Chapter 164 On the Importance of Long-range in a Team
"You have been deceived by her, Mr. Adams, please calm down." Daniel said in a cold tone.
He looked at Lilith standing in the front, feeling extremely resentful, but he didn't react in time, and let Lilith steal the limelight in front of the princess again!
"He knows everything, how can he be confused?" Lilith refuted Daniel's words while still staring at the ceiling without looking back.
Cobra lily needs to eat a lot of meat and successfully survive the winter before it can be used as medicine. This is why it is so precious.
Adams, however, was a vegetarian, so the large amount of flesh and blood could only have come from the corpses that he helped the harpy to process and feed her.
"Hey! Go find Lucas!" Although the kitchen took up a large space on the first floor of the house, when the harpy spread its wings, it still seemed small and there was no way for everyone to move around. The kitchen was crowded with people, but half of them were spectators. Lilith looked back and gave decisive orders.
Everyone had little practical experience, so they were inevitably at a loss for a moment. Now that Lilith was in charge, there was finally some order. In the narrow corridor outside the kitchen, the crowd dispersed, searching for their companions in this huge house.
"Over the years, whether in the town or in the mountains, she must have eaten a lot of people, right?" Lilith looked at the sturdy harpy above her head, feeling a little anxious. She just hoped that she had eaten enough in the past few days, otherwise Lucas might have been disappointed.
The wind blew around Catherine, making the robes of several people rustle. Lilith only felt a hurricane roaring past her ears. The wind bullets were like condensed arrows, rushing towards the harpy licking its claws on the roof.
She flapped her wings to the side and barely avoided the vital points. The wind bullet only hit her wings, and large pieces of feathers immediately fell from the sky.
"No! Let her go! I gave the order!" Adams's little black eyes revealed anxiety when he saw his wife injured.
"If you really love her, you should restrain her, Mr. Adams." After Lilith blocked the harpy's second attack, she shook her numb arm and said calmly.
"The townspeople have been calling on the church to request support from the Knights of Light. If they really come, do you think you can keep it a secret?" Catherine continued.
The Adams family, the townspeople, the witches, the hatred from many years ago has become a tangled mess, and no one can be said to be completely innocent. Catherine is unwilling to get involved in these disputes, but she cannot do it if she allows the harpy to continue lurking in the town and hunting secretly.
"They, they won't care at all!" Adams was silent for a while, then laughed. "Why would the church really care about the death of a few civilians?"
He raised his head again and said, "Strangers, I don't want to hurt you! You are good children, different from the people in this town, please leave here."
The sound of footsteps kept ringing in the house. Those were the footsteps of everyone searching for Lucas. The harpy had a strong sense of territory. At this moment, all its feathers stood up, as if they were blown up. When it heard Adams' words, it screamed in displeasure -
"Kill them all!" No one can steal her food!
The harpy flapped its wings and swooped down again. The room was suddenly filled with all kinds of magical lights and feathers flying in the sky.
"Hiss——" The feathers and the smoke from the previous burning blocked Lilith's vision. She was not paying attention for a moment and was scratched on the arm by the harpy's sharp claws.
This long and narrow kitchen with stoves is not a good place for a fight, but if this guy runs out of the house, it would be even more troublesome.
So even though she felt constrained and suffocated trying to maneuver in such a narrow space, Lilith still stood guard at the door and refused to let her go out.
However, she was not the only one who discovered this problem. Adams, who was watching the battle from behind them, gritted his teeth, bent his body, exposed the scales on his back that were as hard as armor, and slammed into the people in the center of the battlefield.
Daniel was caught off guard by the sudden attack from behind. He was knocked off balance by Adams and then Lilith was grabbed by the leg and fell to the ground. The scene was in chaos.
"Hal! Run out of the window! Go outside!" Adams grabbed Lilith and prevented her from getting up, and shouted at the harpy in the sky.
The banshee hesitated for a moment, but finally broke through the window and rushed outside.
Lilith's heart sank—this was trouble.
She struggled to break free from Adams's grasp and chased him outside.
The low room not only restricted the magic apprentices and guardians, but was also a great shackle for the harpy. Now she suddenly returned to the sky and circled in the sky excitedly. It had been too long since she had appeared in this state in the daytime.
A wind bomb came flying at her. This time she was no longer restricted by the narrow roof and she dodged it flexibly by leaning her body. The wind bomb did not hit her at all. She looked at the people on the ground and let out a strange laugh.
"Tsk, this is difficult." Lilith looked at the guy in the sky and felt a headache.
They hadn't learned many attack spells yet. Although Lilith had learned more ice cones than the others, she was powerless against targets in the air. Who would have thought that a relaxing and enjoyable pet-catching trip would end up being so difficult?
Lilith looked back at Catherine and sighed helplessly. This must be the fate of traveling with a heroine. It will always be difficult mode.
The harpy kept swooping down, attacking them from the air, and occasionally shooting arrows. For a moment, she had the upper hand.
"Ding, ding, ding!" The arrows shot continuously and hit Lilith's shield, making crisp sounds. Lilith hid behind the shield and even had the mind to turn around and chat with Catherine -
"Do you think I should learn archery when I go back?" Lilith felt the importance of long-range in a team firsthand at this moment. Maybe she should learn archery instead of sword.
Catherine looked at her speechlessly, not knowing whether to praise her for her calmness in the face of danger or to complain about her carelessness. She only said, "Let's talk about it when we can go back."
"Lilith! We found it!" Bobby and several others came out of the room carrying a bloody man. Lulu screamed and ran over quickly, throwing all kinds of potions and healing spells at him.
“No, my healing skills are not good enough to repair such a big wound.” Lulu could even see the beating organs in Lucas’ chest, and her face turned pale with fright.
"We have to decide quickly." Lilith looked back and whispered to Ian and Catherine beside her.
Catherine nodded solemnly, and the howling wind gathered around her again.
Lilith looked at the agile harpy, her thoughts racing.
This won’t work. We have to find a way to get closer.
