I'm so tired of traveling all the time

Chapter 23: Rest in the Town

Wen Liang and others finally got on Selina's truck and headed to the town ahead together.

Selena was the pregnant woman protected by a group of strong men, and these strong young men were her husband, her husband's younger brother and his three cousins, while the children who followed them were the lost children they rescued on the road.

Although none of Serena's family members were among this group, seeing how these five men obeyed her orders, it was clear that this small group was led by Serena. And judging from their actions in rescuing the child, they really didn't seem to be bad people.

The pickup truck looked old but very sturdy. By around four in the afternoon, the car had left the main road and was bumping along a winding dirt road.

Except for Serena's husband who was the driver, all the women and children sat in the pickup truck's double-row seats. The remaining men could only sit in the pickup truck bed. Although Wen Liang didn't mind, he saw that those strange men seemed to be very resistant.

The way they looked at Wen Liang revealed a hint of timidity from time to time. If it weren't for Selina's insistence, they would never have stopped the car to ask Wen Liang and his group if they had any lost children, let alone chosen to give them a ride, and even invited them to rest in their town!

How can a guy who points a gun at others casually be a good person?

As the car bumped, the strong men became more nervous. Wen Liang found it funny, and his mouth curled up unconsciously. He seemed not to notice their uneasiness, but just looked out of the car quietly, admiring the scenery along the way, which made them more nervous.

Fortunately, the journey finally ended. Without waiting for the car to stop, the four big men jumped out of the car and disappeared in a flash.

Jason looked at their disappearing backs and said to Wen Liang with a wicked smile, "It seems like you scared them enough."

Wen Liang smiled bitterly, "Do I look scary? And I was smiling the whole time, okay? I really don't understand what they are afraid of?"

"First impression is very important. You pointed a gun at them the first time you met them. Wouldn't you be scared? I guess they will have a psychological trauma in their lives against guns, especially against you~" Jason chuckled in a low voice. He was afraid that his laughter would be heard by Selena.

Selina got out of the car with the help of Karen and Lily, and said to Wen Liang with a smile, "I'm sorry, they didn't do that on purpose, it's just... they are indeed a little timid, they were scared, first it was New York, then someone in the town wanted to steal the car, and then it was you..."

"I should be the one to say sorry and thank you for giving us a ride." Wen Liang smiled gently, and at the same time he suddenly realized why he felt that the strong men were wary of him and others from the beginning.

"You can go to the hotel in the town to rest. If you want to continue on your journey later, the hotel also provides car rentals. I have to take the children to Officer Mona first. The children also need to be taken care of. Goodbye!" After Selena finished speaking, she waved goodbye to Wen Liang and others, and with the support of her husband, she took the three children to the patrolman's house in the town.

Watching Serena walk into the small police station, Wen Liang couldn't help but think of the words, "With a sharp weapon in hand, the desire to kill will arise naturally, so be careful."

"What should we do next?" Hader walked up and asked, scratching his head. "How about staying in a hotel for one night?"

"Do you have money? I don't have a penny on me anyway!" Jason said and glanced at his girlfriend Lily.

Lily rolled her eyes at this and said, "Why are you looking at me? I'm still wearing my party clothes, how could I have money with me!"

Then he looked at Karen again. Karen was even more straightforward. She spread her hands and said, "I didn't expect to use money..."

When everyone looked at Wen Liang, he smiled and said, "Don't worry. Fortunately, I have prepared some spare money for the trip. Karen, you also have some in your bag. This is called "Don't put all your eggs in one basket". This is wisdom from the ancient East."

"Wow!"

"Will is the best!"

Everyone cheered and walked towards the hotel. There were quite a few pedestrians on the road. They seemed not to be affected by the attack of the New York monster at all, and they even seemed unaware of it!

After asking for directions, they arrived at the only motel in town, booked three rooms, and the five of them agreed to meet up in an hour and a half.

Wen Liang and Karen returned to the room and took a good bath to get rid of their fatigue. They immediately felt much more energetic. After resting for more than half an hour, they felt refreshed.

After Karen and I changed into the new clothes in the backpack, we both looked brand new.

When I arrived at the front desk of the hotel, I saw Hader already sitting there in a daze, still wearing his dirty clothes.

Wen Liang slapped his head and realized that he was so focused on dressing himself that he forgot to buy new clothes for his friends.

He walked over and patted Hader on the shoulder, then sat down next to him, "Why didn't you rest a little longer?"

Had looked up and saw Wen Liang, so he nodded as a greeting, and then his eyes went back to the street ahead.

"It would be even better if Marina could be here."

"You know, if she hadn't pushed me, I would have died, and she would have survived."

Wen Liang looked at the persistent Hader and said, "Don't let Marina down. She saved you because she wants you to cheer up and live well!"

"I understand. I will try my best to live with her share!"

At this time, a voice came from behind, "We are done packing, let's go eat first!"

"Okay, let's change clothes after dinner!" Wen Liang suggested, "Then we can discuss where to go next."

"agree!"

"Eat, eat!"

"I want more drinks, two dozen!"

....................................

There aren't many restaurants open in the town, but they are enough for people who just want a hot meal.

After dinner, the five of them went to the only bar in town - Old John's Bar. This bar seemed to have been there for a long time. It was filled with an old atmosphere, and the walls were covered with various photos, sticky notes and souvenirs.

There were quite a few people sitting inside drinking, chatting and watching the softball game. Occasionally there would be cheering and laughing, or cursing and banging on the table, but overall it was relatively quiet. Everyone was quite satisfied with this environment. After all, everyone came here to discuss something.

"Ha~" Jason drank a full bottle of beer in one breath, then slammed the empty bottle on the table and exhaled, "Nothing can be more comforting than this!"

As soon as the voice fell, Lily stopped drinking and looked at Jason sideways. Jason immediately realized that he had slipped his tongue and quickly changed his words, "Of course, it's worse than my Lily. It can only paralyze my spirit, but you will take away my body and soul!"

Everyone laughed, then they became serious and started to discuss what to do next.
