanhuan's hand and said gratefully, "Xuanhuan! It's great that you can come! Tomorrow! Come tomorrow too!"

Huanhuan agreed happily: "Okay, I will definitely come." But she hesitated for a moment and asked: "Second Aunt, why is Xiangyin under house arrest?"

"This..." The second aunt, who had been gentle and enthusiastic just now, suddenly stopped talking and felt a sense of distance.

"Xiang Yin is so ill now, have you consulted a doctor?" he asked slowly.

Second Aunt didn't hesitate at this time and answered, "I asked the doctor, he said there was nothing he could do, he just prescribed some nourishing medicine, but Xiangyin refused to drink it."

He looked at his second aunt and said bluntly, "Second aunt, I think Xiangyin seems to have a heart disease."

Second Aunt was touched at the heart of the matter, but she could only nod and look away, saying with a evasive look: "Xinhuan, you are right."

Seeing Second Aunt trying to cover up the issue, Huan Huan had no choice but to swallow the fact that she was thanking Shen for the gift and said, "Second Aunt, Xiang Yin has also gone to bed. I'll go back first and come back tomorrow. What do you think?"

Second Aunt nodded, and attentively sent Huanhuan to the gate of the mansion, and repeatedly insisted that Huanhuan take the carriage back. Huanhuan had no choice but to get on the carriage.

The driver had already whipped out his whip. My second uncle, who had rushed back, walked a few steps quickly and appeared in front of my second aunt, asking anxiously, "How is it?"

Second Aunt quickly replied, "Eat porridge."

The second uncle asked anxiously, "Why are you letting us go?" and was about to stop the carriage.

Second Aunt held him and said, "Go to sleep. Come back tomorrow."

The second uncle reacted, waved to Huanhuan who lifted the car curtain to say goodbye, and said, "Huanhuan, I will take care of the matter too. I won't let Qu'er bear it alone, don't worry."

He heard these words intermittently as the wheels rolled. He waved and smiled at his uncle and aunt, then left as the carriage drove away.

When they returned to Xin Garden in the Xu Mansion, Xu Qu had already washed and dressed and was waiting for Huan Huan. As soon as he saw Huan Huan, he asked about Xiang Yin's condition.

She shook her head slowly and said, "Not very well. She is skinny and lifeless. She refuses to eat and cannot sleep. She is in a daze all day. She does not comb her hair and cries all the time. She even throws aside her favorite embroidery."

Xu Qu's face was solemn, and he said, "Is it that serious?"

Then he slowly told about Xie Shen's gift and Second Aunt's cover-up, and said, "I think it has something to do with Master Xie Shen. I'm afraid it's a mental illness!"

Xu Qu said, "Last time you told me that he asked you to deliver something, and I felt something was wrong when he made that strange request. I'm afraid Xiang Yin is suffering from more than just a mental illness. She may be suffering from depression."

He asked slowly, "What is this disease? This is the first time I've heard of it. Is there any way to treat it?"

Xu Qu sighed and said, "I only heard my master mention it, but I don't know how to treat it. It would be great if my master was here."

Slowly, he said, "Second Aunt said she would come to pick me up tomorrow, so I'll go. How about you come with me to see Xiangyin?"

Xu Qu said, "I will definitely go, but Doctor Shi will be here tomorrow, so why don't you not go."

After thinking for a while, he said, "Xiangyin is so sick, I can't bear not to go and see her. Besides, I have already promised Second Aunt, and I can't go back on my word. How about sending someone to tell Doctor Shi that he doesn't need to come, and we go and see Xiangyin first, and then I'll go to Doctor Shi's pharmacy after I leave Second Uncle's place."

Xu Qu looked at Huan Huan, nodded helplessly and said, "Okay."

The next day, Huanhuan and Xu Qu took a carriage to their second uncle's house early in the morning. Their second uncle and aunt were already waiting at the door for the carriage to pick them up. Before the carriage had even stopped, their second aunt called out, "Huanhuan, you're here!"

Huanhuan lifted the car curtain and saw that Xu Qu had also come. Second Aunt was stunned. Second Uncle reacted quickly and whispered, "If Huanhuan knows, Qu'er will definitely know too. Don't be rude."

After saying that, the second uncle smiled and personally helped Huan Huan and Xu Qu get off the carriage.
