The Romantic Life of a Goblin
Chapter 1: Reincarnation as a Goblin
In a dark and damp underground nest, a skinny goblin cub opened its eyes with difficulty.
It blinked in confusion, trying to adapt to the unfamiliar environment around it.
After a while, the little guy stood up shakily, but accidentally rolled down the small slope beside him.
After a few tumbles, the goblin cub finally stopped, but it landed on its face in an ugly position.
Fortunately, the slope was not high, and it fell right on the bank of a clear stream. The soil here was soft and did not cause any damage to it.
The cub struggled to get up, staggered to the edge of the stream, and looked up at the calm water curiously.
Suddenly, it jumped up in fright at its reflection in the water - it was a green goblin face with long ears, a collapsed nose, sharp teeth, and a bald head.
It looked like an underdeveloped monster, and its height was estimated to be only about 1.3 meters.
The only clothing on his body was a loincloth woven from coarse linen.
"Fuck!!!"
Alan screamed and almost fell to the ground.
What is going on? I turned into an ugly goblin!
Alan was filled with doubts and uneasiness.
Just when he was at a loss, he suddenly heard shouting from the slope behind him.
He looked back and saw two other goblins standing there. They were dressed similarly to him and were holding bags woven with vines and linen in their hands.
The two goblins were shouting at Alan:
“Gawu~Gawu~”
Makes a strange and crude sound.
If Alan had not experienced a time travel before, he might not have understood the meaning of these words at all.
But now he was a goblin, and his automatically awakened racial language talent told him that these two goblins were laughing at him for being a fool and unable to walk steadily.
Alan dusted himself off, stood up and looked around, wondering:
"Why am I here?"
He looked around and found himself in a forest. Not far away there was a river with gurgling water.
The surrounding land was a bit muddy, as if it had just rained.
In the distance, there are towering trees with lush branches and leaves, which seem to cover the entire sky.
He looked up at the sky and was surprised to find two bright moons hanging in the night sky, one big and one small. The moonlight was so bright and clear that it illuminated the entire forest like daylight.
Alan frowned and thought to himself:
"This is definitely not Earth. No matter where on Earth or in a parallel world, there is only one moon in the sky."
Alan quickly called out to his two companions, then carefully climbed up the slope.
Although it was already night, his vision was still very clear.
On the one hand, it was because the moonlight was very abundant, and on the other hand, he unexpectedly discovered that the goblins seemed to be born with strong night vision abilities, and they could see everything around them even in dim light.
As he climbed, Alan tried to remember what had happened before.
He realized that he was supposed to be a goblin living in a nearby nest, and a young cub that had just grown up.
Goblins grow very quickly and are considered adults in just two months, which is very different from the growth cycle of humans.
In human terms, they are roughly equivalent to teenagers.
However, unlike mature goblins, newly-adult goblins like Alan are usually tasked with gathering food around the nest.
Due to limited resources, their diet is relatively monotonous, mainly consisting of wild vegetables, insects, fat white bugs in rotten tree roots and stems, and various fungi.
It is worth mentioning that goblins are naturally immune to fungal toxins, making colored mushroom soup one of their favorite delicacies.
When Alan finally climbed to the top of the hill, he suddenly realized a problem - he had actually forgotten his goblin's name.
Not only that, he couldn't even remember the names of the two goblin companions beside him.
It seemed as if in the past, their communication was simply to refer to each other as "you", "I" and "it".
Goblins don't seem to have specific names.
In addition, their language is extremely simple, and the most commonly used words are just a few such as "oh", "eat", "want", and "get out".
After the three goblins successfully reunited, they continued to search and collect edible things nearby.
At the same time, Alan used this time to adapt to his new body, trying to quickly master the characteristics and abilities of this unfamiliar body.
In his vague memory, goblins were the weakest monsters with no features other than their large numbers. Their height, strength, intelligence and other stats were very low. They would occasionally attack lone merchants or harass villages, plunder food and other races, especially human women. They were the most basic opponents in almost all adventurer games or worlds.
That seems to be the case at the moment.
Judging from the behavior of the two silly-looking companions around him, it can be inferred that the level of civilization of this race is really too low, and the IQ of its individuals is so low that it is unbearable to look at them directly.
Goblins are usually active only at night and return to their nests at daybreak.
The three goblins circled the forest several times and harvested a bag full of wild vegetables and mushrooms. They were also lucky enough to catch a big rat.
The two goblins carried the bag contentedly and returned to the goblin nest early.
After helping to collect them, Alan lay on the ground and stared at the sky in a daze...
His thoughts drifted far away, and he secretly thought about his future.
Although he was among a group of goblins, he was not satisfied with such a simple life.
He longs to explore the wider world and pursue higher wisdom and power.
In this unfamiliar environment, he needs to keep learning and growing and find his own path.
After an unknown amount of time, Alan looked up at the sky and found that the sun was about to set. Realizing that it was getting late, he decided to return to his habitat first.
He followed the route he remembered, walking carefully along the steep mountain road, and finally came to a cave under a rock wall.
The entrance to the cave is small and seems a bit narrow.
The surroundings looked dirty and had a bad smell.
Not far away there was a pile of rotten food scraps and feces. It was obvious that the goblins did not have good hygiene habits to deal with the garbage.
Fortunately, Alan is now also a goblin and has a certain immunity to this harsh environment, otherwise he would definitely feel nauseous and vomit, and his whole body would be covered with goose bumps.
