Man in the Ark: Revitalizing Kazdel
Chapter 38 I Just Want to Wear It for You
The flying platform landed very smoothly, without any bumps or crashes.
In order to avoid causing a commotion, Roy chose to land outside the city and then take Shining and the other man into the city on foot.
This was Nightingale's first time to come to the mobile city. Even though this city was shabby, poor and backward compared to mobile cities in other countries.
But this is the first mobile city belonging to the Sarkaz. For the Sarkaz, this is their dream home.
She had just stepped into the city and was pulling Shining through the streets, stopping to ask about anything she was interested in. Shining followed closely beside her to prevent her from tripping over the uneven city ground.
As someone who had been lurking in the city for a while, Roy was now responsible for leading the way, taking Shining and the others to visit the areas where there were many shops.
"Boss, how much do you sell this for?"
Nightingale stopped in front of a jewelry store and picked up a horn ornament made of metal and an unknown mineral.
Roy took a look and found no reaction from the Originium, so that piece of ore was not Originium.
For the Sarkaz, the horns on their heads are a symbol of identity, and for warriors, the horns represent their glory.
The owner of the jewelry store was a middle-aged Sarkaz woman with a yellowish complexion. Her clothes had lost their original color due to repeated washing.
There were faint crow's feet at the corners of her eyes, but her eyes still retained her passion for life.
This was different from most of the people in the city that Roy had met. There was no hope for the future in their eyes, only numbness towards their current predicament.
They are still alive, but just alive.
"This beautiful lady has great taste."
"This horn ornament is made of metal from the wreckage of the Victorian steam armor. It is strong and wear-resistant, and the inlaid stone is jade purchased from Longmen, Yan Country."
The shop owner tried hard to recommend her products. In fact, the piece of metal was a wreckage she dragged back from the wilderness, and the stone was just an ordinary stone picked up by the river, but the color was more unusual.
But in order to survive, she had no choice but to learn to cheat.
Nightingale knew nothing about steam armor and jade, she just thought the horn was beautiful.
She gently picked up the horn and kept trying different ways of wearing it in front of the mirror. She also asked Shining to help her put on the horn to see the overall effect.
"Roy, what do you think?" Nightingale turned around excitedly, looking forward to Roy's evaluation.
However, Roy's mind was not on Nightingale at the moment. He always felt that he was being spied on, but he couldn't find the source of the gaze.
The sound of the nightingale interrupted Roy's thoughts, and he came back to his senses, his eyes fell on the nightingale. Looking at the nightingale wearing horns in front of him, Roy's eyes revealed a hint of surprise.
The green pendant hung under the Nightingale's huge horn, contrasting with her golden hair, and swayed gently with her head.
"Nightingale, this horn ornament suits you very well, and the combination looks great together," Roy gave his highest praise. As a man who has been single for 25 years, he didn't know how to compliment a girl, so he could only use the ultimate skill of "sincerity".
Nightingale showed a faint smile on his face, and seemed satisfied with Roy's answer.
"If you think it looks good, I'll buy it."
As Nightingale spoke, she took out some worn-out banknotes from her bag (it was assumed that Kazdel also used Lungmen coins here) and was about to hand them over to the boss.
"Wait, didn't we agree that I would pay? How can I let you pay?"
Roy stopped Nightingale and came to the shop owner and asked, "Boss, how much?"
"Two...two hundred Longmen coins..." The shopkeeper regretted the moment she said the price. In fact, the horn ornament was not worth the price at all, but when she saw Roy wearing the Tower of Babel uniform, she wanted to ask for a little more.
Hearing the price, Shining and Nightingale frowned slightly. As natives of Kazdel, they felt that the horn ornament was a bit expensive. With this price, they could buy a sharp and durable dagger.
Nightingale came up to Roy and whispered in his ear: "Roy, forget it, it's too expensive."
"It's okay. Since you like it, just buy it. Actually, I'm an invisible rich man." Roy reached into his clothes and actually reached into his own small treasury space to take out money.
Then Roy handed two 100-yuan Longmen coins to the boss, and just as the boss was about to happily accept them.
Roy took the money back and said, "Boss, you see this horn ornament is so expensive. Shouldn't you give us some extra gifts?"
The boss was stunned for a moment, then smiled and said, "Brother, which jewelry do you like? I'll give it to you."
She also knew that she sold it at a high price, so it was reasonable for Roy to ask for one more piece of jewelry. After all, she could still make some money this way.
Roy looked carefully at the ornaments on the shelf, then looked back at Shining's horns several times, and finally set his eyes on a pair of golden horn ornaments.
Unlike Nightingale's pair of horn ornaments with pendants, this is a pair of rings worn on the horns, engraved with Sarkaz characters.
It means "Dedicated to the girl I love".
The Sakaz are relatively open-minded about love. When facing the opposite sex they have feelings for, they are bold and straightforward without too many twists and turns. So it is not surprising to see such words engraved on the horn ornaments.
The boss looked at Roy with a strange look, thinking that the young man was really capable, and then took the horn ornament from the shelf and handed it to Roy.
"Shining, come here for a moment. I've chosen one for you, do you want to try it now?"
Roy handed the horn ornament to Shining. She noticed the words engraved on it at a glance. She took it and held it tightly in her hand, and couldn't help but secretly glanced at Nightingale.
Nightingale also came over to see what Roy thought.
Shining simply put the horn ornament into her clothes to avoid being seen by Nightingale.
"Forget it. I'll go back and try again." Roy noticed that Shining seemed a little flustered, which was not like her.
"Hey, Shining, don't you like wearing horns? I'd really like to see you wearing them."
"Maybe next time..."
Nightingale held Shining's hand and continued walking towards the next store.
The innocent Nightingale thought that Shining didn't like wearing horn ornaments, so she didn't think much about it. She would see if there was anything Shining liked, and she could buy it for Shining.
Roy also shook his head helplessly. He had thought he would have a chance to see Shining wearing that horn ornament, what a pity.
He quickened his pace to catch up with the two and discuss what to eat for lunch, a universal problem.
......
Roy and his two companions finally solved their lunch problem by going to the most popular restaurant in the neighborhood based on the recommendation of a store manager.
"Ah, the barbecue in that restaurant is really good." Roy rubbed his bloated stomach and turned to say to Shining beside him.
"Yeah, it's really good. But I prefer their after-meal drinks. I didn't expect to be able to drink such good tea in Kazdel."
Shining gave her own evaluation of the black tea in the store, and Nightingale nodded quickly. She also liked the tea very much. It was a bit bitter at first, but a bit sweet after a careful aftertaste.
The most important thing is that it is very refreshing.
Not long after walking out of the store, Roy, who was walking in front, noticed that there seemed to be a huge statue standing in front of him.
When I got closer, I realized that this was a twin statue of Theresa and Theresis.
"This is General Tracys, Roy, have you seen him?"
Nightingale had never seen Tracy before, and looked up at the statue curiously.
"I have seen him, and I have made an appointment with him to spar with him sometime."
"What are you discussing?"
"Arm wrestling..."
Because the three of them were a little full, they chose to rest here for a while. There happened to be some benches nearby for people to rest.
Nightingale leaned on Shining's shoulder, and Roy sat next to Shining.
Although it was noon, it was already October in Kazdel, so the temperature was not high. There was a big tree near the bench, providing shade, and the sun shone through the shade, making me feel warm.
This caused Nightingale to doze off, as she usually took a nap. She had walked for so long this morning that she was feeling a little sleepy.
"Nightingale, lie down and sleep. I'll help you take off your horn ornaments." Shining shook Nightingale to wake her up and help her take off her horn ornaments.
But Nightingale didn't even open his eyes, and just answered in a daze: "Okay..."
Shining had no choice but to ask Roy to help hold Nightingale up. After taking off the horn, he let Nightingale lie on his legs.
Roy watched Shining put the nightingale horn ornament into the pocket of his clothes and saw the flash of gold.
"What's wrong with Roy? Why are you looking at me?" Shining also noticed that Roy was staring at him and asked in confusion.
"Shining, I still want to see how you look wearing those horn ornaments. There's no one else here, can you try them on?"
Because Nightingale was going to lie down to sleep, Roy and Shining were squeezed to one side of the bench. Now the two were so close that Roy could even see Shining's deep eyes and fluttering eyelashes.
Shining avoided Roy's gaze, nodded slightly, then slowly took out the pair of golden horn ornaments from her clothes, gently as if she was afraid of waking up the nightingale.
"I just want to wear it for you to see..."
Originally, Shining meant that she felt ashamed to wear the horn ornaments and didn't want to be seen by others. But now that she said this, Shining was almost crying because of her own stupidity.
She lowered her head in shame, not wanting Roy to see her expression.
"Okay..." Roy picked up the horn ornament and gently put it on Shining's white horn. The soft animal hair lining the horn ornament rubbed against the horn.
Shining felt as if Roy had cast an evil Sarkaz spell on him. His heart was beating fast and his head was dizzy. He didn't even know when Roy had helped him put on his horn.
"I'd say I have good taste. It looks really good on you."
"It's a pity there's no mirror, otherwise you could see it. How about asking Nightingale to get up and take a look?"
Roy's voice brought Shining back to her senses, and she quickly grabbed Roy's hand.
"I don't think it's necessary. Don't wake her up."
"Oh."
Seeing that Shining was unwilling, Roy gave up the idea of waking Nightingale up. He used to like waking people up and letting them go back to sleep.
