Chapter 97 Fireworks
The night is as dark as ink and silent.
Suddenly, a beam of bright light shot straight into the sky, breaking the silence of the night, followed by a gorgeous firework exploding in the sky, with gold, silver and red intertwined together, dazzling.
Lilith leaned against the window and watched quietly, with the changing light reflected on her face. Fireworks rose into the sky one after another, and then fell like meteors across the sky and fell into her blue eyes, like a sea of stars.
What day is it? She stared at the strange buildings outside, not knowing where she was. Since Hanukkah really started, every night was like today, with fireworks lighting up non-stop, adding joy and romance to the festival.
It was a pity that she could only admire it by this closed little window. Lilith touched the cold iron ring on her hand. After she was brought here by the bald man named Evelyn using teleportation magic, someone immediately came over and put the thing on her. The iron ring lit up and automatically tightened to the size that fit her wrist. Then she could no longer use any magic.
"It's just a formality, Miss Friar," Mr. Evelyn said at the time.
But this process was taking much longer than Lilith had imagined. Not only had there been no movement for so many days, but if it dragged on any longer she might have to go back to school... Peggy was right. That big barrel of fermented grain was wasted, Lilith sighed.
The people from the Magic Guild read out the regulations to her. It turned out that not only could the magic stone not be used for civilian production labor, but even magic could not be used. No wonder this world had the power of elements and magicians, and could do things that the other world could not do, but its productivity was still low and backward.
Is all this really a gift from God as the priest said? Then why doesn't God want this world to develop? This so-called magician's union is also like the temple's regulatory agency for magicians. Lilith thought about it and stared at the golden fireworks again.
……
"Dear Catherine, stop daydreaming and come here!" Queen Tservini called out to the princess who was standing on the terrace staring at the fireworks. The golden light adorned her silver hair, which was more dazzling than the jewels on her head, making the cold girl look noble and elegant, like the Son of God.
Caught for being lazy, Catherine sighed quietly and moved closer to the queen.
The gorgeous fireworks illuminated the Queen's palace, making this magnificent palace sparkle in the night light. Inside the palace, a lively aristocratic dinner was being held.
"Catherine, this is Earl Campbell's wife, and her outstanding eldest son, Robin Campbell." Tservini forcefully embraced Catherine, pushed her in front of the crowd, and introduced them to her one by one.
Robin looked at his mother. He seemed to be a few years older than Catherine and almost as tall as an adult. He was wearing an exquisitely tailored black suit with a white bow tie, showing his gentlemanly temperament. Upon hearing the queen's words, he immediately stepped forward and saluted solemnly. "Greetings, my dear princess. I have been looking forward to meeting you." He said as he looked at the princess who rarely appeared.
Catherine nodded faintly in response.
"Don't mind me, Robin. My sister is a shy lady." Canyon's pig head had returned to its original state. He squeezed over with a smile, livening up the atmosphere of this slightly dull social gathering.
Catherine gave him a cold look and did not refute.
"Yes, Catherine is a quiet child." Queen Tservini looked at Catherine lovingly, as if she was very satisfied with this heir. "I have always liked girls like this. She is a bit like me when I was young."
Everyone present was an expert at reading people's expressions. After a brief exchange of glances, Robin's attitude became even more enthusiastic. "Yes, Your Majesty, you and the princess are both treasures bestowed upon the Gaia Empire by the God of Light. High Court is so desirable because of your beauty."
Then he looked at Catherine again, "Your Highness, will you go to watch the knight's tournament tomorrow? I would like to present you with the wreath of the winner." The heir of the Campbell family seemed to be quite confident in his own strength, and his eyes were filled with the confidence that he was determined to win.
"Wow, are you going to join us, Robin?" Katherine didn't even need to ask, her family automatically arranged everything for her. Canyon excitedly made a promise on behalf of his sister, "I will definitely cheer for you tomorrow with Katherine!"
"Oh, Canion, you are such a caring brother. You must take good care of my princess tomorrow." The queen looked at her dear nephew with a smile.
"The queen and the princess have such a wonderful relationship, it's really enviable." Robin's mother said flatteringly, and the people around her echoed her.
Tservini smiled even more happily, and her gold sun earrings swayed with her movements, reflecting a dazzling light under the light. "Christina, I knew you understood me the best, just like before." The queen took the countess's hand and clinked her wine glass with hers. She turned her head and glanced at Catherine. "The princess is sensible and lovely. I wish she was my daughter."
...But you have your own daughter. Catherine turned her head to look at the queen, her mouth moved, and then her arm was pinched tightly, with such force that her skin felt painful. She turned her head and it was Canyon.
"Don't be stupid, Catherine!" Canyon pinched her arm as if to punish her and led her back, quietly leaving the Queen and her group who were walking and chatting, and whispered in Catherine's ear. This sister was still as stupid as before. With just one look from her, Canyon knew what she wanted to say, so he quickly stopped her.
Catherine looked at Canyon steadily, and then she neither spoke nor struggled, letting her brother hold her tightly. The two handsome faces were so close to each other that outsiders would think that the brother and sister were really close.
"The queen is helping you, don't be ungrateful." Kanyon was so angry that he gritted his teeth but still smiled. He looked around and taught his sister a lesson. "What good will it do you to upset her, huh? Her attitude will determine the positions of many nobles. Don't stand up for others when there is nothing to do. Your brothers and sisters are here, idiot!"
Catherine turned her head irritably, but met Robin's ambiguous eyes again. She had no choice but to turn back and look up at her brother, "Did I hit you too lightly?"
"...Is it so great to know magic?" Kanien loosened his grip, "You couldn't beat me before, but now you're so arrogant that it's annoying... No, it's getting more and more annoying!" He looked at his sister with a look of disappointment, and then looked around, "Go eat something and shut your mouth, please, I'll take care of that Robin for you."
"Why did you deal with him?" Catherine was puzzled.
"You must have a backup husband." Kanien looked at her with disdain, "Otherwise, I will be your first choice as husband." He pretended to dry heave.
Catherine's status as a princess prevented her from making such an expression like Canyon. She walked towards the dining table obediently, but when she passed Canyon, she stepped hard on his foot and crushed it a few times with her heel. After successfully seeing his grinning expression, she slowly moved away.
Beside the long table, two men in wizard robes stuffed food into their mouths quickly. The dishes here were like works of art, with good color, aroma and taste. They couldn't usually eat them.
The queen's guests included not only nobles, but also her favorite entertainers, painters, bards... and magicians who provided her with various services.
"The girl's father still hasn't responded?" They were invisible people at the banquet, and the nobles didn't even bother to communicate with them, so the two chatted without any scruples. "After all, they are nobles, and keeping them locked up will cause trouble, right?"
"Yes, although the Friar family does not have a high title, isn't it one of the richest families in Gaia? That's an entire magic mine!" another bald man said bitterly, "I even used a magic letter to send it to Tanding County as quickly as possible, asking him to bail out his daughter, but after so many days, there is still no response! That little bit of money is nothing to the Friar family..."
"Flare?" A cold voice sounded from behind them. They turned around and the silver-haired girl looked at them expressionlessly and asked again -
"Lilith Flair?"
