Man in the Ark: Revitalizing Kazdel

Chapter 4 Encounter with the Tower of Babel

The wasteland at night was originally a paradise for creatures such as the Claw Beasts and Originium Worms, but this land that had just experienced a battle seemed particularly quiet.

Until the light of several Originium lamps broke the silence, and a dilapidated pickup truck drove over. Several fully armed Sarkaz got out of the car, and they were obviously professionally trained. The logo printed on their uniforms showed that they were operators of Babel Tower.

They were attracted by the huge noise Roy made. The huge beam of light that crossed the wilderness almost hit the Rhodes Island, which was docked near Karl City for supplies.

Following the gullies formed by the magic on the ground, Babel Tower Operator found the source of the battle. The group quickly dispersed to investigate and soon found the body of the Absolver on the ground.

"Fslcon, come over and see, there are some dead bodies here." Hearing his teammate's call, Fslcon hurried over to check.

As a Fslcon who had participated in combat meetings at the headquarters of the Tower of Babel, he could recognize these distinctive staffs and clothing at a glance.

These were the bodies of the Absolvers. Fslcon looked at the distribution of the bodies on the ground and guessed that they were killed while escaping. He lifted up the black robes and found that all their blood had been sucked out.

Could it be the blood demon who did it? But isn't the blood demon in league with the Absolver? That huge beam of light doesn't look like a blood demon spell. Even the experienced Fslcon was confused.

Fslcon had no choice but to record all the situations at the scene and hand them over to specialists for analysis when he got back. Meanwhile, other operators also discovered the footprints of Roy and others.

"Judging from the footsteps, there are three people, and they are heading towards Karl City." Looking at the footprints extending in the direction of Karl City, Fslcon felt that the workload would increase dramatically.

They quickly took the bodies and the staffs from the scene into the car and drove back to the headquarters of Babel Tower. For the operators of Babel Tower, tonight will be a sleepless night.

Roy and his companions traveled in the wasteland by moonlight, and finally saw the outline of Karl City a few hours later. However, Shining did not go directly into the city, but chose to rest in the ruins outside the city for a while and then go into the city after dawn.

For safety reasons, the three decided to take turns to keep watch. Shining thoughtfully said that she could keep watch first, so that Roy and Nightingale could rest first. Roy, who usually had a regular schedule, could finally rest. He spread the black robe he had taken from the Absolver on the ground, and took some more to cover himself. Roy soon fell into a deep sleep.

"Wake up Roy, it's dawn." Roy, who was half asleep, felt someone calling him and a pair of hands shaking his body. Roy opened his eyes reluctantly and saw Nightingale's face as soon as he opened his eyes. Her long hair tickled Roy's face.

Turning around, he saw Shining preparing morning tea. "Hurry up and drink some hot tea to wake yourself up. We are getting ready to go into the city." Shining urged Roy to get up.

Roy simply washed up and picked up the hot tea that Shining had thoughtfully prepared. At this time, Shining wiped the sword and looked at Roy with strange eyes, which made Roy feel uncomfortable.

After taking a sip of tea to moisten his throat, Roy's confused mind became clearer. He suddenly remembered that he didn't seem to be on night watch. He quickly asked Shining, "Um... Shining, didn't we agree to take turns on night watch? Why didn't you wake me up?"

"It's because you slept too soundly. No matter how we called you, you wouldn't wake up, and you kept talking in your sleep." Nightingale answered before Shining.

"Sorry, I'm not usually like this. Maybe I was too tired last night." Roy made an excuse for himself.

Shining had also finished wiping his sword, and stood up in front of Roy. Before Roy could react, Shining spoke first, "Roy, what are your plans when you get to Karl City?"

During this period, Roy had his own ideas about the "Revitalization Plan". If he wanted to revitalize Kazdel, he had to end the civil war first. The fastest way was to reach a cooperation with one of the parties in the civil war.

Tracys is a tyrant, but Roy doesn't like his actions, and he is too scheming, and Roy feels that he can't beat him. In the original plot, after Tracys won the civil war, he led his men to fight in Victoria. He had no intention of rebuilding his hometown, but wanted to turn all the countries of Terra into Kazdel.

Theresa is a good choice. She is currently at a disadvantage. Collaboration with her is like timely help. With the two old guys, Doctor and Kal'tsit, who have connections with the former humans, it will be easier for me to implement my plan to develop the country through science and technology.

"I plan to go into the city to find the people from Babel Tower and prepare to cooperate with them," Roy said to Shining and the others.

"Roy, aren't you going to contact your teammates?" Nightingale asked curiously, remembering the teammates Roy mentioned before who were lost.

"This guy is lying to us. Do you think that with his strength, he would be attacked by gangsters and cause his teammates to be separated?" The great detective Shining had already seen through Roy's lies.

"Haha... Miss Shining is still very perceptive." Roy, who was exposed, could only smile apologetically. Nightingale knew the truth and stepped on Roy angrily.

"Then Shining, what are your plans for the future?" Roy asked Shining out of curiosity.

Shining and Nightingale looked at each other, and Nightingale nodded to Shining.

"We discussed it this morning. We plan to follow you."

"Ah, why", Roy didn't expect this answer.

"I originally planned to take Nightingale to find a cure for Originium disease, but now I have your spell. I will discuss it with her and stay with you from now on." Shining explained his decision to Roy.

"Haha..., then we will be a team from now on." Although it was a bit sudden, Roy was still very happy about Shining and Nightingale's decision.

"Okay, let's pack up and go into the city." Shining organized the supplies and turned to remind Roy.

......(dividing line)......

On the way from the ruins outside the city to the center of Karl City, Roy saw more and more Sarkaz. Some of them were cooking unknown food in the dilapidated rooms, and some were sharpening weapons... When they saw Roy and others, there was a strange light in their eyes.

Roy felt that they were quite hostile to outsiders, but after all, they were in Kazdel. The compatriots around him might take up arms and fight each other at any time, let alone outsiders.

After walking for a while, Roy finally arrived at the core area of Karl City. There were many shops here, some selling weapons, some selling spellcasting tools, and some selling some unknown plants. The boss said those were herbs for treating external injuries.

Shining took Nightingale around the market, buying whatever she needed and occasionally asking Nightingale if she liked anything, and if so, they would buy it together. Roy couldn't help but sigh, he didn't realize Shining was actually a rich woman.

As Roy followed Shining and looked around, he suddenly saw a familiar symbol - a tower framed by a triangle. It was the people from the Tower of Babel. Roy quickly called Shining and the others, and they followed.

Following the people from Babel Tower, Roy saw a group of Sarkaz gathered together. Someone was still shouting "Her Highness Theresa". Roy and Shining squeezed into the crowd.

Theresa was seen standing on a wooden platform, promoting her ideas about the country and encouraging people to join the Tower of Babel and fight for the freedom of the Sarkaz people.

Although there were many people in the audience, only a few people went to register to join Babel Tower after listening to Theresa's speech. Soon, all the people who were watching the excitement left, and only the Babel Tower operators were left to maintain safety.

Seeing that most people had left, Roy took Shining and the other person to the registration office to discuss cooperation with Babel.
