The second day of the trip to Blue Ice Lake was the day Pei Luonan and Gu Fanxing returned.

In the waiting hall of Iceland Airport, when Pei Luonan bent down to stuff his luggage into the checked bag, Gu Fanxing's ankles, exposed by the edges of her wool socks, trembled slightly in the air-conditioning wind.

He reached out and grasped the slightly cool skin, his fingertips brushing against her ankle and accidentally rubbing against the volcanic mud. "I'll take you to the hot springs when we get back to Hwaseong to steam out the iceberg chill."

These words made Gu Fanxing's ears burn.

She lowered her head to organize her backpack. The amulet given by Gudrun slipped out of the compartment, and the packaging bag of Aurora Blueberry seeds was still stained with ice crystals from the Blue Ice Lake.

Pei Luonan caught it quickly, his fingertips accidentally brushing against her fingertips. They both recalled the restrained and hot breaths in the ice cave, and the air instantly became sticky.

When the boarding announcement sounded, Pei Luonan deliberately gave her the window seat.

The moment the plane broke through the clouds, Gu Fanxing's nose was almost touching the window - under the clouds, the glaciers of Iceland were emitting the last bit of blue, like an unfinished love letter.

"What are you looking at?" Pei Luonan leaned over, the scent of mint mixed with cedar wrapped around her, and her warm breath swept past her ears. "Are you saying goodbye to Iceland, or... are you counting how many heartbeats we left behind?"

When the flight attendant pushed the food cart past, Pei Luonan ordered two cups of hot cocoa.

When he used the technique of latte art to draw crooked aurora arcs on the dense milk foam, Gu Fanxing finally couldn't help laughing out loud.

"Don't move." He suddenly reached out and brushed his fingertips across the milk stains on the corners of her mouth, but his movements froze when they were about to touch her lips.

The looks from the passengers around him made the tips of his ears turn red, and in a panic he stuffed the whole pack of tissues into her hands.

The air currents in the stratosphere suddenly became turbulent, and Gu Fanxing subconsciously grabbed his arm.

Pei Luonan took her hand in his palm and stroked the faint blue light traces in her palm lines with his fingertips - that was the mark left by the resonance of the aurora and the volcano.

"You know?" he suddenly said, his voice so low that only she could hear, "On the night of the glacier picnic, I almost..." Before he could finish his words, his cell phone vibrated in his pocket. It was a photo sent by Olaf: three little girls holding a greeting card with a picture of the aurora, and Gudrun secretly wiping tears in the background.

Gu Fanxing leaned on his shoulder and looked through the photos. The scent of cloudberries in her hair mixed with the smell of coffee in the cabin.

Pei Luonan's gaze fell on the faintly visible fuzz on the back of her neck, and his Adam's apple rolled as he swallowed the unfinished words.

When she looked up and asked him "What are you thinking about", her eyelashes brushed against his chin, tickling him so much that his heart skipped a beat.

He lowered his head for some unknown reason, but suddenly sat up straight half an inch away from her lips, and his head hit the luggage rack with a "bang".

The muffled sound attracted the attention of the surrounding passengers.

Gu Fanxing hurriedly checked to see if he was hurt. When she pressed her fingertips on his red forehead, Pei Luonan suddenly grabbed her wrist.

"Gu Fanxing," his voice cracked with nervousness, "If you continue like this... I really can't bear it any longer until I get off the plane."

These words made the whole world suddenly quiet, even the roar of the engine became a distant background.

In order to divert attention, Pei Luonan began to search for duty-free items in his backpack.

He first took out two bear pendants carved from Icelandic volcanic rocks. Their naive appearance made Gu Fanxing laugh.

The initials of both of their names were engraved on the bear's belly, and it was tied with an aurora-colored ribbon.

"I saw it at the market in Reykjavik," he turned away, his ears reddening. "I thought it was just as cute as you."

Then he took out a hand-sewn leather notebook with a small piece of ice core from the Blue Ice Lake inlaid on the cover, which glowed faintly blue under the cabin lights.

"I originally wanted to fill you with memories of Iceland," he said, turning the blank pages, his voice lowered. "But then I realized that our story has only just begun, so why not leave it for the future to fill together?"

Just as Gu Fanxing was deeply moved, Pei Luonan's expression suddenly became serious.

He carefully took out a wooden box from the deepest part of his backpack. The surface of the box was engraved with runes and auroras. When he opened it, he found an exquisite necklace inside.

The pendant of the necklace is made of Icelandic Lamaninoff stone, which is said to change color depending on the wearer's mood.

At this moment, the stone is glowing with a gentle pink and purple color, just like the mood of the two people at the moment.

"That day at the Blue Ice Lake, I was thinking of giving you a special gift," he said, picking up the necklace, his voice trembling slightly. "This stone is called 'Voice of the Heart' in Iceland. I think... in the future, it will be able to speak for me, the words I sometimes dare not say out loud."

He gently put the necklace on Gu Fanxing, and his fingertips accidentally brushed across her collarbone, causing her to tremble slightly.

At this moment, the lights in the cabin suddenly dimmed and the crew began to distribute dinner.

Pei Luonan took the two lunch boxes, but winked at Gu Fanxing mysteriously: "Don't open them yet, play a game with me."

He took out a blindfold like a magician, and after obtaining Gu Fanxing's consent, gently covered her eyes.

“Hold out your hand.”

Pei Luonan placed a small object in her palm, and the cold touch made Gu Fanxing feel it curiously.

“Guess what this is?”

His voice was filled with laughter, and his warm breath fanned her ears.

Gu Fanxing carefully felt the shape of the object: a round sphere, and there seemed to be concave and convex patterns on the surface.

“Are they… polished volcanic stone beads?” she asked uncertainly.

Pei Luonan took off her blindfold with a smile, and Gu Fanxing could see clearly that in her palm was a dice polished with Icelandic basalt, with different Icelandic symbols engraved on each of the six sides: the aurora, whales, volcanoes, glaciers, puffins and Viking warships.

"I had this custom made at a local workshop,"

Pei Luonan explained.

“Every time we face a choice in the future, we will use this to make a decision – after all, Iceland has taught us that the most beautiful scenery often lies in the unexpected.”

After that, he gently held Gu Fanxing's hand and placed the dice between their overlapping palms. "Come on, try your luck?"

The dice rolled in the palm of my hand and finally stopped on the "Aurora" side.

Pei Luonan raised the corner of his mouth: "It seems that God is reminding us to carry on the romance to the end."

He took out a sealed glass bottle from the interlayer of his backpack. It contained water from the Blue Ice Lake, a few tiny ice crystals, and a folded note.

"This bottle of lake water will only freeze at -15 degrees Celsius."

He gently put the bottle into Gu Fanxing's hand.

"Just like my feelings for you, they will always remain fresh."

The note contained a simple cartoon: a girl in a woolen hat chasing the aurora borealis, a blushing boy behind her holding a camera, taking candid photos. Next to it were the words, scribbled in crooked letters: "I've been chasing you since we were little, and I want to chase you forever."

Gu Fanxing's eyes instantly moistened. Before she could speak, Pei Luonan suddenly buried his head in the crook of her neck, and his voice came out muffled: "Gu Fanxing, I have never been like this before. I hope the journey will never end."

As the plane began to descend, the clouds outside the window were stained with the halo of city lights.

Gu Fanxing leaned on Pei Luonan's shoulder and watched the new video sent by Leo Laf on his phone.

In the video, three little girls were dancing a traditional Icelandic circle dance around a fireplace. Gudrun, holding up the camera, suddenly shouted at the screen: "Remember to bring Gu Fanxing back for some whale oil stew!"

Pei Luonan smiled and put his arm around her shoulders, whispering, "Next time we come, let's say..." He paused, his Adam's apple rolling slightly, "Let's say we're here to see the aurora, or...a honeymoon trip."

These words made Gu Fanxing's heart beat faster. She secretly buried her hot cheeks in his coat. The fabric still retained the scent of the Icelandic cedar bonfire, which was warm and reassuring.
