Positive little sun, magical girl, I am awesome
Chapter 582 Just wait and see
Lilith is running again.
On the lawn in front of the Goreia Academy castle, students, having shed their school uniforms, whiled away the time until the bell rang, signaling dinnertime. On their way to the dining hall, they saw a blonde girl running in the opposite direction.
"Hi! Senior Lilith!" Many people greeted her warmly.
"Hi hi!" Lilith waved back enthusiastically, her running pace not slowing down at all.
She only slowed down to catch her breath when she reached the tree-lined path leading to her dormitory building and heard another set of footsteps beside her.
"Hey! Aryan!" Lilith hurried along, grabbing Aryan's arm and pulling him forward. "Great, I've been looking for you!"
“No need to rush.” Aryan smiled and matched Lilith’s pace. “I’ve just found out where that guy lives. He will die in agony tonight.”
Lilith, still catching her breath, turned around in surprise: "You...you guessed it?"
Aryan smiled and bowed, leaning close to her side and sniffing gently. "I smell it. It's the scent of wanting to kill."
Although it was an exaggeration, the night elves' sense of danger and murderous intent was as natural as their sense of smell. The current Mother Goddess was just a naive human girl who was completely unable to hide her thoughts.
Moreover, he witnessed it all today: that vulgar human dared to scheme and negotiate with the Mother Goddess.
He deserves to die.
"Wow, that's amazing..." Lilith was stunned by him and stood there marveling.
"You don't need to do this yourself."
Aryan was already in a state of readiness for battle. He stretched out his body like a tree branch, his joints cracking and popping. Then, the dagger he always carried slid into his hand.
The killing game was about to begin. The night elf's emerald pupils constricted with excitement, yet his smile remained gentle. He took Lilith's hand and, mimicking a human ballroom dance, led her around one and a half times. As she faced the dormitory building, he made a promise:
"Please rest well and prepare for the ball. Leave it to me. I will bring his head back to you."
After saying that, he turned to leave.
"Wait!" But Lilith wouldn't let go, and Aryan's arm almost dislocated, causing him to grimace in pain.
"Wow, you—" The Mother Goddess is really strong!
"How can that be? It was clearly my idea, how can I let you go and risk your life?" Lilith grabbed Aryan and refused to back down. "I want to go too, I've already made plans!"
"...There are other plans?"
"That's right, and you're part of the plan too. I was even thinking of bringing you along, how could you not take me?"
Aryan was shocked. Was killing a merchant really that complicated? But when he thought about how the Mother Goddess, who probably had little experience in killing, was nervously devising a plan, he couldn't help but laugh. Even though Lilith looked serious, he was laughing so hard that his shoulders were shaking.
“Alright then.” Aryan laughed and readily agreed, “I’ll do whatever you say.”
"Time is of the essence, and to leave no trace, the first step is, of course, to disguise ourselves!" Lilith didn't understand what Aryan was so happy about, but she had already begun to make serious plans.
"So I'll go back to my dorm to change first. You can come in after I open the window. We both need to change our appearance."
After saying that, she continued rushing back to the dormitory, not worried at all that Aryan would change his mind.
The elf, of course, wouldn't go back on his word. He merely sheathed his dagger temporarily, watched Lilith's figure disappear through the doorway, then twirled as if dancing, faced the nearby woods, and bowed in reverence.
"You see, living in harmony with the Mother Goddess is so simple, Lord Zephyrion."
"..."
The birdsong and insect chirping had long since ceased, and a man with an extremely foul face was now standing in the sparse woods beside the road.
"Did she dig you inhuman creatures out of the mushroom cave back then just so you could play house with her now?" Zephyrion's face was full of disdain, and his voice was like ice.
“Isn’t she at the age where she can just play house?” Aryan ignored his sarcasm and began to check his bowstring, arrows, and poison vials one by one, even though he felt they were completely unnecessary.
"Besides..." the elf said without looking up, "she's much easier to take care of than you were back then."
He didn't even bother to explain what kind of person Lord Zephyrion was back then.
The air was filled with the smell of burning again. Zephyrion exhaled a wisp of white smoke from his nose, but in front of Lilith's former subordinates, he still wanted to maintain some of the dignity of a hero.
"Are the night elves really all that great? I thought you would at least help her regain her memories and find out the truth!" Zephyrion said through gritted teeth.
"That was our original plan, if you hadn't been tempted to kill that Viscount Freyr." Aryan was furious at the thought, and he could no longer maintain his pretense of respect for the ancient heroes.
That man should have been the most direct clue; if he hadn't died, Aryan believed there would always have been a way to get him to talk.
But what was the result? He was scolded by Giselle behind her back and left here to guard the Mother Goddess. Giselle herself went to investigate the clues, her attitude clearly showing that she was afraid of being dragged down by him!
When has the Aryan race ever been treated with such disdain! It's all thanks to Lord Zephyrion! If it weren't for him, they might already be welcoming their Mother Goddess back to the Elven Forest, dancing and singing!
“…I never expected you bunch of useless trash to be of any use!” Zephyrion retorted, “I have my own methods!”
"Ha, is that so? Hopefully, it's a quick solution." Aryan chuckled. "Otherwise, you'll be gone for months at a time when you're angry. The Mother Goddess is now in human form; how many times can she let you run away from home like that?"
"...She won't stay human forever!" Zephyrion roared in fury at those words. "She'll turn back into what she used to be sooner or later!"
"What if you don't?" Aryan almost applauded his naiveté. The heroes of that time were all exceptionally intelligent, so why was it this stupid dragon who survived... He suppressed his smile: "You are not a child anymore, Lord Zephyrion."
"..."
"Aryan, come on up quickly!"
The second-floor window creaked open, and Lilith, now dressed in black casual clothes and with her blonde hair completely hidden, called out to the elves in a low voice, completely unaware of the other person in the dim forest.
"Would you like to join us, Lord Zephyrion?" Aryan simply invited the black dragon to join the "playing house" he scoffed at.
"Just wait and see, my method will definitely work." Zephyrion was clearly dismissive, snorted coldly, and turned to disappear into the shadows of the woods.
Aryan pursed his lips, turned around and answered Lilith's call. He took a few steps to the wall, leaped lightly, and quickly climbed into the window.
"Wait, does killing a merchant really require such a big fuss? Ah? No, no, I... oh no—"
