A Mysterious Journey Through the Shang Dynasty

Chapter 9 The Difficult Exploration Road

Hey, after we came back from that mysterious place, we were full of energy, and all we could think about was how to use the secrets to make the Shang Dynasty better. Wan'er and I were so full of fighting spirit that we felt like superheroes who were going to save the world.

But this road is not so easy to walk. Just when we were about to do something big, troubles came one after another.

Let's talk about finding clues first. The mysterious sacrificial culture is like a big maze. We wander around in it but can't figure it out. Sometimes when I look at those ancient patterns and symbols, my brain almost breaks, but I still don't know what they mean. Wan'er frowned and held a stone slab with some strange symbols engraved on it. "Su Yao, what do you think this thing means? We have studied it for several days, but still don't understand anything." I scratched my head, "Don't worry, don't worry, let's think about it slowly, and we will definitely find clues."

Not all the people at the market support us. There is a group of people who think we are messing around and doing useless things. They point fingers at us all day long, saying that we are daydreaming. Once, I was discussing with Wan'er, and an uncle came over and said with a pout: "What can you two little girls do? Don't waste your time, go home and stay at home." I was unhappy when I heard it, "Uncle, we are working hard for the future of the Shang Dynasty. If you don't understand, don't talk nonsense." Wan'er also quickly joined in, "That's right, we will definitely find a way."

Also, when we went to look up ancient books and documents, it was not all smooth sailing. Those ancient books were old and worn out, and some of the words were not legible, so we had to work hard to recognize them. Moreover, many ancient books were scattered in different places, and we had to run around to find them. Once, we heard that a very important ancient book was in a remote village, so we hurried over. It turned out that the roads in the village were difficult to walk on, all muddy and slippery. When we finally got there, the people were still unwilling to lend it to us, saying that it was the treasure of their village and could not be given to outsiders casually. Wan'er and I tried to persuade them, and our lips were almost worn out, and they reluctantly agreed to let us look at it for a while.

During the research, we also encountered some strange phenomena. Sometimes when I went to bed at night, I always felt something was swaying around, which was scary. Once, we stayed overnight in a dilapidated house. In the middle of the night, we suddenly heard a strange sound, like someone crying. Wan'er was so scared that she hugged me tightly, "Su Yao, what's that sound? Is there a ghost?" Although I was a little scared, I still said bravely, "Don't be afraid, don't be afraid, there is no ghost, it must be the sound of the wind." But I was actually nervous.

However, we can't be scared by difficulties. Wan'er and I encouraged each other and decided to persevere no matter what difficulties we encountered. We continued to study the sacrificial culture and did not miss any clues. Sometimes, in order to figure out the meaning of a symbol, we have to ask many people and walk a lot. Once, in order to find an old man who understood these symbols, we ran to several places and finally found him on a small hill. The old man was reluctant to speak at first, so we brought him some delicious food, chatted with him, and finally moved him. He explained the meaning of those symbols to us, and we listened very seriously, just like elementary school students listening to the teacher's lecture.

We also kept communicating with wise people and listened to their ideas. One scholar was particularly good and provided us with a lot of useful suggestions. He said, "You should look at these sacrificial cultures from different angles and not just focus on one place." We thought what he said made sense, so we started to study from more aspects.

As time went by, we slowly made some new discoveries. We found that some movements and postures in sacrificial ceremonies seemed to have special meanings. So we began to observe those who participated in the sacrifices to see if there was any pattern in their movements. This was not easy, because those people would not let us watch casually, so we had to watch secretly. Once, we hid in a corner and watched those people perform sacrifices, but we were discovered and almost kicked out. Fortunately, we ran fast, otherwise we would be in trouble.

During this process, we also encountered some dangers. Once, we were looking for clues in an ancient temple and suddenly heard a strange sound. We followed the sound and found a dark basement. We walked in curiously, but there were many rats in it, so we ran out quickly. Another time, we encountered a ferocious beast in the mountains and were almost eaten by it. Fortunately, we ran fast and found a safe place to hide.

However, we were not intimidated by these difficulties. We knew that our mission was too important to give up easily. We continued to work hard, believing that one day we would be able to unlock this mysterious secret and bring new hope to the Shang Dynasty.
