Man in the Ark: Revitalizing Kazdel

Chapter 48: Dead Souls Furnace

After leaving Tracy's residence, Roy decided to go to the core of Kazdel City, the Dead Soul Furnace.

Dead souls are a magical branch of Sarkaz. After death, they can gather into spiritual bodies and attach themselves to machines to exert their power through machines.

For example, the Tin Man, the Sarkaz airship, and the Dead Soul Furnace in front of him. Kazdel does not have his own large-scale Originium engine technology. Although the Blood Demon and the Banshee have snatched the Originium engine currently in use, they do not have other matching components.

This means that Kazdel City can only use burning source stones. This simple yet dangerous method provides energy for the entire city. The flames burn day and night and have become one of the symbols of Kazdel City.

After a Sarkaz warrior dies, others will throw the body into the furnace and burn it, which means that the soul has returned to its hometown.

This is a very important ceremony for them.

In fact, the main reason is that these dead Sarkaz warriors are all infected, and their bodies are difficult to handle. Throwing them into the furnace can burn the Originium in their bodies, which can also be regarded as a thank you for their contribution to Kazdel.

Roy climbed directly to the edge of the furnace and looked down at the blazing flames below. A large amount of burnt Originium dust was floating in the air. For non-infected people, the risk of contracting Originium disease by staying here was very high.

But the people working here are all Sarkaz, and dark Originium crystals can be seen on their exposed skin. They are putting carts of ore into the furnace. This is not only the power furnace of the city, but also the place for smelting metals.

The workers also noticed Roy's sudden appearance, but when they saw the Babel uniform on him, they lowered their heads and continued working.

Here you can see all the Originium crystal clusters in the city. They are like thorns growing in the desert. If you are not careful, they will scratch the people living here.

Roy stretched out his hands towards the two largest crystal clusters at the same time. He wanted to try what would happen if they were transformed at the same time.

This time the light band was larger than before, with a huge amount of energy flowing through it. Under the control of the Originium, they could only gather in Roy's hands obediently.

Roy directly opened the entrance to the small space in his hand, so that the pure source stone would condense and fall into the space, because Roy was worried that the accumulation of a large amount of source stone materials would cause natural disasters.

It was safer to put it in the small space. Roy was concentrating on transforming the Originium crystal cluster. He didn't notice that his crown had come out at some point, rising and falling between the two corners.

The black crown was still flickering alternately between the rise and fall, as if sending some signal outward. Behind the gate in the central core layer of the Rhodes Island landship docked outside the city, a machine that had just been awakened lit up.

"Powering on... "

"Signal detected...plan successful..."

"The experimental subject has variables... the plan has failed..."

......

When Roy began to transform the Originium crystal clusters, the huge light band attracted the attention of the staff on site, because in the morning, Babel Tower took action to deal with the dangerous crystal clusters in the city.

Now that they had a chance to see it up close, some people put down their work and watched Roy's movements curiously.

Originally they were still chatting and laughing, thinking that they could take this experience home and share it with their wives and children, or brag about it to their fellow drinkers at the bar when they went out for a drink tonight.

But when Roy's black crown appeared, everyone who was talking and laughing suddenly stopped laughing.

“Um… am I seeing right… is that the Demon King?” A middle-aged Sarkaz pointed at Roy with his finger covered in mineral dust, pointing at the black crown on Roy’s head.

“Old man, your eyesight is not good. I saw Her Highness Theresa on the street a few days ago. How could he be the Demon King…”, a slightly younger Sarkaz shook his head and continued.

"I heard that some of the Sakota's auras would mutate, maybe he is one of them."

"But Sakta has wings, he doesn't...and how could Sakta appear here...", another Sarkaz retorted.

The young Sarkaz who said Roy was a mutated Sakta still insisted on his statement, thinking that since Roy's halo had mutated, it was reasonable for his wings to also mutate and disappear.

While they were still arguing about whether Roy was the Demon King, the dead souls in the furnace had already sensed the Demon King's aura. An illusory figure rose from the flames and looked in the direction where the aura came from.

"Hmm, why isn't it Theresa? Oh, it's the prince that Natsu mentioned to us." The dead soul floated to Roy and circled around him a few times. It seemed to smell a familiar scent.

That is the taste of Tikaz's blood, imprinted in the memories of all souls.

Roy noticed the dead soul that had been circling around him. Since the transformation here was not yet complete, Roy planned to have a chat with it.

"Dead soul, why are you always circling around me? Don't you need to control the furnace?"

"Your Highness, how can you judge that I am not controlling the furnace?" The dead soul proudly turned in the air.

Roy then noticed that several nearly transparent threads connected the furnace and the dead soul's body, and it was controlled by these threads.

"Your Highness, what are you doing?" The dead soul only felt that a huge amount of Originium energy was drawn from a distance and disappeared in Roy's hands.

"Oh, Theresa said Kazdel was short of money, so I'm helping her make some pure Originium," Roy replied without even turning his head.

The dead soul was silent for a while, then moved closer to observe Roy's hands wrapped in Originium energy, and said admiringly: "Natsu heard you mentioned before, saying that you are the future hope of the Sarkaz. I think Natsu still underestimated your ability."

While the dead soul was talking, Roy had already completed the transformation of two Originium crystal clusters. He was very satisfied with the number of crystals transformed this time.

The spell in his hand stopped, the crown on his head automatically retracted, and the machine on Rhodes Island lost the signal again.

Roy shook his hands, which were a little numb from holding them up all the time. Turning his head, he saw the dead souls floating in front of him, and suddenly Roy thought of a question.

"By the way, Dead Souls. Are you going to this royal court meeting?" Roy was very curious about who the Lord of the Royal Court of Dead Souls was.

"Dead souls only care about the survival of the Sarkaz. They don't stand on any side. They usually don't go to your so-called royal court meetings," the dead soul replied.

"This royal court meeting will be unprecedented and will change the history of the Sarkaz. Are you sure you don't want to go?"

The dead soul originally wanted to refuse to participate, but when he heard Roy say that this was unprecedented, he was a little tempted.

"Then... let's discuss it. I guess only the elders are willing to go." The dead soul said uncertainly. This matter needs to be discussed with the old fellow in the furnace.

"Okay, then you guys discuss it." Roy showed a wicked smile on his face. This meeting was indeed unprecedented. Because after this meeting, the royal court would no longer exist.

The dead soul disappeared in front of Roy and went back to continue guarding the furnace.

Roy also began to look for some larger crystal clusters so that he could convert more.
